La Maltese Estate, Buddha-Bar Beach Santorini in Imerovigli

We booked a specific Honeymoon Suite with Hot Tub & Caldera View at La Maltese Estate months in advance — to celebrate a 40th birthday and anniversary. When we arrived, the staff didn’t say a word about any changes. They just brought us directly to Room 105, pretending everything was normal. The room was much smaller, darker, and nothing like what we booked. We asked, “Is this really the Honeymoon Suite with hot tub we reserved?” The receptionist shrugged and said: “I don’t know, all rooms are similar.” You work here and don’t know the room names? Seriously? It became obvious: • They gave our booked suite to someone else, likely for a longer stay or higher price, • And tried to pass us off the simplest available room, hoping we wouldn’t notice. When we showed them photo proof from our booking vs what we were given — they just waved it off and said, “You booked a suite, and this is a suite.” Zero apology. No explanation. Just gaslighting and deflection. They also tried to charge €120 extra for breakfast even though it was selected in the booking. When we refused and showed our documents — they backed down. We refused to stay in the fake room. They never offered the correct one, and we moved out. If you’re planning a special occasion, don’t risk it here. They will resell your room for profit and hand you whatever’s left — then pretend it’s the same thing. Beautiful views can’t cover up dishonest management.

Absolutely disgusting, avoid at all, costs room and not safe wires hanging out wall no Wi-Fi no television, breakfast, disgusting with no choices and Buddha bar closed vouchers purchased as a wedding present couldn’t be used and still not refunded. We stayed October 2024. Absolute rip-off. Nothing as described or for honeymoon so much better in the area. Avoid avoid avoid!

Here’s an updated review that includes the additional point: “I recently stayed at La Maltese Estate Hotel in Santorini, and it was a deeply disappointing experience. We booked expecting a luxurious stay, but it was far from it. We were promised a room with a hot tub, but despite repeated assurances, it was never made available. The breakfast was laughable, consisting of little more than a cold boiled egg each morning. Numerous facilities that were advertised simply didn’t exist, leaving us feeling misled. To make matters worse, the manager not only left the hotel but also deliberately refused to accommodate us, ignoring our calls and leaving us without support. This is not the level of service you’d expect from a supposedly high-end hotel. I would not recommend staying here to anyone.”

Terrible experience and customer service. They sold our reservation! After flying for hours and paying 50 euro for an airport transfer, the hotel manager (Konstantinos) told us he didn’t have a reservation for us. He initially told us his system showed us arriving on different dates but later admitted he sold our room to a wedding party. He tried to offer us a cheap room nearby but it was a subpar room. I contacted him prior to our arrival and THEY setup our airport transfer so he absolutely knew when we were arriving. My confirmation dates were correct. We moved to the Domes property who welcomed us. Would never book or stay at La Maltese. He didn’t even offer to cover our additional 50 euro hotel transfer to the new hotel. Very poor management. We went here expecting top quality service and especially food, however were left deeply dissatisfied by the quality of food, especially considering their price point.

I would recommend going there only during sunsets for perhaps some drinks. However even the cocktails lacked freshness.

Many other places on this island to have a good time at!!!

The worst experience I had in my whole stay in Santorini. We booked with the intention of having food, drinks and Shisha. Fully prepared to spend a lot of money and had made a reservation weeks in advance. We felt from the moment we arrived we felt uncomfortable from the treatment of the staff. The menu is drastically overpriced and the quality is drastic, the food also does not come as specified. Do not go here or waste your money
