The Sacco Hotel has many positive aspects. Its seafront location means you're on the beach in just two minutes. The abundant and complete breakfast includes sweet and savory items (including an omelette upon request). The clean rooms, ours on the top floor, were spacious and well-appointed with a large bathroom and a terrace overlooking the sea. Excellent cleanliness, and the staff was generally very...

This Hotel is in a great location above the Sassi area surrounded with restaurants and View Areas of the Sassi. Free parking on the street was easy, but not plentiful. It was easy to drive close to the Hotel to drop off our luggage and check in before finding parking for our car. The hotel is spotless with a great Breakfast selection. Our room had a spectacular view of the Sassi. Within minutes...
We had the most beautiful stay here at the Albergo Italia, Matera. Made even more special by Paolo, he went out of his way for us, even securing us restaurant bookings, when the restaurant seemed booked out, nothing was too much trouble for him. Matera was a real bucket list place to visit for us, and the Albergo is so central and has such a great view over the city. Even with the central location...
Very comfortable hotel. View out our window is priceless! Staff is excellent. Breakfasts are incredibly varied. Location makes it so very easy to explore this remarkable town. Explore! Food options nearby are stellar. I recommend hiking across the valley!
The hotel has been recently refurbished to a really high standard. Room is nice, clean, comfortable.
Perfect location, right in the middle of everything. Our room had an amazing balcony and was very spacious. The only downside was that the WiFi in that room was not working while we were there, but the issue should be fixed now.
great location. experiences exceed expectations. recommended for female travelers. definitely return here when I visit Matera

This was our favorite hotel on the trip. The staff were great offering wonderful suggestions, arranging a tour and taxi to catch our very early train. They even have us breakfast before we left. ❤️ the room was beautiful. I can't recommend this hotel enough if you want to stay in the sassi caveoso.
Basiliani Hotel is truly a fantastic boutique gem! The location is perfect — close to everything yet peaceful enough to fully relax and soak in the atmosphere. The staff make all the difference: warm, attentive, and genuinely eager to make your stay exceptional. Every detail feels thoughtfully curated, from the beautiful decor to the welcoming ambience. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience...
Wonderful hotel in a great location in Matera. Each room was different and wonderful (we had four rooms). The staff was great and the transfers to/from the parking garage were perfect. We would absolutely stay here again!
Was unable to partake in breakfast. Most of the staff was very nice and helpful except the man (or shuttle driver) when we arrived that nite. I don’t appreciate being yelled at by staff at a hotel I paid for. Was not very understanding and rude.
It’s ok hotel for fit people but several areas of mold in the bathrooms ( we had friends in another room- same mold) is unacceptable! Extremely dangerous step down at the bathroom entrance- waiting for accident to happen! Great breakfast!
We were knocked out by the comtempory feel and stylish interior to what is simply a cave. It was fresh and perfect. The staff were so friendly and knowledgeable. Even the lovely lady at breakfast remembered what we liked to drink with our breakfast.

Basilicata, Matera, Via San Giacomo 27 🧭 Map
This was my second visit to Le Dodici Luna and we thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality of the staff and the lovely, spacious room. I highly recommend this hotel if you visit Matera. I also think it is worth staying at least two nights so you have time to see everything. The included breakfast is great and includes homemade yogurt.
The courtyard is charming and we were greeted warmly. During check in we were given a quick orientation of the old city with a map. Our room was comfortable and, as were were there during some clear November days, we did not experience dampness. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful.
WOW, Matera is a very unique place! To appreciate it, you need to walk lots of stairs up and down but its history and beauty are worth it! Most of the city is pedestrian with many important historical places to visit, like antic churches and museums. We stayed in Le Dodici Lune, a unique "cave" hotel, which has been completely renovated with all the modern facilities. Cinzia and Mariateresa are fantastic...
Lovely hotel located right in the caves of Matera. Welcomed by one of the owner who was amazing and available for every question we had and very helpful to find a delicious restaurant for our diner. Look at all pictures around as it shows you the tremendous work they have done for almost 7 years to renovate this place. Just amazing ! Rooms were comfortable and in the vaulted cave as well. I can admit...
Really lovely family room for the five of us, situated in a tranquil part of the old town. Very helpful and welcoming staff and delicious homemade breakfast. Touristic recommendations were great too. Luggage Looking forward to going back again.
When we first arrived to Le Dodici Lune we could not believe out eyes. The hotel is built into old caves in Stassi Caveoso and is a truly remarkable place. Our “room” was absolutely massive with a large bathroom too. The cave was amazing upon entry. The breakfast buffet was also very nice. However, the problem came at night when we got into bed and realized all the bedding was damp from the humid...

I was staying there for four nights, unfortunately weather was not good, so i couldnt swim at that magnificent beach there, which is about ten minutes of walk. Hotel has a pool (but you need swimcap or you must buy it). Staff was just great and helpful, although they spoke very little english (or me very little italian). Great view from the balcony of the room-coyld have spend much quality time reading or chilling there. Hotel a bit run down.
The rooms are really nice and ours had a great view. Breakfast was good, too. Unfortunately the WiFi was unstable. Overall well worth the (small) price.

