They had yukata and other items provided, which was very comfortable.
They were also very helpful with getting my car in and out, so I had a great time.
Traditional style of Japan Ryokan.
Kind people and hospitality.

There was a dog run and the dogs seemed to have a lot of fun.
It is a pension where you can stay with your dog. The owner couple are very warm, gentle and welcoming.
Although it is small, there is a dog run, and the dogs are satisfied.
The food is completely homemade and very healthy and delicious. It's not fancy, but it's enough to fill you up. It's a great location to escape the heat in the summer and enjoy skiing in the winter.
I stayed with my pet. The food is delicious and the facilities are beautiful. The service is also attentive. Kirara is also healed.
It is a clean and homey good pension. A delicious meal with plenty of vegetables. Toilet and bath are shared but clean. If it is with a dog, Kita Karuizawa best friend may be.
It is a pension that can be spent with Honobono. A small open-air bath is also great. I wished the food was so full of vegetables (laughs).
It was used in 2013 Feb 9-10.
To enjoy snow at Karuizawa Snow Park (Wanwan Paradise, Dog Run), you can arrive in 30 minutes by car.
It is very convenient geographically.
I think it is a convenient place to go to a dog run both winter and summer.

The facilities are a bit old, but I already knew that beforehand, so it wasn’t a concern and was well-maintained. Both breakfast and dinner were provided, and they were absolutely delicious. The private onsen facilities in particular were great because they were never too crowded, so it was easy to relax and enjoy them freely. I also loved that I could use them multiple times during my stay. It was...
First time staying in a ryokan, and the experience is awesome! The hospitality and food provided by the ryokan owner is top notched. Their in house onsen is a must try, theres few option available, but i like dew the most as we can open up the window and enjoy the winter wind, while soaking in a hot water.
I used it for the first time!
The heartfelt hospitality warmed my heart.
Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. Especially the char was delicious and I got it to my head for the first time.
The futon was soft and fluffy and I was able to sleep soundly.
The hot springs were also divided into 4 areas and I was able to enjoy them.
I will be using this again.
I went with a plan with a steak of Jalan with half board per person per night using block discount. By using Jalan's coupon, two people paid 9200 yen and got a 4000 yen Kusatsu street walking coupon, so it was actually 2600 yen per person. The food is very delicious, and if all the baths are free, it can be reserved. The room is on the 2nd floor and there are stairs going up and down, and it is difficult...
It was very affordable and the food was delicious.
The steak and rainbow trout were delicious.
The hot spring bath is also new, and there are 4 sleeping baths in private rooms, so it was very warm.
The room was an old ryokan, but the futon was soft and fluffy and I was able to sleep well.
Very good, I want to visit again!

So impressed with the warm welcome from hotel staffs. Also, the yummy and considerate breakfast for both days. Luv this place. Recommended!
Very cute and traditional place. Couldnt choose non smoking so had to open windows whole night.
Breakfasts were excellent. Every staff were friendly and we really felt like home. Location is nearby the major travel spot but not noisy.
Everything is good, just a very little thing: moved luggages by hand to room at 2nd floor. To me as a hushand and a daddy, it meant luggages of 3 persons I moved.
You can walk to the Yubatake nearby and enjoy Kusatsu to the fullest ^_^
The location is good, near the center of Tangchun. The room was nice with different pillow choices. The heating is sufficient and it is divided into a living room and a Chinese-style bedroom. There are four indoor hot springs, which are divided into dry and wet rooms, and are equipped with a full range of supplies such as combs and toiletries. The downside is that there are only four hot spring pools...
Absolutely loved our story here. If you book here, get the Sora room. It is worth it. It has its own private bath and lots of space. We loved it. And the town surrounding, is so cute and fun to walk around. It is a short walk from the bus when you arrive. The staff was so welcoming and sweet. We highly recommend staying here.

