The rooms are clean and tidy, and the onsen features two indoor baths and an outdoor hot spring, which is very comfortable. The staff are extremely polite and professional, providing excellent service
We've never been to an "onsen" before but this hot spring is out of this world. We even get to dress like the locals. Great hotel and delicious delicacies. A must for first timers.
The hotel's location is excellent, just a 5-minute walk from Yubatake and a 5-6 minute drive from Kusatsu Station. The hotel also offers a shuttle service to and from the station
As for facilities, the hotel has a bit of history, so it shows some age, but the overall impression is still good
The location is excellent, with parking available. The dinner and breakfast buffet were delicious. The hotel's public hot springs were clean and had many pools to choose from. The staff were friendly and spoke English
The hotel's large public bath was spacious, although the outdoor pool was a bit small, only accommodating 3-4 people

The open-air bath in the large public bath is very comfortable, allowing you to enjoy the snow while soaking in the hot spring. The hot spring water is piped from Yubata Genyu, and the temperature is quite high
The hotel provides rain boots, but I recommend wearing thick socks as the rain boots are quite thin. We will walk into the forest and reach the ski resort. We will hike in the snow for about an hour
It was the first time I'd ever stayed in such a large room in Japan! The breakfast and dinner selection was varied and authentically delicious; the indoor and outdoor hot spring environment was absolutely first-class – a true resort paradise
A very good hotel with a free shuttle bus to Yubata, the train station, and the ski resort. The hotel is large and has comprehensive recreational facilities, including bowling, karaoke, and billiards
It's a long walk from the reception to the rooms, but you'll pass a large gift shop with prices the same as the gift shop next to Yubata, and you can even get tax-free shopping
The hotel's most unique feature is its series of walking/hiking activities, with three sessions in total. I participated in the 7:00 AM forest hike with a professional guide

The buffet had a wide variety of options, both in the evening and in the morning, and I was very satisfied. The dinner menu featured sushi and Joshu beef, and everything was so delicious that I ended up overeating
The porridge served for breakfast was a personal favorite. The hotel also has a convenience store and playroom, and you can enjoy a stamp rally, so I recommend playing while touring the building
Now Resort was very polite and kind, attentive, greeting, customer service, everything was the best. However, the room I booked through Trip was changed because it was not suitable for families
The hotel has excellent Onsen baths with hot spring water. You can book a separate room with a bath, this is a 24-hour service. The hotel has a shuttle service to the center of Kusatsu
There's also a shuttle bus to the Yubatake, making transportation easy. I was very satisfied with the room, food, and facilities, and I thoroughly enjoyed the hotel
Sparkling wine was provided in the room, and it was sweet, so even I, who usually don't like wine, enjoyed it very much

You can also use the shuttle during your stay. We visited in December, which is the off season and the shuttle operated till 9pm and on demand as you needed it. I wouldn’t miss the carrot-apple juice every morning
The room was spacious and the service was excellent. The location was also very convenient. I'm extremely satisfied! 👍
The room terrace during the autumn foliage season is truly dreamlike, beautiful in different ways both at night and during the day! It's worth coming just for the terrace and garden alone!
A special highlight was leaving a note on Trip
However, the service was outstanding. We requested assistance a few times, and every issue was addressed promptly. A special shout-out goes to the breakfast. I particularly enjoyed the seasonal main course: sesame udon
Nice and cozy hotel, the service was very good thought not excellent, and the limousine service is very convenient and friendly to use. However, the room deco was kind of outdated and show some wear and tear
The only minor drawback is that there was a noticeable humming sound in the room, whether it was the heater or some other machine running. It was loud enough that I could still hear it even with earplugs in

Very nice and clean place for the rest
Location is convenient for shopping to
The bathtub and shower booth aren't the most user-friendly, but since there is a large public bath, I guess it's tolerable. (After a short shower, the sink flooded. You have to be careful where you point the shower
Located approx 20min walk from the station, but close to the old Ginza street. The rooms are a little old but well maintained. There is an indoor and outdoor onsen on the third floor and breakfast is very good.
Last year I stayed at the Hotel & Resort and it was great, so this year I chose the Kyu-Karuizawa location for its convenience. I was very satisfied with the clean rooms and the attentive service of the staff
There are popular soba restaurants and bakeries on Kyu-Karuizawa Ginza Street, so I decided to eat there, and the fact that this hotel was within walking distance was a deciding factor in my decision
The only downside is that the young female staff member who helped me check out was very brusque and didn't even smile, which left me feeling very disappointed when I left

