Reviews
There were a number of problems that left me very frustrated with this Neilson holiday, including:
1) Overcrowding. The week I was there was extremely busy and I was unable to get on the "red" level sailing courses more than once and the tennis sessions were stupidly busy at times. Given this was one of the reasons I was going, I would say that this is disappointing.
2) The Neilson "app" is underdeveloped and poor. The main issue is the poor link between the calendar and the activity that meant one struggled to book days ahead.
3) The tax. At no point was it clear that there were further charges. This was an all inclusive holiday right. Wrong, there is a local tax payable- Eu105 over the week. Lack of transparency is frustrating.
4) Extended check out. We paid for extended check out (Eu50) as our bus left at 7.00pm. However, when we arrived we were told that we had to be out the room by 3.00pm. What's the use in that! Further more, I asked at reception if we could stay in the room until 5.00pm and told yes. We came back to the room at 4.00pm to be harassed by cleaners and then other reception staff to get out the room. Really quite unpleasant to the point of being a disgrace.
5) Despite a great layout of the resort, the rooms were disappointing- see below.
If only one of these had happened, I would still recommend the resort, but all of them was too much and I left the resort feeling strongly disappointed.
Update: We mentioned the first night food experience when checking out and they refunded us, which was a great response. Thanks, Neilson!
A little disappointed to find out there is a 15% climate levy per room at checkout.
Everything was wonderful
Absolutely a wonderful place witj the best beach bar next door
Windsurfing conditions during the first two weeks of May weren’t ideal, unfortunately. There was either not enough wind or strong wind with waves that made it difficult, especially for beginners.
The water sports instructors are outstanding—knowledgeable, supportive, and always eager to help you improve your technique.
However, the tennis experience was a letdown. My partner, a beginner, was put straight into doubles matches without any real instruction, which isn’t a great way to learn. I joined the intermediate group and had a similar experience: just playing doubles with no feedback from the trainers. The tennis program would really benefit from more structured lessons and one-on-one coaching to help guests progress (I‘m guessing the private lessons will offer this).
We stayed on the first floor of the main building. The room and view were excellent, but the entrance door offered very little sound insulation. We were often woken up by delivery trucks between 6 and 9 a.m. I had to sleep with swimming ear plugs, as reception didn’t have any available—something they should consider providing.
Cleaning and reception services were excellent. Restaurant service was also top-notch—very fast, efficient, and always quick to clear your plates.