The hotel's location is excellent, just a 5-minute walk from Yubatake and a 5-6 minute drive from Kusatsu Station. The hotel also offers a shuttle service to and from the station. As for facilities, the hotel has a bit of history, so it shows some age, but the overall impression is still good. The rooms are clean and tidy, and the onsen features two indoor baths and an outdoor hot spring, which is...
Great services with transportation pick up from bus terminal, people so nice and do the best to support all the guest.
The hotel is not far from the Kusatsu central area, about an 8-minute walk from the Kusatsu bus stop. I had booked a tatami room, but was given a twin room instead. The room was spacious with windows on two sides. The hotel's large public bath was spacious, although the outdoor pool was a bit small, only accommodating 3-4 people. Dinner was Japanese cuisine, but the variety and portions were limited...
The location is excellent, with parking available. The dinner and breakfast buffet were delicious. The hotel's public hot springs were clean and had many pools to choose from.
The staff were friendly and spoke English.
I initially booked a room that was just right for three people, but it turned out to be incredibly spacious, probably able to accommodate 7-8 people. Although the hotel is old, overall...

Is it the best hotel in this famous hot spring town? Nope, but it is very good value in my opinion. The hotel serves up to seven rooms a night and since there are two free private onsen rooms plus the bigger male and female individual rooms which are hardly used by anyone, you can almost always get your private hot spring which can cost quite a bit if you are to book a room with private bath. The...
Good service, friendly staff, rich breakfast and dinner.
Overall a good experience for what’s available to the area.
Pros: Near the town center, well balanced dinner and breakfast service, private onsens with no reservation required (so tattoo friendly), and feels more like a traditional Japanese ryokan
Cons: might be hard to communicate with staff if you have no Japanese skills, overall experience is not as glamorous as compared to more modern ryokans,...

Nice little japanese style hotel woth great services. The hotspring in house are great for couples and families with privacy. The foods they served are quite good too.
Stayed here overnight as part of our honeymoon. Owner + staff were welcoming and the ryokan overall was lovely. Our room was comfortable, clean and beautifully decorated, and when we came back from dinner, our beds were out ready for the night.

The room was spacious and clean. It was the first time I'd ever stayed in such a large room in Japan! The breakfast and dinner selection was varied and authentically delicious; the indoor and outdoor hot spring environment was absolutely first-class – a true resort paradise.

The hotel is a traditional hot spring resort, not too old. The rooms in the Western-style tower are reasonably sized, but the toilets are rather small and the toilet seat is quite close to the wall, which is a bit cramped. We stayed here in May 2025. IT is an old hotel but has it charm. The room is comfortable and clean. The Onsen part is ok. it is full of old Japanese people. For some might not like this but I have no problem with it. My point is this an old hotel and everything about it kind of charming for me.
Breakfast is decent, there were both western and Japanese food. It is not far from the park that also has...
Location was great stone throw to the skifield. I looked out directly to the ski slopes, absolutely stunning. The complimentary breakfast used a ticketing system, that you have to get the ticket in the evening each day. Being able to experience local breakfast in a buffet style was excellent. Some people may have certain dietary requirements, so this style was great. Selection was marvelous.

I didn't expect great service from the hotel. It's really old. The cleaning in the room is bad, there was hair from the previous tenant on the wall and sink in the bathroom, and the food area is also dirty in places. I hope at least the bed linen was changed. However, the room is big. The breakfast is Japanese (so I can't rate it properly). The same employee cleans the room and takes the pass to the...
The room facilities are old and simple, there is no hand soap, no shower shampoo, the bathtub is useless, there is only a very small piece of soap. Nice view. Very clean room. You will heard the broadcast at 09:15 that reminds you the check out time is 09:30. Although the location is far away from the central location, it’s good value for money.
Regarding the location of the hotel, there was a car shuttle from the Yubatake to the hotel, but this information was not received at the time of booking, and we walked there, which was a bit disappointing. It was a great value for money and the dinner and breakfast were so good
There was also an open-air bath
If you want a value for money ryokan feel, I definitely recommend it
We enjoyed our stay a lot! Both breakfast and dinner were in kaiseke style.

At first I really couldn't find the main door. I thought I had to take the stairs to carry my luggage up, but I ended up taking the elevator from the hot spring area to the second floor and walking through the overpass to the main building to check in!
The environment is very beautiful and the soup is also good!
The place overall it's quite good, especially with the food and shinkansen package. My biggest complaint are the beds which are terrible, uncomfortable, and really messed up my back. Everything else could be awesome but at the end of the day it's a hotel and if the beds are terrible it loses out on a couple stars.
Great Hotel with lots of amenities for kids and adults. There are 3 different restaurants that you can choose , Japanese style , Foreign style and an open buffet. Nearbybthere is a very big Kids entertainment park with animals and toys.
Restaurants starts from 8 pm and you can enjoy the hot springs( inside the hotel).
before the Restaurant.
Dinner buffet is lots of delicious cooks
Including japan local ,Chinese dumpling, desserts, ice cream
And then you can enjoy hotspring to relax the tour tiredness and also go to the forest to absorb the energetic air .

