Rome Airport Hotel Fiumicino in Fiumicino

My family and I booked a room here on Aug 6-7.
We arrived at midnight with the intention of just waiting at the hotel instead of waiting at the airport. We were at the hotel for maybe 5-6 hours.

I do understand it was our misunderstanding. The room was booked for 4 and we had 6 people. In the USA, this is okay for us to do this. We assumed it’s okay here also. Plus we weren’t going to sleep there anyways so it seems unnecessary to book 2 rooms for this reason. But we understand that this is the policy. The front desk guy started yelling at us repeatedly and scolding us. It was actually scary and threatening. There is always a nice way to explain things but this guy went straight to yelling and he yelled for a good while. I don’t get why? It was so unnecessary.

We had a long day and didn’t feel like dealing with it further so we ended up booking another room. He asked if we wanted to add breakfast and we said no since we won’t be staying here that long and he proceeded to yell again saying it doesn’t matter we still can’t stay in one room. He kept going back to the same argument when we thought we were done with this since we’re already booking another room.

The first room we booked was very spacious and had 4 beds (which could have easily fit 6 people btw so this felt like a scam) I paid about $356 for this room.

The second room we booked last minute had one bed and it was about $170.00

The hotel smell was musty. I took a shower in the morning and the shower head holder was loose. When I turned the water on, the shower head moved and water got everywhere and the floor was slippery. That was actually dangerous.

I liked how spacious the room was and it was clean minus the smell. Location close to the airport was also good but will definitely not recommend anyone to stay here with that kind of service. He was nice the following morning when we checked out but man was that traumatizing.

The room leaks

The room is quite small. While I can appreciate this is Europe, you cannot sit on the toilet without your knees hitting the super small shower. The air conditioning didn’t work. Good thing it’s only March and it was cool in the evening. I also booked this hotel as it advertised a shuttle available but did not mention it’s 8€ per person each way. This would’ve been a game changer for staying at the Hilton Airport hotel. That was a mistake. Wouldn’t stay here again.
