We stayed at Scaleta Beach at the end of the season and it was wonderfully quiet for most of our stay but... read on. The complex is set on multiple levels with numerous flights of stairs and steps and many uneven surfaces including level differences that can be as little as two centimetres that can be trip hazards even for the sure footed - out room alone had six different floor levels. The hotel is set high above the beach - a good 250 feet and its a stiff climb so if you have ANY sort of mobility problems or breathing difficulties this hotel is NOT for you. The all inclusive is adequate and the food is of reasonable quality but choice can be limited compared with some and note that local spirits are NOT included except raki which with tap water tastes like petrol and ouzo that you could run a plane on. The rooms are an adequate size and are reasonably equipped but the balcony was small and ricketty and the shower involved a 6 inch step up from the floor level around the basin and then a 9 inch step down into the shower. The views are stunning and the pool facilities are ok if a little tired but we were there at a low occupancy time and competition for sunbeds would be fierce at peak times and the sunbeds at the beach belong to the neighbouring hotel so they're far from guaranteed. The staff were wonderful and I have absolutely no complaint about them whatsoever. While the views are great the surrounding area is lacklustre urban sprawl and light industry. There is little by way of dining or night life to be had within walking distance though there are a a couple of the usual tourist supermarkets nearby and there is a car hire company close by whose rates are reasonable - Crete is a vast island by Greek standards and a quad or scooter wouldn't cut it if you want to travel any further than Rethymno. The hotel is also built directly above THE main road that runs along the north coast and the road noise is ever present though not generally intrusive. In short - we had a pleasant enough holiday and there wasn't anything as such to complain about but I don't think we'd come back.

I know there’s poor reviews on here but we found our stay lovely! Beds made and bathrooms replenished daily. Nice food, lovely beach nearby, wonderful attractions nearby. Staff were helpful. For affordable accommodation it was satisfactory. The rooms were standard but clean and had everything we needed.

Yes, the sunsets are beautiful and the sea view is lovely. Unfortunately, everything else left me wondering how this place manages to call itself a hotel. There was no kettle, no fridge, and not even the option to buy fresh cold water on-site — a rather shocking omission in a hot climate. The bed was uncomfortable, the maids repeatedly forgot to leave fresh towels (ever tried drying off with nothing at all?), and the staff were, at best, indifferent, and at worst, downright unfriendly. As an English guest, I certainly didn’t feel welcome by either staff or fellow visitors. Dragging a suitcase up a steep hill on arrival felt less like a holiday and more like an endurance challenge — with no help offered, of course. The bar shuts ridiculously early and the choice of drinks is as limited as the hospitality. And about that “private beach” they like to boast about? Misleading at best. It’s neither private nor particularly inviting, and I couldn’t shake the feeling of having been sold something that simply doesn’t exist. The food just about passes as adequate, but that’s hardly enough to compensate for the catalogue of disappointments. If you’re happy with pretty sunsets and little else, this hotel might do. If you value comfort, honesty, and basic hospitality, I’d strongly advise looking elsewhere.

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST! THE WORST HOTEL IVE EVER BEEN TO! GOT TOLD TO LEAVE AT 1AM BECAUSE WE COMPLAINED ABOUT ANTS ALL OVER OUR BED! WOULD NOT HELP OR OFFER A REFUND ABSOLUTE SCAM OF A PLACE FOOD AND DRINKS ALL HORRIBLE AND THE STAFF WAS THE WORST! GOT VIDEOS OF THE HOTEL MANAGER CLOSING HER EYES REFUSING TO LOOK AT THE ANTS! AS WE WAS LEAVING TO GET A TAXI TO ANOTHER HOTEL SHE RAN OUT SHOUTING ABUSE AT US!

Stayed for a week came home 11th sept, Found the hotel clean and well kept, the hotel location is a bit remote, but there is a bus stop just outside and a 2€ trip to town takes about 20 mins. The beach is clean, there is a small area to bathe, you will need beach shoes as it is rocky in places. The food was good and acceptable even as it’s produced for the masses, though choices are limited and a bit repetitive. The bad bits … We arrived late and no food was available, so our evening meal was a pack of Oreo’s and a bag of crisps. Although during the week we saw other late arrivals given food and eating in the restaurant. The “all inclusive” drink selection is disappointing, only beer, wine, soft drinks or local ouzo or raki is free, a normal spirit and coke will cost you an additional €10 and not a cocktail in sight. You can hire a fridge and kettle for your room at a price. It would have been helpful to have a few notes on information relating to where the beach that’s got free sunbeds is located and not ones you have to pay for, or where the nearest supermarket is, without having to find out from other guests, Overall the hotel does seem to be majority of French and German guests, that wasn’t an issue, all were friendly and very calm atmosphere. There is not much evening entertainment, one night a week for an hour there was the traditional Greek dancing which was good, the rest of the time was just playing French YouTube music, which was a bit monotonous at times. Transfer times were about 2.5 hrs depending on drop offs. Overall though it was a pleasant relaxing holiday

Like a prison cell. At least a prison cell has a kettle and teabags. I have travelled alot and always at minimum had tea and coffee in the room. We are on honeymoon in

Possibly the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Arrived at 2am in the morning to be greeted by a lady who could o ly give us a glass of water. Then to be told no tea or coffee in bedroom we were not in England ow. We could hire a kettle or a fridge. The room we were taken to looked like a prison cell but worse. I think they have tea and coffee in prison cells. Shower broken, they mucked us around each day saying they would find us a better room. The view was nice. Food was like school dinners, blamange. We could not eat there or drink. It was the worst hotel ever. They only have one wine that comes out of a tap and is like fuel. Staff were mostly dreadful, there was a couple of nice ones. If I can upload photos, I will. As we all do, save for a holiday and just wanted something half decent. If you want luke warm food and don't care about what you drink come here.

Praise the staff, working hard on this weather ( 34C) doing all the best to accommodate everyone. The owners of this business, need to align with the customers though and needs: There are no excuses to patronise the opening hours for the swimming pool: 10 am- 6 pm. No need for that. Second cons is confusion for the daily basis food buffet. How nicely it will be to have it displayed in advance for the following week. 3 stars accommodation, includes a poor wifi signal to our room, however was beaten by the sea view. A very small maintenance reported, to the best ever receptionist Sofia, has been sorted out by minutes… Thank you ever so much for giving us the heads up about the tourist area, as well. Bar & restaurants staff very friendly and professional.

My partner and I had a fantastic holiday at this hotel! The view from our room was truly breathtaking! Staff were so friendly. Room was nice and clean and our balcony was big. The food was surprisingly delicious - every breakfast, lunch and dinner there was something that we enjoyed. The drinks were limited, however we thoroughly enjoyed the Crete wine. The pool was lovely and even with the daily sunbed wars - we always managed to get a sun lounger. The hotel shop was a massive convenience and had your basic essentials there. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel and it is a quick 30min drive on the bus in to the stunning Rethymno. The price for this is €2 and tickets can be bought from the reception. The reception staff are full of knowledge and so helpful, giving you advice on where to explore and how to get there. If you are wanting a nice chilled holiday - this is a perfect place to stay!! Thank you very much for a great stay!!

Food is uneatable, rooms are appalling, there are no shops or entertainment. There is one restaurant nearby but don't take your wife or daughters as the old man that runs it follow them to the toilets and tries to grope. The staff never seem happy that you might actually want to disturb them for a drink. If you like milk for tea, coffee forget it.the transfer is hell on earth, overall after 2 days I was looking for flights home. Do NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.
