Description

Alykanas Village Resort is a 4-star hotel located in Alikanas, Greece, offering a wide variety of room types ranging from Economy rooms to Deluxe Suites and Cottages with water views. The resort features multiple pools including a water park suitable for children under 12, a buffet restaurant, bar, and facilities such as air conditioning, free parking, and free Wi-Fi. Guests can expect family-friendly amenities like a children's playground and garden areas, as well as services like 24-hour front desk and security. While the hotel maintains a 7.2/10 overall rating, guest feedback highlights a mix of experiences, with praise for its spacious rooms, beach proximity, and pool areas, but also notes on maintenance issues and variable service quality. The resort, built some years ago and showing signs of wear in parts, aims to cater mainly to families, with large apartments and suites available.

Location

The resort is situated just 160 meters from Alykanas beach, providing easy access to the sea and the sandy shoreline. It is 13 kilometers from Zakinthos International Airport (ZTH), making transfers relatively short. The hotel’s location is convenient for reaching local bars, restaurants, shops, and a bus stop to Zakynthos old town within a five-minute walk. Guests appreciate the proximity to the beach and local amenities, which allows for a mostly pedestrian experience without the need for frequent vehicle use.

Tips

  • Book a room in the newer block if possible, as several guests reported better conditions there.
  • Bring your own toiletries, since some reviews mention limited bathroom supplies.
  • Be prepared to pay the tourist tax in cash, and keep in mind that the poolside bar can be noisy during the day, which might affect families with small children.

We have stayed the Alykanas Village Hotel a couple of years ago, and had a nice stay... However, this time we noticed that nothing had been done and the hotel looked like it was just collecting money and no maintenance work had been done in a long time. Our room had a beautiful view but the bathroom was mouldy with cracks in the tub that had only been caulked as a fix and it looked very dirty. The shower was not very good and there was very little chance of keeping water in the tub which made a slip hazard and used extra towels to keep the floor dry. The TV and AC were broke when we arrived, but they were fixed and the fridge never worked. The door to the room was not fitted very well and large gaps at the floor level and Gecko's often came in to the room under the door. There are many trip hazards around the site and I did fall and dislocate my shoulder. The bar was always dead maybe only 1 or 2 people there. The people on site although appeared friendly were not very good with speaking English. The Tourist tax that is paid in Greece, could only be paid in cash and Passports were held until you paid. The Tourist tax was set at max amount as well. The location is great but this did not make up for the, dirty looking bathroom, poor quality of food, lack of atmosphere, prices at the pool restaurant/bar, music. It was far cheaper to go to the shop and get food in and make your own lunch. Overall, it was not a 4 Star hotel and will not be staying there again. They need to up their game as there are several new hotels being built in the area. It is a shame as it could be put back to a 4 Star hotel with not that much work being done.

In our opinion the hotel is not a four star however its a good 3+. The reception area and bar is pleasant and welcoming and the staff are very accommodating. Our room was tried and in need of modernisation the bathroom is very small with a shower over the bath not the best as personnel preference would be a shower only but the room did have a sea view and balcony. We had a problem with the toilet not working which was fixed within 20 min. Breakfast was okay, you would be quite picky if you could not find something to eat, coffee was poor tasting. The complex itself is in a great location and the pools are good with a lovely beach on your doorstep. In general we enjoyed our stay but picked the wrong week as it poured down at times, on the Sunday for 12 hours which left the roads flooded and we had to paddle back to the hotel which was funny, a fairly mixed bag of weather over the week but what can you do about that.

