Reviews
The best part is the location, it’s really close to the city centre, but you still get beautiful views of the rice fields and nature. It feels peaceful and quiet, away from the busy streets.
The breakfast was good, the room was huge and comfortable, the shower was great, and the swimming pool was really nice. I especially loved how quiet and relaxing the whole place is.
Definitely would stay here again if I come back to Ubud!
First of all the staff is amazing - this has nothing to do with them.
If you’re looking for a clean, basic place to stay in Ubud then this is definitely a good fit. I usually stay more in the center of town but I wanted to be closer to the yoga barn (ended up being a moot point, keep reading.) The rooms are clean and spacious but sparse, basic and showing signs of wear and tear. They also felt the need to point out that they have a policy for staining the linens. Which. Ew. Another review said the towels are a bit musty - and they are - thankfully I saw that and brought my own towel.
I didn’t love that there is no staff / security after 11PM. As a solo female traveler safety is a top priority so there not being any staff or security at night was a bit unnerving.
The area around the hotel leans more local and less polished than the center of town. It’s very difficult to walk around, there’s very little sidewalk to walk on and the tiles on the sidewalks that are there are loose and dangerous. I took a bad fall on a loose tile the day I arrived and sprained my elbow badly so I couldn’t even do the yoga I stayed in this area for.
Overall you are getting what you pay for here. If you think you discovered a hidden gem - amazing price and amazing 5 star reviews - you’re not. It’s basic & budget but gets the job done.
It rained a lot, so we stayed at the hotel for a long time, but it was comfortable. The connecting rooms on the second floor had a balcony. The view from there was amazing, and we enjoyed afternoon tea and the view of the rice fields. The food was delicious, and we could enjoy dinner at the hotel.
The staff were friendly.
Despite our late check-in, the team went above and beyond the next morning by arranging an early breakfast just for us since we had to leave before regular breakfast hours. The food throughout our stay was excellent the nasi goreng was especially delicious and full of flavor.
Our room was spacious, spotless, and beautifully designed, with a lovely view overlooking the rice fields calm, green, and so relaxing. The restaurant’s outdoor seating area was another highlight, perfect for enjoying the peaceful surroundings.
The area itself is wonderfully quiet and peaceful, yet still close to all the main attractions and cafes in Ubud, making it the perfect balance between relaxation and convenience.
The staff were genuinely kind and attentive in every way. Special thanks to Eka, Putu, and the entire team for their warm hospitality. They even helped us arrange a scooter for exploring the area, and the in-house traditional Balinese massage was truly exceptional. I had some knee pain before arriving, and after the massage, it completely disappeared such skilled therapists!
Overall, everything about our stay exceeded expectations from the welcoming atmosphere to the food, comfort, location, and service. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience authentic Balinese warmth and tranquility.
I had an absolutely fantastic stay at Hotel Byasa! From the moment I arrived, Eka welcomed me with such warmth that I instantly felt at home. The entire staff treated me like family throughout my stay, making every interaction a delight.
The property is stunning—the pool is amazing, surrounded by lush gardens that back up to a serene rice field. I loved waking up to the sights and sounds of nature: birds chirping, butterflies fluttering, and even the occasional lizard adding to the charm. It’s a perfect blend of tranquility and beauty.
My room was spotless, and the air conditioning worked exceptionally well, keeping me cool and comfortable. I treated myself to an in-room massage, and the therapist was incredibly skilled— I slept like a baby afterward! The location is ideal for exploring Ubud. I walked to Yoga Barn every morning, and there’s a fantastic health food store just a 2-minute walk away, plus an ATM and a larger grocery store within 5 minutes.
I can’t recommend Hotel Byasa enough for anyone seeking a peaceful, welcoming, and well-located retreat. I’ll definitely be back!
The room is large, as is the bathroom. The water and sewage systems are adequate. Nice touches include slippers, sewing supplies, a minibar, a water cooler, umbrellas, books, and a large balcony with chairs and a table.
There are plenty of outlets, air conditioning, and a Samsung TV without Russian channels, but there's a Wi-Fi router in the room, so you can connect to your own account.
The breakfasts are excellent: pancakes with coconut milk or chocolate, fried eggs, omelettes with vegetables, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, sausages or French fries, juice or fruit, tea, coffee, and two other Balinese breakfasts with a fried egg.
The pool is clean, not very deep, and is open until 11 PM with lighting. It's located near the main street, with a cafe and minimarket just steps away.
We had a massage at the hotel, done in our room, and it was excellent 👍
This is the kind of hotel you'd want to return to.

Excellent service
Nice outside seating as well
The colors, smells and taste of the dishes brought me back to the eateries in Bangkok. I was surprised to learn that the dishes were cooked by locals and not Thais.
I enjoyed the grilled pork and tangy sauce. The deep-fried chicken wrapped in leaves was succulent, and the fried fish was crispy with moist flesh. The steamed custard mixture of Thai herbs wrapped in banana leaves was soft, fragrant and generous with seafood. The crunchy papaya salad with vinaigrette notes was a great way to start the meal. I lapped everything up with rice wrapped in leaves.