It's alright. There was no extra charge for bringing children. The only downside is that there's pick-up and drop-off at the old Karuzu Station, which only runs twice a day, and only once a day in the morning. Driving is the best option. Great service staff and hotel that gave an old school charm. Breakfast was a continental style set which was great.
The room was dated but comfortable
The room was quite spacious, even by Japanese standards for hotels. The environment was lovely, and it happened to snow during my stay, making the garden views absolutely beautiful!
Nice and quiet area of town. Would be better if there's indoor passage to different building.
This French-style house has a lot of history and is nestled in a quiet, forested area with great air quality. It's very close to Old Karuizawa and convenient for visiting Shiraito Falls and Kumoba Pond. The service is very polite, and the interesting old-fashioned key adds to its nostalgic charm. However, there was a lot of noise from the room above, so I think the soundproofing was poor.

Conveniently located, only 10 minutes to the outlet! The environment and facilities are very beautiful! Spacious venue with great views! However, the service still has room for improvement, such as the lack of a send-off service and the lack of towels provided in the spa area.
The hotel facilities are very complete, there is a microwave in the room, the children especially like the tatami and outdoor balcony, where you can see the scenery
The hotel also has free hot spring bathing, which is very good
There are also many varieties of buffet breakfast in the morning, which is very satisfactory. It is recommended to book a hotel with breakfast.

Pros:
- spacious room (a rarity in Japan)
- true ski in and ski out
- breakfast with some variety
- the store on the first floor sells food / snacks / drinks / alcohol of some variety at relatively reasonable prices (will mention this in cons as well)
Cons:
- almost nothing around to eat for dinner except for 1. dinner at the hotel or 2. a store on the first floor that sells bento boxes (if you get...
Fantastic hospitality from the staff. They were very helpful in getting us together whenever we needed help. One can ski in and out of the hotel right onto the ski hill. It is a short walk to the main bus depot, where the rentals are. The public bath (onsen) was wonderful post ski. The food was wonderful. And, there is free laundry.
The room had a nice view, and the breakfast was Japanese. It was about a 5-8 minute walk to the bus stop, with some ups and downs, so it was quite easy to walk without ski equipment.
Right next to the ski resort, but it's a bit difficult for beginners to enter the ski resort. The hotel is a bit old, breakfast and dinner are OK, but the hot spring is a bit average. Overall, it's ok to stay.
A good choice for ski accommodation, close to two bus lines to Yudanaka and Nagano. Ski directly to the ski resort in the morning. Walk back from the Shiga Kogen station in the afternoon in 5 minutes.
Japanese-style rooms have tatami mats on the floor, which is a bit difficult to get used to. Fortunately, the hotel upgraded me to a twin room. This hotel is a few hundred meters away from the cable car. If you can slide, you can slide directly from the small path next to the hotel to the cable car.

The hotel is conveniently located near the JR station. It's not large, but it's well-equipped, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Even without speaking Japanese or English, communication wasn't an issue. The cleanliness is also very good. It's a great base for getting around, with attractions within walking distance. Plus, the nearby supermarket has discounts on sashimi and set meals after...
The service was polite, and the environment was clean.
The hotel is super close to the JR station, making it really convenient for getting around. The front desk staff also spoke English, so check-in was smooth. However, I was on the second floor, and the window was sealed shut, so I couldn't see anything outside at all.
Great hotel with breakfast and a convenient shuttle bus to the premium outlet / railway statio
Pretty good, very clean, and a newly opened hotel. The service was very warm and welcoming. We received a welcome snack of cookies upon check-in. There's a cozy fireplace in the lobby, perfect for warming up. The curry at breakfast was delicious!
This is a wonderfully cozy hotel with an overall atmosphere that makes you feel relaxed and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and attentive, leaving an excellent first impression.
The hotel has its own station and offers a shuttle service to the ski resort, making transportation very convenient. Even if you miss the shuttle, it's only about a 10-minute walk from the station to the hotel, which...

