Suites & Residence Hotel

We were placed in this ‘accommodation’ overnight after our flight home was cancelled. It bares no resemblance to the website whatsoever (photos or descriptions). The website states it is a 4 Star establishment, I understand that 4 star in the EU is not the same as in the UK, but this place was unrecognisable. Pro’s - the room was small but clean and the sole member of staff on reception was polite and tried to be helpful. Cons - Much further away from the centre of Naples than expected ( approximately 40 minute drive). In the middle of nowhere, down a side road in an industrial area. Very isolated location, no shops, bars, restaurants or food vendors within walking distance. There is No Restaurant on site, only a “breakfast room” which is open from 7am to 10am (breakfast is brought in from somewhere else). The WiFi was very intermittent and the electricity kept going off in our room. The TV didn’t work. Mini bar had two small bottles of water, there was a kettle but only 2 T-bags (camomile & earl grey) no milk. Stench from the drains is awful. Looks closed from the outside. Across the road is a municipal dump. The Best Western Residence is not a hotel, it’s more like a Motel, just rooms for hire. Fine if you’re visiting on business and just want a place to sleep. According to the website it’s perfect for families but it’s definitely not a place I would want to stay with children, nor would I visit again.

Smell was really bad here and it's way further from airport than they claim on advertising. We had two taxi/ubers cancel on us because of the location. Bed was also hard as a rock and we decided to change hotels and just pay because it was non refundable

I'd love to review this hotel but I can't. Our transfer driver from the airport dropped us outside with a look of dismay and confusion on his face. The hotel was all shuttered and closed up, and looked like it had been for a long time. We ended up in the neighbouring hotel which is apparently it's sister hotel, and is dated with few amenities. The area itself is industrial and nowhere near the beach, with nothing going on at the weekend, limited expensive travel options and only one cafe nearby which doesn't open at weekends.

I book flight+hotel on the edreams website with ADVANCE PAYMENT but a few days before leaving I realize that the hotel confirmation has not arrived, I call the hotel and no one answers. I look at the area and notice that next door is the 4-star American Hotel, I call them to ask for information, they reply that "they were about to contact me" because the Suites has been closed for a few days due to an air conditioning problem (dishonest has been closed for months), I decide anyway, given the mid-August period and the imminent departure, to stay at the American Hotel for the same price. I wonder how they can assign 4 stars to that TERRIBLE Hotel, with the smell of sewage everywhere and with staff annoyed by the slightest request for information. The hotel is in an industrial area, far from the center of Naples and above all poorly connected. If you don't have a car, I strongly advise against this hotel, it will cost you a lot of money by taxi (the hotel does not provide any shuttle), the only bus that passes is the 502 which leaves you at the Campi Flegrei station where you can take the train to the centre. Unfortunately, on the second night a strong storm created the atmosphere of a "nightmare hotel", the water seemed to be above our heads, it was raining on the stairwells, the same night we heard absurd noises, we looked out and the firefighters were breaking down a door because someone had felt ill. It looked like a scene from a movie. Room cleanliness acceptable but towels smelled. Rusty taps and broken doors in the bathroom, old fixtures, and I stayed in what they call a suite, SHAMEFUL! At breakfast you expect Neapolitan pastries, espresso coffee from a 4-star hotel and instead you find hard tarts, some mini puff pastries and coffee from a push-button machine. DISHONEST, at least offer a shuttle to the station if you say you have 4 stars!
