Villa Guarracino Hotel in Amalfi

Horrible host. Due to delay with the plane not allowed to check-in (which ended at 18:00). They then cancelled our 3 night stay due to a “no-show” without giving a refund. Only after several calls allowed to stay for 2 nights (not even the last night!!), under the condition we don’t tel Booking.com. Very unfriendly woman. Avoid at all costs!

I rarely leave reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience with this hotel. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that customer service was not a priority here. There was no proper reception desk, and checking in felt disorganized and unwelcoming.

The staff were noticeably unfriendly and unhelpful. When we asked for extra towels, we were met with resistance and eventually denied — a basic request that any decent hotel should be able to accommodate.

To make matters worse, the air conditioning in our room was barely functioning. Despite bringing it to their attention, no effort was made to fix it or offer an alternative. This made for an extremely uncomfortable stay, especially during the hot summer nights.

Overall, this was a disappointing experience. With so many great places to stay, I would strongly advise looking elsewhere.

Stay away. We are here right now and what a nightmare.
Our parents had to walk each day inspite of lift available but not operating.
They do not start it.
But this lady came by herself up always using the lift.
All bags had to be taken they the stairs.

Rude manager/Janitor in one. Owner always away, No one available for any kind of assistance and no numbers kept to emergency dial for alternate keys left in room. We had no one to assist for master key. Had to accommodate uncomfortably in other rooms.

Damper for booking 06 rooms of their total 8 rooms for our family vacation and reunion. Breakfast is cold toasts and cold milk. We pay for it and are given an attitude and comments in Italian for our simple request for a hot coffee. How hard is it????
Cheap management savings and totally unruly behaviour.
We are only keeping our cool as we cannnot reciprocate to such rude Italian behaviour experience not just here but across Italy.
Sad economy and yet high attitude.

What a horrific experience.

The owner was excruciatingly rude.

Check-in closed 18:00 and my trip to Amalfi got me there later than that and after paying for a sea view apartment in advance for 2nights the owner would not hear of assisting me despite warning her ahead of time that I’d be late.

I had to book elsewhere for the night and asked to check in the next morning, on the second day when I arrived, she refused to assist and went as far as telling the cleaner to throw my bags on the street. I’ve never experienced anything like it.

Furthermore, the location actually isn’t the greatest. It’s quite a way from the city and on a the narrow driving road so walking even to the bus stop is an extreme sport. The sea view you get is from the side so you don’t get Amalfi in all its glory.

You’re better off booking in the city center for convenience and the two other places I stayed at had fantastic service and the one an even better view at a cheaper rate so the rude owner is definitely not a reflection of the Amalfi way.

STAY AWAY from this dishonest hotel. I never write a bad review however this place deserved one.. This Hotel is not close to the the town of Amalfi! DANGEROUS ROAD, it takes 10 minutes to bus or golf cart down to town. Walking is a terrifying 20 minute walk on a narrow busy road, it’s almost impossible to walk down. The description is completely FALSE about being close to the Beach and main Amalfi area.
The rooms were clean overall, however, it wasn’t exactly what we expected. The website which showed images of the specific room had a walk out balcony with chairs outside, so we believed that was what we were getting. Our room did not have a walk out balcony and we were only able open the window to view outside which was a disappointment. When I asked why I didn't get the room described the Owner Jessica said NO that's not the room you reserved. We didn’t want to argue since the website didn't have proof of the rooms anymore. Trust me there were plenty of other issues more concerning. BE CAREFUL if you’re planning to book as you might not get what you want. This was the first dishonest red flag.
The breakfast option is VERY limited, and from what I understand from Jessica (the owner/manager), the only food options were boiled eggs, croissants with spread to select, cheese, salami, tomatoes, donuts and fruits.
There are only two staff members working during the morning, NO ONE IS THERE DURING THE DAY AND AT NIGHT!!!! You are given ONE key and if you lose it, you not only have to pay $50 euro you also have wait till Jessica gets off from her job in town at 12:00 am to bring you another KEY!!! First hand experience.
The Key opens the entrance of the Hotel, which means your on the street till she comes back.
JESSICA IS A NIGHTMARE!! She is rude and combative. She is never wrong and doesn't have any customer service experience.
Jessica speaks her dialect with the cleaning lady and her mom are around. She should be mindful that guests (me) understood all the rude and nasty things she said.
We came to Amalfi to enjoy family. This little hotel was disappointing, but It did not ruin our vacation, we were there to look at the beauty of Italy and we did.