Special thanks to the front desk staff—their attentiveness and readiness to assist us at any moment truly made our stay even more special. We will definitely be back again soon
The fresh salad, the toast, and refreshing apple juice created a simple yet unforgettable start to the day. These little moments are now some of our most cherished memories
Great service staff and hotel that gave an old school charm. Breakfast was a continental style set which was great.
The room was dated but comfortable
We also appreciated the thoughtful touch of complimentary bottled water chilled in the refrigerator. Breakfast was absolutely a must-try
The room was quite spacious, even by Japanese standards for hotels. The environment was lovely, and it happened to snow during my stay, making the garden views absolutely beautiful!
The service is very polite, and the interesting old-fashioned key adds to its nostalgic charm. It is a bit pricey, though; weekday rates are much better!

During the day, we rode bikes or walked around, enjoying the cool 26-degree breeze of Karuizawa's summer! I've been to Japan many times, but this time, finding Willie's Hotel felt familiar and welcoming
We brought our child to a nearby summer camp and stayed at Willie's Hotel for six nights. The hotel owner and friendly staff helped us pick up and drop off our child at the camp
The nearby tranquil park, the exquisite and unique houses, the amazing century-old trees, the babbling brooks in the forest, and the pink and purple sunsets in the evening
This small but charming hotel is within walking distance of Naka-Karuizawa Station and the Stone Church, in a very quiet and pleasant environment
Every morning, we were nourished by a delicious breakfast in the warm morning light
Breakfast is excellent with fresh ingredients and cozy environment. Staff is super nice and helpful and provide extra ordinary service than expected. Highly recommend.

Conveniently located, only 10 minutes to the outlet! The environment and facilities are very beautiful! Spacious venue with great views! However, the service still has room for improvement, such as the lack of a send-off service and the lack of towels provided in the spa area
The room was huge with a living room and plenty of space for my youngest to roam around,
Staff was polite and explain to us in details during checked in,
The onsen (both indoor and outdoor) was modern and relaxing
Breakfast had vast varieties of food to choose from
The only cons was we were given a room on the far end of the corridor and it did took about 5mins walk from the room to the open bath...
Although the breakfast restaurant is small, it is very well arranged, which shows that the service is of high quality!
To take a hot spring bath, you need to bring your room card and towel! The temperature is just right, and it’s especially comfortable outside!
I wanted to visit the Shiraito waterfall and snow in Karuizawa so i thought it's a good chance to stay in a nice resort if it's not so expensive and Lucky I found this property which i think the price was reasonable and my experience from this stay was so enjoyable
The room is very big although it is a short walk from the station
But the hotel has a shuttle bus, you can ask
There are too many people for breakfast, so you have to queue up, but the food is delicious
The hotel has shuttle service to Karuizawa station or about 15 mins walk. The room was big and in Japanese style super cozy and the balcony allowed me to see the snow outside

The warm mug was a thoughtful touch. I never expected hotel coffee to be on par with an independent coffee shop; it added a bright, pleasant surprise to my stay. I'd definitely come back again just for this coffee
The coffee here was an unexpected delight! The beans had a rich aroma and a smooth taste, with a perfect balance of acidity and bitterness. A cup in the morning really woke me up for a lazy travel day
Delighted with this small hotel near old Ginza Karuizawa. Merely 8 minutes walk to the church shopping street. 3 minutes drive from Karuizawa station. Hotel is clean and toiletries well provided
A 25-minute walk from my accommodation, there's a large drugstore (the Japanese name in the picture is missing, I can't pronounce it). There's a decent public bathhouse where you can soak
That night, I bought Nissin instant noodles from the counter, drank some Calpis, and went to sleep. The staff were quite friendly, and the room had both air conditioning and heating
It's a bit far from the station; I walked here myself. Karuizawa was very quiet and deserted at night

Pros:
- spacious room (a rarity in Japan)
- true ski in and ski out
- breakfast with some variety
- the store on the first floor sells food / snacks / drinks / alcohol of some variety at relatively reasonable prices (will mention this in cons as well)
Cons:
- almost nothing around to eat for dinner except for 1
a store on the first floor that sells bento boxes (if you get there early) or bread or instant noodles and 3
a pizza place not too far in Club Wyndham
- could be a bit cold at night (but you can just pile on duvets)
- relatively small shower room with no shower curtain
others:
- if I think of Shiga Kogen as a strip, Hatsuke (where the hotel is) is pretty much at one end of it
Fantastic hospitality from the staff. They were very helpful in getting us together whenever we needed help. One can ski in and out of the hotel right onto the ski hill
It's not the most central location. For people who would like to cover all the mountains, you can ski from this side all the way to the other end and back
For those who would like to pick specific mountains to ski on, the mountain you like could be quite close or far away from you

