Hotel Villa dei Misteri in Pompei

The hotel is very dated and the staff apathetic. Can't trust the air-conditioned. Very rusty and noisy. The coffee served at breakfast tasted like bland water. The location to Pompeii is convenient. The swimming pool was great. The hotel itself is clean. But rooms, lack of efficient air conditioning and poor staff really let this hotel down.

Pool & location great but otherwise not a good experience. The pictures don't accurately reflect the rooms, which are very small. The AC was not strong enough to cool the room. Not ideal after hours at the Pompeii site in blazing hot 90+ degree weather and no shade. The electricity only works if the room key is plugged in so you can’t leave AC on to cool the room while you’re out, nor can you leave anything charging. The room had only a single outlet. The main bed was two rock-hard twin beds were shoved together to make a double bed. The second bed was a bunk bed that felt like it would tip over when we climbed to the top bunk. No shower (just bathtub with shower head) and the TV didn't work, which was ok for us but some might not like. The bedspreads seem to be made out of plastic? Also, the rooms are not cheap! It's too bad because the hotel seems to have once been quite beautiful. You can do better. Avoid