This hotel is not worthy of 4 stars, 2 at a push. We stayed in the old block. Some things we could overlook but sadly the hotel is run for the convenience of the staff and not paying customers. Examples of this : 1. Very, very hard matressess , not changed when I asked for a softer one. 2. The bed was not made up - The bottom sheet was on the bed but the top sheet was left folded on top of the bed. Duvets in the cupboard with no covers on them!!!! This allowed us to see the stains on them. Pillow cases stained. 3. No toiletries as you would expect in a 4 star. Just 2 pump soap dispensers by the sink and shower. 4. Toilet paper bin not initially removed for 3 days . 5. Works canteen, ooops it was the restaurant ! No tables laid you had to help yourself to cutlery . A bit concerning following the pandemic and a family reporting D&V. However, it did enable the young waitress to lean against the canteen wall every morning to eat and drink. The other 2 staff need customer service training , no welcome, no eye contact - just rude. I guess wearing a hoodie and baseball cap sets the scene. If you want a fried egg be prepared to wait and wait and wait. Breakfast was basic, not sure what the bacon was reconstituted from ? Bar staff welcoming and helpful. Prices of drinks / food very reasonable. Communal areas clean, pool cleaned thoroughly. Sun loungers old but comfy. No entertainment but that was great as many fab restaurants and bars nearby. Location great. Sadly the beach was not cleaned of plastics. So much washed up on the beach and a turtle nest by the hotel steps. Please use my tourist tax to clean the beach to protect marine life. Why does the hotel insist you pay tourist tax in cash and cash for the hotel safe ??? Legally they should give you the option of a card payment for the tax. This could be a great hotel , perhaps a change of management to run it as a 4 star ?? We have been to Greece many times and always go to a 4 star so feel confident that this is not . The staff maybe tired after a long season but we are still paying customers .

We love this place. The beach is a stone throw away. Gently sloping into the warm water. Good location for the bars and restaurants. Honestly cannot say a bad word about this place.

Just returned from a 10 day holiday .Stayed in the new block so can't comment on the old appartments. New rooms great and the pool.in front was never too busy ,unlike the other pools. The best part about this hotel is the location, perfect for famillies. The beach is a stones throw and the local restaurants and bars are a 5 min walk if that . Shops etc...all close by .The bus stop into Zante old town is also in a 5 min walk. I didn't really have much to do with the staff, but all seemed very polite and pleasant. We thought the air con was broke and the handy man came with in 2 mins of reporting. The girls on the front desk were lovely. A Really pleasant stay, would definitely recommend 👌

Basic but clean and comfortable room. Lovely pools with plenty of space, never a struggle to get sun beds. Brilliant location on the beach, it’s with a walk to alkyes for pretty restaurants by the sea. Lots of choice for breakfast. The hotel surroundings are beautiful and well maintained. Only improvement would be more facilities in the room for making and eating lunch. No plates, cutlery etc. we managed fine by taking cutlery from breakfast and buying disposable plates from the shop. We got to see a turtle swimming around the harbour and hired a boat from golden dolphin for the day which was brilliant. Took it around the coast to see the ship wreck. Lots of swimming and even spotted a turtle on our way back which was a highlight. I would definitely return here.

After reading a number of the reviews it put a real downer on us coming to this hotel as we were worried we’d spent and worked hard for something that was going to be a disappointment. Well, what I can say is we have not had that experience and it’s been lovely! It’s not 5* but I’d imagine the 4* is for the facilities on offer over the room quality. The rooms are fine however, spacious with smart tv good aircon and somewhere to base yourself. Wide choice of pools and right on the beach with a view of Kefalonia. Breakfast selection is good a varied and so many bars/restaurants and cafes to walk to. As for things looking tired, they look Sun bleached from being beaten down by 30+ degrees everyday. They function fine.

Initially given the wrong rooms and staff did nothing to resolve which was DISGRACEFUL. Ended up with three adults sharing one room and I slept on some kind of bench bed which was horrendously uncomfortable and got no sleep. After our 3rd/4th attempt they finally gave us the rooms we had actually paid for the next day, but we had to move everything ourselves. Rooms are basic and in need of some minor repairs (doors don't lock, damaged lights) but WiFi is good, air-con is free and sound proofing was good too. Pools are large and plentiful, but splash park only available to kids under 12 so you can't join them. Poolside snack bar is crazy expensive and plays ridiculously loud club music all day. For a family resort I find this baffling. I don't think it's appropriate for young kids to be hearing Akon 'Smack that' all day. Plus no one could eat inside because it was deafening. The staff must have hearing damage. Breakfast is plentiful and varied, but we tried dinner one night (€26 for an adult) and the selection was awful, particularly for kids and vegetarians, absolute waste of money, it was cheaper and better to eat in town. Definitely avoid!! There's a bar in the evenings which was very quiet and relaxing each time we used it, with reasonably priced cocktails. Location is very convenient, close to a small town and a nice beach, and the little shop on site is very convenient.

