Salgart in Merano

Amazing hotel with the friendliest staff!
Only airconditioning would optimise the experience. Apart from that, this hotel really has it all. The owners really care put in extra effort to make their guests feel welcome. Breakfast and dinner is also very nice and there's a different cake at the bar every day. Poolside is nice and not too busy.

We spent a week at the Salgart as part of an Inghams holiday, we had a first floor room with a balcony overlooking the pool, with views of the valley. The rooms are clean, comfortable and have a safe and plenty of space for clothes etc. It maybe lacks in some of the little extras such as bottled water, small fridge and a kettle, but thats only a minor detail. We had a half board stay and the food (home made/cooked) was excellent, the staff at the hotel are friendly and speak Italian, German and English, they were particularly helpful advising us on which buses we needed to catch. The pool is outdoor and heated, so even if its cool and raining you can still have a nice swim. The hotel is a good 10-15 minutes level walk from the centre of town, depending on how fast you walk, but the location is lovely and peaceful, and if you've booked half board you don't really need to go back out in the evening .

Very nice hotel , so clean , big rooms and very good , the bath is big and arranged well , free parking , free Wi-Fi , twelve minutes from the centre , the breakfast is excellent and includes so much to eat , The hotel is suitable for four stars at least , hope to visit again

This is a family run hotel and it is one of the most enjoyable stays we have had in a hotel for many a year. The staff were polite, welcoming, helpful and had a sense of humour. They could not have been more helpful. The rooms were lovely with a great sized balcony and good views. We thought the location of the hotel was excellent. It is only a 10 or 15 minute walk into town but it was situated in a lovely quiet area of the town. The thing that almost overwhelmed us was the quality of the food; it was absolutely first class. We really looked forward to our dinner every evening. It never failed to impress us.

We got a south-west facing first(not ground) floor room. Cannot give 5 due to mouldy bathroom.
The good and not as good points:
The outdoor pool is very nice.The bed is nice - firm but not hard.Balcony has nice view to the mountains and orchids.

The entrance(near bathroom) and bathroom has mouldy smell.
The shower room has no door, so water can spray out if not careful.
There is no small fridge in the room.
Can be noisy in late September, from Apple harvest tractor 🚜

A great family-owned mountain-view hotel located on woodsy grounds less than a 20 minute walk from the centre. Room was modern, clean and quiet (though no aircon and no minibar). The staff were warming and helpful. There’s a good quality breakfast buffet with a bright restaurant and a bar. The pool was well-kept. Good value for money, we will certainly come back.

Great stay! Love to walk to the city center surrounded by classic maisonettes with old big trees. Great hotel team, always ready to give you some excursions​ tips.

On the edge of town.idea if you have a car.Quiet, excellent food and drink and good outdoor swimming pool,very clean.Rooms are comfortable and clean.The owner and staff are excellent and very friendly.If you are on foot it is a good 15 minute plesant walk to town but another 10-15 minutes to the station.