They kindly upgraded our room on the day of arrival! The location was super convenient for getting anywhere, and my boyfriend and I really enjoyed the private bath, which had flexible hours
Really beautiful resort, love the free rental Onsen it’s really nice, if you don’t need room cleaning service you can get 2000yen coupon for souvenir shop. It’s close to the outlet only 10mins driving distance
Beautiful hotel with very good breakfast. Location is good but it is not easy for senior because no elevator and also not easy to pull the suitcase from parking to main building.
There is a 7 eleven close to the hotel but need to be aware that the convenience store will be closed at 2300
The private hot spring bath in the hotel is a bit small, but the bathtub in the room is quite large.
There was coffee and tea available at the front desk, which we took with us when checking out

It's about a 10-minute walk from the station, or a 1000 JPY taxi ride. Kumoba Pond is also within walking distance
The room was super spacious, and the breakfast was delicious.
The food was delicious, and everything was explained thoroughly. The room was also very spacious, clean, and comfortable. Thank you very much! It was wonderful, I'd love to stay again.
This time, I accidentally left a sweater behind. When I contacted the hotel to pick it up on my way back from Kusatsu, I saw staff members in the rain wiping guests' suitcases with towels – very impressive! 👍
The staff were polite, and the room was incredibly spacious and comfortable. The two beds pushed together made for a huge sleeping area, perfect for our 3 and 5-year-olds to share. Plus, parking is free!
It is 3 mins by walk away from a big supermarket and McDonald, very convenient if you like to cook and buy something to eat on your own

The bath wasn't a hot spring, but it was spacious and relaxing. Dinner was a half buffet with a main dish. It was luxurious, something we rarely see these days, and the food was delicious
It's located right next to Ichinose Family Ski Resort, so it's easy to walk to the ski resort and ski right to the hotel on your way back
Only complaint was I needed three futon cushions to make a comfortable bed, but no drama as there were several in the closet. And a fridge in the room would have been nice, but realize that is not Japan-style
I took a bus from Nagano Station, and the Ichinose bus stop is also nearby, which is great. The building is old, but the rooms have been renovated and are very new and comfortable. (The TV was large, which is unusual
I found out that by putting water bottles in the space between the double pane windows, they would get extremely cold but not freeze
It has the best selection of restaurants in the area, with four in the hotel. I tried three of them, all excellent meals

Breakfast, Lounge access staff were all excellent! Special thanks to Miyata, the lady in short hair with black jacket and trousers. They were lovely and super helpful and friendly
Had a great time at this resort hotel! Rooms are spacious and beds are comfortable! Had a great experience with all the ground staff
Room is spacious, comfortable beds. Location is a bit out of the popular area. It is fine if you are driving. Breakfast is nice with most things that you need. The onsen bath area also quite big with outside bath
Our room was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast spread was particularly rich and delicious! It was a very satisfying stay, and I would definitely choose this place again next time
Booked through Ctrip, so Marriott Bonvoy members can't earn points. You definitely need a car to get to attractions from the hotel. The room facilities are comprehensive

Even if you also place do not disturb on your door, you will still receive fresh towels/linens outside your door. Overall it was a pleasant stay
Nice place and very convenient. It has everything you need for a pleasant stay in Karuizawa.
For those wondering, the front desk is 24/7, so you can check out as early as 3am. The only sad thing is I couldn’t bring my pet. I hope they can lift that policy in the future
The room is a bit small, and dirts were found on the bedsheets, gave us a bad first impression. However, hot water and microwave are easily accessible, which is a plus for people who feel hungry at late night.
Selected this hotel for 1 night stay. It is a simple hotel but there service was great

The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful (I speak no Japanese except for greetings and “thank you very much”) The meals were fantastic! The spread at breakfast and dinner was really impressive, filled with delicious fish, meats, egg, rice, pickled things, stews/soups and really fresh fruit
We were welcomed with kindness and hospitality. They brought our luggage to the room, provided us with yukatas and offered amazing traditional food. The private baths were the highlight and we will miss them greatly
Highly Recommended for a Traditional Japanese Stay
Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. It was my first experience at a ryokan. Mainly chose this place because it is reasonably priced with private onsen and shower