I'm here at the moment just me and my two little girls (6&11) We've come for 10 nights and I'll be totally honest, when I booked this last year the reviews seemed really good. When I started to check over the last few weeks before I arrived, I panicked and started to think I'd made a mistake. When walking into the hotel, it seemed lovely, nice tiled flooring, receptionist was lovely and friendly and always seem really nice and helpful when ever I ask and questions. Our room: the room is basic, the beds hard but to be honest we've slept really well. Especially my two girls. The room is very spacious and we have sun on here all day. We have two beds pushed together and a single bed. So works well for us. The balcony is large too. The bathroom is tired but it does the job, it's not falling apart, and now we've settled it's forgotten about how tired it is. We only use the room to change, sleep and shower. So no problems from us. Breakfast: honestly was dreading this after reading the reviews. The breakfast is fine! Pancakes and fruit for the kids. Plenty of choice of eggs, which is what I have every day. One morning we had breakfast out across the way at Bonkers bar which was lovely! Pools: gob smacked at how I don't have to get up every morning to find a few beds! There's always somewhere to go. The busiest pool is the one facing the beach and on the other side of the bar. The newer pool and the pool with the slides you seem to always have spaces even later on in the day. People do leave towels out all day and you don't see the using them until later on in the day. Which is VERY rude when you have children and no where to go in the shade! Prices: I'd say same as at home. Everywhere is the same. Generally your talking 10 euro per meal for something basic like spaghetti bolognaise etc. Waterpark: you can book the water park from the hotel reception, we went yesterday and had so much fun. Kids loved it. There's a lot of big slides and 2 big parts wirh multiple smaller ones on. 85 euro for the 3 of us including pick up and drop off from the hotel. Food is expensive and the queue is ridiculous! Location: very close to everything, bars, pubs etc. Perfect on the beach. Can't fault it. Would I come again? Absolutely yes I would, other than the rooms being tired. Everything else we've loved! L

This once 4-star resort has lost all right to earn their 4-star rating. Parasiting on their once proclaimed stars, and the location of this resort close to the beach, we have experienced nothing to view this as 4-star. I'll sum up our experience, and probably I'll forgot some: - sub-par maintenance. The state in which the rooms (also the appearantly 'newer' part) is horrendous. The soap dispenser hangs on by a thread. The sink has such gunk build up, whenever water runs through it the smell is enough to make you vomit.  The shower has water going everywhere and it won't flow into the roster but towards the toilet soaking the entire bathroomfloor. The pools have broken stairs all over, the tiles are broken (leaving wounds and cuts!), the water-park for kids has aged in such a manner, it's poor to say the least. - staff: where the mainstreet has such friendly Greek people in the restaurants with excellent service, the hotel is the opposite. There is nothing friendly from any staff member and they rather get rid of you than doing anything to give you a pleasant stay. The kitchen isn't even run by Greeks and you notice that with the poor breakfast (but more on that in the food review section). Their English is poor but that's ok but they don't even take an extra step to really understand you and they just leave you hanging on questions. Grumpy personal at their mini-shop and also constantly on the phone making you wait untill they finished their sentence or call. Lifeguard who should guard the kids' waterslides does nothing but constantly be on his phone. Claiming there is no room/ availability left for a late check-out while a lot of rooms remain empty (we know because our flight was late in the evening) because they don't want the hassle and after 4pm cleaning (cleaning leaves at 4pm) made our last day not worth it. Also, they tell you to leave your luggage besides reception but the door that should close the luggageroom is broken and won't shut properly. The luggage remains unattended leaving you to check on your luggage regularly. Also, they keep (hold on) to your passport (and will not give it back) untill you paid the climate tax in cash! Last year, in a different hotel on Zakynthos, I could pay by card. The fact I had to leave my passport with them, unattended, gave me a very weird feeling. They said the payment in cash because of certain rules but that whole experience made me feel very unease. They could have done anything with my passport and personal info, it can easily lead to identity fraud! - food: breakfast is so poor, nothing close to good (or Greek) food. The fruit is cut in half which makes it all brown and old. The eggs are baked in a deep layer of oil so you want to avoid that to not get any stomach cramps. The drink-machines are constantly broken and when opened to fix them, you see their product and wonder why they just don't serve it from their original (Supermarket)cartons. The poolside bar serves overcooked Gyros, Super
