Blonduos, Ósar Vatnsnesvegur 🧭 Map
Very difficult for 2 families to use kitchen and bathroom during peak busy times such as morning and dinner cooking.
Hostel that is better than many guesthouses
Hostel that is better than many guesthouse with nice location with panaromic view and short distance to Hvitserkur. My daughter love this place the most compared to oth guesthouses and hotels we stayed. Got a huge room that can sleep 5 for 3 of us with nice view to the ocean. There are 3 levels in total for this property with shared kitchen equipped with...
They beds were fine, once you made them. You have to put on your own sheets, pillowcases, and even duvet cover. But for the price it isn't bad. The bathrooms werent awful, but they were kind of dingy and cramped. Also, this place is Farrr from civilization. The closest shop was 40 minutes away.
It was a kind of old building and the interior was outdated as well. We couldn’t use the shades at the window as they were broken - as it never gets dark in summer, it was very unpleasant.
It was very clean though but nevertheless, I had superior stays in Iceland for that price, especially as you had to make and strip your own bed.
Owner, however, was very friendly.
Absolutely beautiful location! Close to the ocean with picturesque mountains and lush fields. The hostel is well equipped and comfortable.
Getting there was a bit rough , not crazy difficult but it’s gravel road.
The view is awesome.
The owner has provided a full kitchen and washing machine etc.

Blonduos, 10 Blondubyggd, 530 Blonduos, Severo-Zapadnyy okrug, Islandiya 🧭 Map
Blönduos is not the most obvious tourists' destination in Iceland, but my friend and I felt very welcome there thanks to this hostel, and its very friendly owner. The house is located in the old village center, with its interesting ancient buildings and the very useful café / pub / local shop / knitting workshop at its heart, and is only few steps away from the magical place where river Blanda...
I'm born and raised in Blönduós but haven't lived here since 1985. This trip was a visit to participate in my grandmothers 90 birthday. It was quite nostalgic to be here and experience these old houses taking ona totally different function then back in the days. We stayed two nights in Gamla posthusid which means the old post office. And I remember when this place was a post office. Now the place...
Under new management and had gone some renovation. Only a few rooms are open at the moment and the lights are controlled by the owner. He can switch it on and off or dim or brighten it. Patio that has an amazing view and good to stay as long as it is not windy. On a good weather it is walking distance to the supermarket and atm machine. Old Blonduos church nearby and a few steps away to see where the...
This is more of a hotel room experience as opposed to a hostel. Well appointed rooms, friendly host and host dog. The only drawback is shared bathroom. For peace and quiet, this is a great choice!
Very nice and wellcomming. Nice kitchen free to use. Good wifi. We had a free room upgrade. Breakfast in the hotel was nice. Nice views from the room and really calm athmosphere. We had the keys and then we were free to get in and out of the house. Furthermore, the housekeeper was very kind and also gave us some advice on our trip. All clean and comfy beads. Totally worth it.
Friendly people, clean rooms, very nice view. Been there with a Baby, was perfect because really quiet! Would recomment it!

Dalvik, Hafnarbraut 4, 620 Dalvik, Severo-vostok Islandii, Islandiya 🧭 Map
We had a wonderful three days in the area around Hostel Gimli in Dalvik and enjoyed the warm welcome and homely atmosphere. The fish soup is truly legendary, and it's served in a lovely tavern, well worth a visit. The hostel owner, Mr. Gunnarsson, is very helpful and quickly came to our aid when we locked ourselves out or forgot our backpacks. Thanks so much for that, and also for all the tips. See...
Great location. Beautiful view. Nice host who is helpful. Information brochures and many maps of the area are available at the property. Clean and pleasant!
Highly recommended!
Thank you for your understanding, help and kindness .
A very cozy and beautiful place, owned by a nice and welcoming couple !
Don't forget to get upstairs , just for the view !
Takk fyryr vinurminn 🙏
Ps : get a fish soup and a kaffi down there and check the beautiful theater !
Visited to escape from the rain on my camping trip. Lovely host, and rooms hot water, WiFi and all facilities were ideal. I slept well in my single room and enjoyed my stay here.
Well located near to shops, restaurants etc, and is close to hiking trails on the hills behind as well.
5 stars just because it's not possible to put 6 or 7.
The owner Bjarni was very comprehensive with me and accepted to host me even if it was a closure day.
The room was clean, welcoming and warm.
Amazing hostel in a beautiful town.
If you pass from this side of Iceland don't miss to spend some time in Dalvik and in the Gimli Hostel
The owner was very friendly and communication was really clear, he gave us some useful recommendations for our next jurney and activities. Great kitchen and a tidy room.

Our hosts were amazing to us. We were truly taken care of from check in and getting all set with room.
Centre located to check out coffee shop and Eatery.
The only drawback is the parking a 2mins walk from the house, rather than just at the house. Everything else is great. I can see the mountain from the front porch. The kitchen is well equipped and good for cooking dinner. Room is bigger than peers. Bathroom is decent, though the shower room is too tiny. Check in time is more lenient than peers (anytime after 3pm). One of the top 3 accommodations on...
Exactly what you would expect from a good hostel. Clean, with easy access, well equipped communal kitchen, free parking right up the street, walking distance from grocery store, restaurants, and the shore.
Very nice area, the hostel was clean and the check in process was easy. Would stay here again.
Value stay for a self-catering accommodation, very convenient and well equipped.
Very nice place. Love the neighbourhood. Even though in the midst of thunderstorms, we can feel the warmth in the place. Everything is perfect at the place.