The closest thing to a criticism I have is that the bath water is quite hot; I recommend a cool bucket shower before getting in, and maybe a couple of cold ones later
The hotel room was much bigger than expected. The service was excellent and the Japanese breakfast was most tasty
Being so close to the Snow Monkey Park also helped a lot - after spending the day in the cold, it was nice to return to the hotel and warm up
The facilities are a bit dated, but considering I've stayed here multiple times across two generations, it maintains a certain standard. Plus, there's a fantastic indoor heated pool. I've stayed here twice already
A beautiful ryokan that offers a respite from the crowds at the monkey pool. The service was flawless, the food was amazing and the onsen a highlight for my partner

When a taxi booking to Shiga Kogen fell through due to heavy snow, the owner personally drove me there, which I deeply appreciated. He also printed out the bus schedule and made sure I knew exactly how to get back
Awesome location for visiting Jigokudani Park (snow monkeys in hot springs) but otherwise isolated. The room was very spacious, especially considering i was a solo traveler
That level of care really stood out. The ryokan is conveniently located near the Snow Monkey Park, making it easy to visit early in the morning before the crowds arrive
I'd been to other food forward ryokans elsewhere before and while they were fancier, the food at Jinpyokaku Honten was better or maybe just more suited to my tastes
Finally, while this is close to shibu onsen, it is not part of it and shibu onsen is about a 30 min walk away and you don't have access to the public baths there (to do the 9 bath crawl)
My husband and I stayed here 4 nights for our honeymoon, and we are so glad we did. The stay includes a private kaiseki dining experience for breakfast and dinner

Spend the w/e’s in Tokyo and on Sunday afternoon or Monday morning take a bullet train to one of the 100 to 200 ski resorts by bullet train 2 hours outside Tokyo and you will have the place to ourselves
For instance: First, There is a ski mat in the beginners area but they never turned it on! After watching my novice partner spend 45 minutes of the first hour trudging up a gently slope with her ski instructor to learn how to do “pizza skis” down I asked why it wasn’t working
Every time we dealt with the Reception Desk they always worked hard to understand our needs, and especially Yoshi – san who with a smile always provided valuable friendly advice as he went above and beyond the call of duty
So we spent 5 days in this hotel & loved it. We enjoyed an empty hotel, zero queues, excellent snow. 90 minutes by bullet train from Tokyo and then 90 minutes by bus. The hotel is truly ski in & sort of ski out
I found the ski rentals good enough for an advanced skier. Pleasingly the hotel provides good ski lockers so of a morning it’s easy to gear up & ski out to get on a lift. I have no complaints about the hotel
Thirdly, exited every ski lift gave you a short down hill run into a basin and then you had to trudge uphill to ski away. Seriously, who designs a ski lift exit to create congestion at the exit

Great hotel, delicious food, professional and very helpful stuff, great facilities (onsen, pool, sauna, cold bath) and TOP location - ski in/out. We stayed here for 5 nights and will definitely return
amazing place to stay for winter, great skiing and snowboarding rental area and great slope, the hotel restaurants are super nice, on the expensive end but worth it! recommend the Japanese restaurant! the hosts are nice and the rooms are very comfortable
the swiss/alpine theme has been applied thoroughly, with high quality and love to detail: many paintings come from davos/klosters and the building itself provides a charming atmosphere and feels like being teleported to an alpine chalet
There is no business or convenience store here. It is recommended to book a plan that includes breakfast and dinner, which is very cost-effective. There are 2 restaurants, one Italian and one Japanese, as well as Chinese
In the middle, I passed the mountain station where there was a cable car for sightseeing. As I walked further, I saw some dilapidated hotels. I was very worried, but when I reached the end, I could see the hotel
It was in good business condition. I booked a top-floor room with an area of 42 square meters. It was sunny and had a mountain view. The room pictures had not been updated, but it had actually been renovated

Good service, excellent restaurant, good facilities.
We and all our accompanies have a very good vacations in there, very nice...
It was low season and hotel was very quiet and had a "cold" atmosphere. I was further disappointed when we were shown our room which was on the lowest floor with a simple garden view
While I was happy to pay the fee, I can't help but compare their practice with all the hotels that I have stayed in all these years, where room changes were complimentary so long as the room type remains the same