I really liked that there was everything you could need to be comfortable. You can tell there is someone considerate behind the administration. Excellent value for money room, perfect location for visiting Sassi. Comfortable bed, clean bathroom and nice breafast. Check in and communication was fast and efficient!
The kindness and availability was excellent. Perfect location to leave the car and walk to the stones. Highly recommended
It was three beautiful Jordanians. Matera and the Murgia is unique and the position of the apartment practically in the stones allows you to live it in full day and night. Then the cleanliness and kindness of Marilisa who pampers you every morning with breakfasts with delicious and fresh products make you feel immediately at home. Thanks for everything!

One-night stay in October. The hotel deserves stars (cleanliness, quiet, pleasant welcome), but if you want to go out in the evening, forget it. Everything is closed at this time of year, and Policoro doesn't really have any appeal.
Beautiful location with well-kept and clean gardens, unfortunately the room was really small and we didn't like the restaurant at all
Spacious room, spotlessly clean including the pool. Camilla at reception was very helpful
Nice stay It was a nice stay with a really friendly stuff. The breakfast was amazing andvery good. Pool area is good to chill. Fresh orange juice and an upper service. Only the rooms need a refresh.
Great everything Great location, staff (very helpful), restaurant, food (wonderful pasta), room, view, car-charging, car parking, quiet, great everything!

The property is not properly finished. Although the staff were very helpful & bedrooms were good, it wasn't within walking distance of any restaurants as the surrounding area is undeveloped. However, there were buses into the centre about 7 or 8 minutes walk.
Chose this hotel because it is close to the bus stop where we took a bus out of Matera. Hence we had to walk about 20 minutes to reach Matera square. Hotel staff is friendly and helpful. We had all meals there and managed to cover all viewpoints planned.
Staff were very friendly and was easy to access most of the places by foot.
Overall, the stay went well, although the mattress wasn't the best and, more importantly, there were no extra pillows. This resulted in back pain and a stiff neck.
The drop down menu did not offer our dates. We stayed here in October 2019 - but I lost me sign on/password so only writing review now. We really enjoyed this hotel - very clean and everyone on staff friendly. The lady at the desk helped with taxi's. We found the breakfast buffet ample and tasty. I have been very well welcomed by the staff. All of them were very gentle and helpful. I think the price could be a bit lower. It is 15 min walking from the city center of Matera but the building, the pool are awesome

About as unique a lodging experience as I’ve ever had. The cave room was fantastic. The candlelight dinner prepared by Brunella is highly recommended.
I like it very much. The service is good and enthusiastic. However, this kind of characteristic hotel feels that it is enough to stay for one night to experience it.
We had the most amazing time celebrating love ! Truly magical experience, the service is impeccable and the location couldn’t be more breathetaking. Thank you so much
What an amazing place! Fantastic that the history of the area including the building has been so beautifully preserved. Congratulations to those responsible. A must stay on your travels to Matera!
The hotel service is very good, everyone is very enthusiastic, the environment is great, the scenery is also good, we paid extra to upgrade to the largest cave room, it was like living in nature, very warm with floor heating, the room was super quiet, the bath water was big and hot, the restaurant was beautiful, there was tea to drink, it was the best night's sleep we had.
Great place to experience the magic of Matera. Very nice breakfast in a large and atmospheric cave room. The cave rooms are cosy in early spring and definitely an experience. We opted in for the guided tour of Sassi which ended up being a highlight of our trip (many thanks to Alessio L).

A wonderful hotel where we spent six nights. The setting is beautiful and the service very friendly. The staff is super helpful. We ate dinner at the restaurant on several occasions and it was delightful. We really appreciated the kindness and generosity they showed to our dog who was traveling with us.
The hotel has panoramic views of the sea. The attention of the workers is excellent. The rooms are so nice, the beds so comfortables. And the food, well the food just make you feel exactly where you are, in Italy! I recommend this hotel without any doubt!

Paolo the receptionist is the best. Very easy to communicate, and he knows well the sassi area. Cleanliness and big room thats what we need
I've almost forgotten, it should be in Matura, a nice city. The hotel was good except for the price-performance ratio; the bathroom was huge, but the air conditioning was a bit insufficient. The bathroom and room were on different levels, probably due to the terrain.
My flight was delayed and my check-in time was in the middle of the night, but they waited for me. Of course, I had contacted them on the way there to let them know that I would be delayed. They were also very friendly and even carried my luggage for me. Thank you very much.
The best hotel I have visit for this trip. All staffs are friendly and helpful. Easiest way to reach hotel is to go to Matera Centrale via ferrovie train from Bari Centrale. Than a bus near the train station will fetch you the doorstep. Very efficient location.

Breakfast ok. Room was clean and comfortable. TV had no English speaking stations. Google maps showed hotel 0.4 miles away from actual location. Good hotel on the outskirts of Matera Hotel Cave del Sole was a nice hotel that was exactly what we needed for two nights exploring Matera.
