Park Hotel Cilento in Marina di Camerota

Having a disability made it impossible to adapt to the disappointing reality of claims made by the hotel: ‘Poolside bar’ was only accessible up steps and was not open during the afternoon. ‘Beachfront’ meant a 7 minute drive away from the hotel. The management were rude and defensive about our decision to leave and refused any refund.

I stayed with my family for a week in July... the rooms were comfortable, always clean, and always awaited.
The positive things.
- The sea was a long way to get there, an odyssey on a bumpy road with sewers in an open construction site. I pointed this out to reception, pointing out that I was pregnant with two small children, and they gave me equally unfeasible solutions. The sea was fabulous, beautiful, perhaps among the most beautiful in Italy, but they needed a shuttle service (they said it only runs during certain periods) or a more suitable beach resort.
- The restaurant offered excellent and plentiful food, but every day I told several waiters several times a day that I was pregnant and couldn't eat raw foods (cherry tomatoes, parsley, etc., basically because of toxoplasmosis). I felt like I was being mocked, and they would send me regular dishes... and I wanted to throw them at them. I stayed calm only to avoid ruining the vacation we paid handsomely for.
- Poor breakfast.
The restaurant area, 1970s/80s style, was completely abandoned, with chairs piled up, broken furniture, and disused. Lacking a bit of decorum and grace. The bedroom area and the restaurant area are two contrasting realities.
- The children's play area is dilapidated, broken, and needs to be removed, full of dirt, with no mat or lawn.
- The pool is unsuitable for children, old, and poorly cleaned.
- Far from the center and amenities. There's a supermarket, a snack bar, and a newsstand.
- Bar service, if you can call it that... an ice cream for €4, a cocktail for €8, absurd prices, whereas in the center of Marina di Camerota, the prices are normal and fair everywhere.
I'll return to Marina di Camerota, but never there again.