Room was clean and well supplied, staff-free facility, security, lighting seemed adequate, good location for me.
The room was a good size and very clean. The only slightly negative thing was not enough coat hangers but other than that, a great stay
The bed was comfortable and the room warm however there is no cooking facilities and my apps. wouldn't recognise the old TV nor were there free to air availability. Location was good, staff inattentive though.
Close to dining ,shopping ,.. clean comfortable room easy check in and check out small refrigerator, electric kettle, coffee maker that wr didnt use good communication
Very nice guesthouse with excellent, service oriented staff. Functional kitchen, amenities and clean common areas.
Towels were provided in the room but it is shared toilets. Things were generally clean but quite worn. Communication from the property was prompt and in advance which was good.

Menu was reduced to some soup bowls for some reason. They were tasty but small. It wasn't enough for a meal, so we ended up walking to the gas station for some food and deserr. Beer prices were reasonable.
The hostel have very spacious parking for the guest.
Dorm room is clean not too packed.
Share toilets and showers have many. Enough for the guest.
Highly recommend to stay.
Love how it was a hostel, bar, restaurant all in one building. Was able to check in grabbed had some bite and a beer to relax after a long day. Was perfect.
So this is me looking back at our Iceland "Tour" and the highlights. Ironically, despite the waterfalls (very numerous), glaciers, black beaches and ice caves one of the stand out moments was our visit to this establishment...I kid you not!. We dropped in for a coffee.....a complete surprise, it was very very relaxing. If I lived here it would be my "local". The owner was very welcoming. I could...
The bed mattress was thicker than the dormitory standard, so I slept well. The soup at the restaurant next door was delicious.
Dropped in for a coffee. Best we have tasted since arriving from Scotland.Owner was really welcoming and friendly. Cafe/ bar surroundings were perfect. Wish we had more time to spend here. Would highly recommend a visit.

Skogarfoss, Vistarvegur 1, 861 Hvolsvollur, 861 Skogarfoss, Yuzhnaya Islandiya, Islandiya 🧭 Map
The room small but comfortable. I like the kitchen, feel clean, bright and comfortable.
The accommodation conditions are satisfactory and the environment is very clean.
The hostel overall fit the need. Clean, spacious and quiet. However the price for a room is definitely debtable. While location was perfect (bang next to Skogafoss), It was one of the most expensive stays we had in Iceland and the amenities were either at the same level or even lower than some of the other places we stayed.
It is a hostel, so the facilities are bare minimum but functional.
For the money we paid, definitely not value for money.
Clean, quiet, and well-equipped. Good value for money.
Nice location , no reception but all are available and you can ask if anything required. Nice common kitchen with a coffee machine and free coffee.

Akranes, Sudurgata 32 🧭 Map
The room was large, cosy and nicely furbished; we haven't overheard any other rooms, neighbours.
Cleanliness wasn't perfect both in the room and in the common kitchen (the oven was so dirty it has smoked and triggered the fire alarm during use). During our one night stay we haven't met any staff member, even the direct phone at the door wasn't working.

Vik, Suðurvíkurvegur 5B 🧭 Map
This hostel was much better than I thought it would be and for the price it's a really good value. Whoever is in charge of cleaning they honestly need a raise! You could literally eat on the floor. The room and the toilets were absolutely sparkling. From what I saw it has 2 toilets with shower and an extra bathroom with 3 more toilets, I never had to wait to use any of them. It also has a full equipped...
If you’re headed to Vik, this hostel has affordable accommodation in a fabulous setting on top of a hill with great views. The dorms have lots of room for your bags, shared bathrooms are kept clean and the kitchen is well equipped. The private rooms are especially large, great views, comfy couch and plenty of space to do some yoga. They sell eggs from their chickens that roam their property, and beautiful...
We found this place to be quite good other than the high cost. There was free parking, a good room with spotless shared bath, and the kitchen and rest of the place were all very clean. Some minor noise at night, but nothing to keep us up. We booked late so we got walloped on price, but so it goes.
We loved our stay at vik hi hostel ! Even though we never saw anyone at the reception it was not a problem at all and the self check in was really convenient for us. The dormitory and the bathrooms were super clean and the shared kitchen was great and very useful ! And there were a lot of chickens, ducks, horses, dogs and a cat : so nice to watch them and play with the dogs !
Great location. Room had a great view of the ocean. Up on a hill. Breakfast included. Kitchen was nice and big. Close to the main vik area. really a nice cozy place with dogs, a cat and few bird species to keep you occupied.
Easy life
Very comfortable atmosphere. Friendly guests and owners. Very cozy.