Beautiful hotel with very good breakfast. Location is good but it is not easy for senior because no elevator and also not easy to pull the suitcase from parking to main building.
Nice room but check in/checkout procedures were a little rigid
Good place to stay for vacation
Good environment, is very chill here but location is abit far so we need to go by taxi. This area is abit hard to find food with walking area.
They kindly upgraded our room on the day of arrival! The location was super convenient for getting anywhere, and my boyfriend and I really enjoyed the private bath, which had flexible hours.
There was coffee and tea available at the front desk, which we took with us when checking out. It's a really great hotel!
Be careful that the actual room is not the same as trip shown. Everything is good but the room wasn’t my expected. Finally trip.com refunded me a certain amount, fair enough.
Look at my photos, if you accept such a room paying this price, go for head, with free-spa, no complain. Just because it wasn’t what I wanted😂😂

Ski in and out. Great place to stay. Good breakfast and dinners. Their Cafe is open for morning tea and lunch - famous apple pie. Rooms are a good aize and clean. Great in house onsen. Staff are very accommodating and friendly. You can hire ski gear and buy lift tickets here. Full service. Easy to get to - bus from Nagano Station 3,000yen, catch the gondola down (free with accommodation), accommodation...
The restraunt had some nice food and the fire place was very nice when there was a snow storm. The rooms were nice with thick blankets and before bed I watched some of the sumo wrestling. It is nice to have the snaw and ski runs next door. The snow was perfect.
Real ski in / ski out accommodation. Great staff and good food for a very reasonable price. Relaxing onsen inside the hotel. Children are welcome and they are treated really well. Thank you to all the staff for their kindness, we had a great stay.
Just on the skifield, one minute away from three lifts. Good onzen
Wonderful stay. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice hot spring in the house. Lovely food and desert. Good rental snowboard gears. Great location for snowboarding/skiing because there are 3 lifts in walking distance that you can easily ski-in/out, however, it is not that convenient to go out to other towns.
[Very Good]: The owners are really helpful and go out of their way to make sure you're satisfied with your stay. Excellent location as it's well situated to easily explore all the slopes of Shiga Kogen! Although to fully explore you'll need to take a free shuttle bus. The buffet breakfast is really nice!
[To Improve]: Although the evening buffet meal is really nice the food is very similar every night...

The property is very chic, classic and elegant. Simple lobby and warm welcome from the front line staff truly represents Karuizawa vibe. Twin room is super spacious and garden in the middle of the building is very calming to enjoy. Lounge area is very neat, clean and offers generous refreshment from coffee, tea and cookies. Location is superb with only 5 minutes walk from Shinkansen station. We rented...
This hotel was FANTASTIC. The delivered breakfast, the amenities, the staff -- all 100%.
Plus, it's 10 min walk from the train station. Super safe and right next to Lawson's.
I almost do not want to reveal this fantastic place, but I could not! Thank you.
This hotel has good location near the train station and outlet . The room size is ok , quiet , and has a big library area for reading and relaxing but all the books are in Japanese so not really catering for foreigners . The atmosphere of the hotel is cold and dull , I wouldn’t want to stay there again.
We stayed at Hotel Grand Vert Kyukaruizawa during our winter trip and had such a wonderful experience. When we arrived, the temperature had dipped to just 1°C, and we were so thankful for the warm welcome that awaited us. The check-in process was smooth, and the staff were polite, helpful, and very accommodating — a great first impression after a long drive from Tokyo.
Our family room was spacious...
The staff were extremely helpful. Hotel location was also convenient (next to Karuizawa Station). Couldnt ask for more.
I stayed in the grand room (4 bedroom suite) with my family and we had a pleasant stay. I can see that the suite was a bit old but was well maintained. Staff was very professional and thoughtful too.
My son left his favourite teddy in the room and we realized it when we were on the bullet train back home but the hotel staff found it and sent it back to us asap.

