We stayed here earlier this week. The rooms were newly updated and very spacious. We had a large outdoor terrace with two beautiful clean pools to choose from. Several of us ate dinner at Mannas Restaurant on site, and all the food was delicious. A jazz band play wonderful music that evening. Our breakfast the next morning was excellent, with lots of food options to choose from. We highly recommend staying at Gajah Biru if you are visiting Ubud.

What can I say about my stay at Gajah Biru? It was everything I could have dreamed of and more! Perfect location, perfect accommodation, beyond perfect staff. I HIGHLY recommend this property for anyone wanting to stay in Ubud. I stayed for 4 nights with my husband for our honeymoon/1st year wedding anniversary. We booked the whole of the Jasmine Villa with a private pool all to ourselves, it was outstanding. We were made to feel at home from the moment we arrived. There wasn't a single staff member that didn't go out of their way to make us feel welcomed and looked after. We had already started looking at flights for next year before we had even left. The only bad thing? That we actually had to leave. This made me extremely emotional, yes I had a little cry. So for anyone thinking about booking a stay here, DO NOT hesitate, it's even better than the pictures, believe it or not! Thank you Gajah Biru, until next year. Love Carla & Wayne. UK.

Needs a little TLC but its still very nice otherwise! Everything is relaxed, nice and comfortable. I was pleased with my stay overall

Everything was great. The owner treated us very well. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and cool, close to the center of Ubud, and the option to rent a motorbike and provide laundry service at a very good price. We will definitely return.

If it were possible to give an even lower rating, I would. Villa expectation/reality. Everything is old, broken, dirty. All the curtains in the run-down closets, the bathrooms are dirty, leaking, there is a hole instead of a drain, the windows have such gaps that during a rainstorm water flows straight into the house. But the worst thing is the living creatures! On the first day, we killed 2 huge cockroaches in the bathrooms the size of a finger. But on the first night, we decided not to pay attention to the shortcomings, anyway, we were only going to spend the night in this room. On the second day, when we came in the evening after a walk, we found traces, or rather, rat droppings! Naturally, we were not going to stay with children with such an animal in the house. The only thing the hotel manager offered was to clean up. They did not come to clean up even once in 2 days, and when we left, they said that we should have asked them about it. We packed our things and left at night with the children, having found a free room elsewhere. We were not compensated for the taxi, nor were we given a refund for the last day. I have attached a photo. For this money and even cheaper you can find clean and safe accommodation, so my advice to you: anywhere but here.

I was a bit worried about the sheets being a little dirty, but the receptionist was kind and there were lots of cafes around, so it was a comfortable stay!

We stayed 3 nights at Gajah Biru in their Cinnamon room and found it a mixed experience. It’s a good location in a lovely garden of flowering plants with a pool and we’d wake to bird song. The staff were friendly and helpful and their family’s restaurant across the lane, Two Sisters, was quite good. The ceiling fan and ac both worked well which we were glad for. The problems we had are fixable and we shared them with the owner so hopefully they’ll be repaired for future guests. The thatch on the ceiling of the room sheds an unfortunate gritty dust that is particularly a problem above the bed. They have cardboard laid high above the bed between the 4 posters to catch most of it, but it doesn’t extend across all of the bed and we’d wake with sore throats from what fell during the night. Our sink had trouble draining and the shower was only a trickle, but we think the head just needs replaced. There were also quite a few bugs in the bathroom, but that’s not uncommon in Bali and there was a shy little toad who would come out at night to eat them. :) We also suggest that during such hot weather the hotel not put heavy European style duvets on the beds but just thin sheets. We give the grounds and staff a 5 and the shower and bed a 1. If repairs are made we would stay again, but we’d check the room first, and hopefully the other rooms don’t have these issues.

Large and beautiful rooms (be careful not all air-conditioned), friendly team, car-free alley, top massage, top swimming pool

The room was ok not clean as I would Have liked bathroom was questionable . I stayed one night as we arrived late. Went to have a shower no running water the front desk said give me a hour to get it working 2 hours later not working still. I decided to leave I was booked to stay a week but did not won’t to ruin my holiday. As the reasoning they said was they are new management for pour handling of the matter.

When will balinese restaurant owner learn that dogs don't belong inside a restaurant?! First we had to fight our way passing the hauling dog at the entrance. Than three big wet dogs lingered around us and molested us while eating. Its annoying and not hygienic!

I literally just had THE BEST pasta carbonara of my life! Never thought that I'd have that in Bali, haha. The food in this place is SO tasty!

I do believe that it's one of the top 5 in ubud, amazing food and service. It

We ordered the chicken curry and the pumpkin soup - worst food in town - really. The curry was very bad, no vegetables, no herbs, just sauce and chicken pieces with bones and skin. The soup was like a cream without any taste. Maybe the other western food is better but who wants western food on Bali?!

Just prices a touch unreasonable, even for tourist levels. It's also right on a pretty busy road...So quiet and smoke free it isn't. That being said, food and service were good quality....

So if you're looking for indian food you have a couple of options in Ubud. The restaurants, good but VERY expensive, you got warung little india, with BIG prices and you got Sharaswaty. Fair and fair. Try the eggplant dish with chapati. Samosas too.
28.09.2017 Blake
Fresh, hot, authentic, masterfully crafted vegetarian & vegan Indian food. Beautiful ambience upstairs, bamboo architecture and down-low seating. A sweet kitty met us upstairs and snuggled us while we waited to order. It's next to a noisy street. Still worth 5 stars. Nice people.

Good price. Samosa and chappati were good. Felt the paneer was cut too small and the tikka paneer dish resembled paneer tomato soup. The sauce needed thickening. Cheap tho
12.08.2017 Narayan
Good option for vegetarians in this area. Fairly priced hence good value. Menu is limited but that's fine because anyway one orders 2-3 dishes. Chapathi was nice. Food tastes more like homemade than the hotel variety. Ambience upstairs was nice. Lassi was a bit of a let down
05.05.2017 Meiyi
The food here is amazing, try the eggplant dish with Chapati! It is definitely not the most authentic Indian food, but it is tasty. Their service could be better. The portion is small, and the price is on the high end.