I have never stayed in a hostel before this one. I found it clean, and hospitable. The owner Beggi was not there when we needed to check in but was easily reached by phone and there in 2 minutes. He owns 2 business on the island and is quite knowledgeable. Our rooms could be locked with a key, and had a warm heater for cold nights. There are 4 showers with doors that lock from the inside. The showers...
We had a two beds private room. The room was decent. The shared bathrooms were very clean. They have a small little stove and we were able to cook our dinner. The staffs were very friendly.
Very friendly staff. Accommodated our very late check in due to a delayed ferry. Comfortable beds, hot showers, and clean bathrooms. Very reasonable price. Would stay here again.
Very cute European style hostel. The owners were very friendly and excited to chat about their recommendations of places to visit. This hostel has a very cosy feel. The bathrooms and showers are shared by other guests, but they all have locks on the doors and provide plenty of privacy. We were going hiking to Stórhöfði, and one of the owners was nice enough to drive us to the top so that we could enjoy...

Reykjavik, Laugavegur 58b, Midborg 🧭 Map
Located in downtown Reykjavik, this little hostel still offers you a quiet environment for your stay. The owners are nice and friendly and also very caring about you. They offer you a bed in a small, clean building, which definitely is the best value for money you can get. I very much recommend you staying a few nights there!
Hostel is very small. And rooms are very bright and muggy in the evening. It was one of the cheaper options so I guess you get what you pay for, but there are no common areas so people tend to hang out and be loud in the sleeping area. Also no hreakfast. Wouldn't stay again, and I am a budget traveler.
Fabulous location, affordable cost considering every other place in Reykjavik. The managers who work there are so accommodating and very friendly. Very clean facilities, and has a kitchen and fridge that every guest is free to use. Highly recommend staying here, especially for anyone on a budget.
This is one of the friendliest places I've ever stayed. The owners work hard to ensure that everyone feels welcome and give some excellent travel advice for exploring Iceland. Because of this wonderfully welcoming atmosphere making friends and getting to know people. I'd recommended this hostel to anyone. It is spotlessly clean, accessible, and in a great location.
Great little hostel in the heart of Reykjavik. Run by the nicest family who's personal touch makes you feel at ease. Lots of bathrooms and they keep the place extremely clean. If you are looking to a nice hostel experience then stay here.

Friendly staff, free wifi, kitchen has plenty of cooking ware (but is a bit crowded at dinner time).
Place is clean, for the price amazing. A grocery store is close and there is a fridge you can use when labeling your food. The place has a piano, plenty of tables and chairs and even a few couches. The doors for the rooms are locked with keypads so no key is needed and checkout is very easy.
We changed our plans to stay on Reykjanes peninsula in our camper due to high winds the night before our flight home, stayed at lava instead for shelter. Really great campsite, good toilets showers washing machine. Pre booking online advised as it fills up fast. Hostel adjoining had food share facility which was great for the end of our week
Alexander, the manager, is incredibly helpful and a constant ray of sunshine in the hostel. The hostel is clean and well kept. Highly recommended staying here.
Great affordable hostel in a beautiful city with a very nice host. There is a shared kitchen and a washing machine which is handy. There is also a food-share shelf where you can take leftover food from previous travelers. It was a pleasant indoor stop on our otherwise camping trip.
Super friendly staff, great kitchen with fridge, stoves, oven and common kitchen equipment, four showers. The rooms are great and there is a lot of space in the common areas.
The staff was just super friendly and helpful. Campsite and hostel are very clean. And everything was inclusive like washing machine, showers etc. had a great stay!! Clean and nice 👍🏼

Vibrant Iceland Hostel is a cheap, but still valuable, hostel just right at the gates of Reykjavik (10 minutes driving from the very inner city).
The Check-in is perfect and even guests that arrive late in the evening can come in thanks to a code provided by the staff.
I found the hostel very clean, the kitchen is well furnished and well organized, the bathrooms (placed both in the first and second...
This place was really clean for a hostel but it was a bit expensive (it's Iceland though so it's to be expected) and the towels had to be rented. There is a lovely big shared kitchen where you can label your own groceries and a great community room with many chairs and clean facilities. The rooms have 3 bunks in them so just beware of other people (especially romantic couples). Really great overall...
The hostel is somewhat self-reliant. The beds were simple and comfortable and the toilets were spacious, clean and offers hot water.
The location is nearby to some of the supermarkets, but we bought most of our stuff at the supermarkets that were nearer to the International airport.
Overall, it was a good and affordable stay for short-term stays near the city, provided you have a rented car with...
Wonderful hostel to stay in, the beds allow for a lot of privacy and darkness (especially in the summer!) The kitchen is fully equipped and the free coffee was a really nice bonus! The best part about this hostel was the cleanliness, and the large showers. The staff members were all very helpful, and generally friendly. The only downside is that its far away from downtown Reykjavik, but the city bus...
Great hostel! The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were an interesting set up, 4 double sized bunk beds with curtains to help with Iceland’s constant light in the summer. Full kitchen with anything you would need plus room for you to site your food. Only downside is that there were no lockers to lock your things away. Luckily we had a car so we kept all our valuables on our bunk while...