Good location and near to the Prince Shopping centre and the ski centre. Clean and tidy place.
Room are only come with twin bed instead of king or queen bed and hotel under renovation ezternal part so no view all
Stay location is bit far from station which about 10mins walk better to call a teksi about 800-1000yen for a trip.
Overall suitable for family stay instead of solo trip..
The staff were polite, and the room was incredibly spacious and comfortable. The two beds pushed together made for a huge sleeping area, perfect for our 3 and 5-year-olds to share. Plus, parking is free!
Pros -
1. Hotel apartment is 15 mins by walk from karuizawa station, still walkable. Hotel does not provide any shuttle bus
2. Room is spacious and it is equipped with microwave, stove & fridge. It does not come with any kitchen ware though and need to request the items you need clearly. It is hard to communicate as the staffs do not speak English well
3. It is 3 mins by walk away from a big supermarket...
The room was super spacious, and the breakfast was delicious.

Hotel is conveniently located near Karuizawa station, breakfast and service provided by hotel staff are good. Cleanliness of the room can be improved. The bed is not as comfy, it feels like there are no mattress springs and you can feel yourself sinking in, it can be better. Overall, with this reasonable price point, this hotel is ok.
The location is very convenient. The room was small but acceptable, and the in-room amenities were good. However, the breakfast selection was very limited and did not meet expectations. This is an area that could definitely be improved.
Free coffee is a nice touch, and it's Mikado Coffee too! The hotel is conveniently located near the station and the outlet mall, which was a huge plus.
Enjoyed the breakfast spread, very authentic and homely, will recommend this place as it’s near ski slopes
As others have commented, the breakfast is delicious. I especially recommend the Apa curry.

The 2 staff who received us really took care of us. We asked to be moved to a room with a better view and they did. The breakfast was really good, it was the best breakfast that we had in Japan.

Just wanna share my experience of staying in this beautiful hotel.
1- The location and the views from the hotel are just amazing! Especially during sunsets!
2- The personal and stuff of the hotel are super super friendly, if I could I would give 10 stars for the hospitality.
3- Onsens and the view are something out from this world

Very nice hotel with super convenient location. Also very to pleased with onsens and sauna!
very efficient and well organised hotel around the ski-onsen experience. Large rooms.
This is an older, but well renovated hotel near the slopes. It’s an all-in-one hotel too, with a convenience / souvenir store and a massive onsen (with sauna). We enjoyed our stay here; the meals were also pretty good. The old-fashioned steam radiator helped to keep the moisture in the room too, which we appreciated. Thank you for taking care of us!
Please renovate
Renovation urgently needed...

For my husband and I, who have stopped skiing due to old age, there are more visitors in the summer for the purpose of escaping the heat than in the winter season, or trekking guests, but if things go well, we can have the bath all to ourselves. The food is heartfelt and delicious, and it is a very satisfying inn. The spring specialty "Nemagaritake" is also delicious. It's not for those who want the...

Yamanouchi, Shiga Kogen Ichinose 🧭 Map
It's located right next to Ichinose Family Ski Resort, so it's easy to walk to the ski resort and ski right to the hotel on your way back. I took a bus from Nagano Station, and the Ichinose bus stop is also nearby, which is great. The building is old, but the rooms have been renovated and are very new and comfortable. (The TV was large, which is unusual.) The food was a buffet, so it was neither good...
Very basic, but has everything covered. Large onsen bath on-site. Dry rooms for equipment. Only about 60 meters from closest run, and nearly ski in/ski out. The ladies at the front desk were extremely attentive, spoke decent English, and cheerful. It has the best selection of restaurants in the area, with four in the hotel. I tried three of them, all excellent meals. Only complaint was I needed three...
Came over for some shabu shabu. Dinner was great, but a bit pricey. Nothing to shout about, but decent and a good change from the dinner at our hotel. Service was great at the restaurant, book on advance as they are full often.
Friendly helpful staff, close to ski chair lifts, clean
A very old hotel that seriously needs some refurbishment. It provides a very basic need to people who wanted to skii. Most staff don’t speak English.
We stayed at the resort with a plan that included a lift ticket. When we arrived, we unloaded all our luggage from the trunk into the luggage storage area, and a staff member drove us to the parking lot, where they picked us up after we parked. The slopes are practically right in front of us. We received our lift ticket at the front desk in the morning, so there was no hassle. The room was a Western...
