Hotel Residenza Sole - Guest House in Amalfi

Residenza Sole is a good place for a basic, inexpensive accommodation in Amalfi. The room was clean and simplistic, but had everything one could ask for. However, the shower was very small, and I’m not even a large person. They also had a decent continental breakfast. The lady who runs this place doesn’t speak English, which created a bit of barrier at times. This hotel is in a very prime location and easily walkable to main square of Amalfi. Overall, I had a good experience staying here for the night.

It was a good area to stay, a very central location to the Amalfi center. It's only a few minutes to the Amalfi Cathedral, restaurants, and shops. It’s like a bed and breakfast-style hotel. Breakfast is served daily, included in your stay, from 8 to 10 a.m.

I think the location is great. Breakfast is good. Clean place, but they some maintenance. Like in the shower the soap dish on the shower was broken. Just one screw can fix it. Also, they need new towels, They felt like sand paper.

This hotel saved my life!! I booked lacaravellapositano months in advance with dog and late check in. They didn’t have the room I asked and paid for and the room they gave me had floating staircase so my dog can fall off that anytime and break his neck or legs or even die... I had a huge fight with them, they didn’t have any other room available. I had to cancel that booking because of the safety of my dog while I go on tours or even when I’m there. I do not recommend that hotel!! This was late around 7-8pm. A lot of hotels don’t allow dogs. I was frantically calling hotels to see if they allow dogs, if they had availability for same day late (10pm) at night. I called this hotel and the lady was sooooo nice!! They had availability for may 14-17, and they allow dogs. She stayed later to help me check in. She said reception is open until 930pm. I said I’ll be there around 10pm she said she’ll wait for me. I ended up coming around 10:15pm. I called a few times to let her know I was still coming. Thank god she waited for me. When I got there, I called to figure out where the hotel was, it’s on the third floor (staircase next to the pizza place). She came out to find me and helped me with my luggage. Her helpfulness and friendly attitude melted away my stress, anger and upsetness from the other hotel. That same day, I came from Rome with luggage, did Pompeii tour then came to positano lugging my luggage around everywhere. I was running back and forth in positano trying to find the other hotel, go back to the bus station then go find a taxi all running back and forth with two rolling luggage and dog and huge backpack. I was soooo tired, stressed and upset. I am sooo thankful to this place. It was cheap, free breakfast, the room is huge!!! The shower is big!! I spend so much more money on other hotels all around Italy (Venice, Florence, Rome) and this room was the biggest with biggest shower. As a girl who doesn’t want to get her hair wet everyday I need big shower so I can move my hair away easily. lol I am very happy with my booking. Happy with the staff, happy with the breakfast. The view from the breakfast area is nice! The tables and chairs are sooo cute! Not sure if I can go on the roof but I’ll try that later! I owe this hotel my life!! I would’ve probably had to sleep on the street like a homeless person if not for this hotel. Thank you so much for taking me in last minute!! Highly recommend! This room does have an ac with remote, fridge in the closet, hair dryer. The closet has some hangers and blankets if you’re cold. Blankets have a very light smell like storage. They’ve prob been there a while and not used. I am fine with it. The bedsheets are nice, crisp and clean. The towels aren’t crisp. They look laundered but not crisp and clean. I don’t blame the hotel for this. I’ll still use the towels. Can prob ask for new towel but I’m fine with my towels. Also gave me extra towels maybe because I’m staying three nights or maybe they generally give three bath towels. Plus two medium towels and floor towel. There is construction going on nearby few places but that didn’t wake me up. I generally wake up very early and leave to get places when the sun rises to avoid crowds. Today I slept in from being tired from the day before. Breakfast 8-10am I got up at 9:30am brushed my teeth, got breakfast then came back to my room to rest a little more before I go explore Amalfi. Overall this is a cheaper hotel and they went out of their way to make everything accommodating and nice. I rate this place 10/10!!!

We had a very great time, the place is charming, with a warm welcoming and staff. The terrace is really beautiful and you can have your breakfast on it, really nice breakfast according to Italian standard. The room was clean, we really enjoyed it. Location is great, near the center but still quiet. Be aware you have to climb some stairs to get there, not so many stairs, but still.
