The hotel is located a short distance from Kinosaki Main Street; however, a complimentary shuttle bus provides convenient transport to the local hot springs (a coupon would be offered to try the local hot springs in free of charge). The Main Street is approximately a 10-minute walk away. The property features excellent public onsen facilities and is new and well maintained. Service is exemplary, and the staff members provide clear explanations of all available amenities. Kimonos are provided for guests to wear. The shuttle bus driver is notably helpful. We selected Kobe Beef for dinner, the quality of the beef was outstanding, though the portion size was modest, despite which we found the meal satisfying. The breakfast was also excellent. The only drawback was that the hotel requested we check out before 10:30, whereas I recall the reservation stating an 11:00 checkout time.

Shinzan is wonderful traditional Japanese Ryokan in Kinnosaki Onsen. I stayed two times there and I would always come back.
I had wonderful stay and unforgettable memories. The level of this Ryokan is outstanding, despite its lil bit outside the main area.
Shinzan offers in house Onsen, which are really comfortable. The rooms are big and bed comfortable.
If you book with breakfast and diner, you will enjoy in restaurant. The whole team and staff are very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this place!

The hotel is far from the center of the city. You have to take the hotel bus to city.. The check out time is too early. Breakfast and dinner are too ordinary.

We had a fantastic stay at Shinzan. The hotel is absolutely beautiful. The onsen is stunning. The staff were extremely kind and helpful right from check in. I will also add that there was a huge snowstorm on our final day. Our train was cancelled and the staff arranged for a bus to take us to a town not affected by the storm. They truly went above and beyond. Highly recommend!

I stayed in the kinosaki onsen town for total of 4 days, and only spent 1 night here. I paid $515 USD for two people, so it was rather expensive and although it’s a great one time experience, I don’t think it was so spectacular that I’d pay that price again to repeat.

If you’re looking for an onsen town experience, I think you can stay at a cheap guest house and rent yukata from one of the shops and get a similar experience by going to the public onsens. The Shinzan onsens were for sure emptier and maybe even better maintained, and having an onsen within the same building of your accommodation felt very luxurious. However, I felt that the meals provided were only pleasant in presentation but lacked flavor.

Overall it was a good experience, but I didn’t think the experience lived up to the price.

We checked in 15 Oct 2025 .The room was fairly spacious and clean, but the bathroom was covered in mold. The soundproofing was terrible; I thought the next door was an izakaya (Japanese pub). I couldn't rest or sleep all night. Dinner was convenient, with fresh ingredients and beautiful presentation, but unfortunately, the staff lacked table manners. They were very talkative and disturbed my meal several times. To make matters worse, She spilled my drink and made a mess on the table. After finishing my appetizer, I waited for over 15 minutes, but no waiter had prepared my main course. When I asked the waiter what I was waiting for and how long, he finally realized he hadn't prepared any main course, shabu-shabu, Wagyu beef, or cook rice. I had to keep waiting… I understand that many Japanese hotels now hire a lot of foreign workers, such as Vietnamese and Filipinos, to reduce costs, but as guests, we didn't receive the service expected of a traditional Japanese onsen hotel. Furthermore, please provide non-Japanese guests with guidelines for using the onsen. Someone was using a mobile phone in the men's bath area that evening, and my husband immediately complained to the staff.

Amazing place! Great food and big breakfast!

Be sure to check out the outdoor onsen that is upstairs and outside! It's extremely beautiful and peaceful. We almost missed it because it was through a very unassuming looking door. They change the onsens every day at midday so you'll be able to check out both Onsen (only one has that outdoor upstairs onsen thats beautiful but both have an outside onsen portion)

Very friendly and accommodating staff. They provide umbrellas and geta/boots/shoes for outdoors when you venture out to see the other onsens. The manager even greeted us at dinner and that really added a special touch in staying here! Highly recommend this place!

The only reason why I put 4 is that the location is a bit far from main city and all the onsens and there isn't much of a view around (at least not from our room!)

Very good place to stay, the hotel is brand new and looks like a traditional ryokan in modern style. The staff are very supportive and polite. The hotel has its own onsens which we liked the most in Kinosaki (we had pass for public onsens included in price)! Kaiseki there was a special experience! Location is a little far from the station (about 15-20 minutes walk) but the transfer solves this problem if you have heavy luggage :) This hotel is highly recommended for sure!

Every day, there is a shuttle bus waiting for passengers getting off the express trains. The hotel is far from the station and is located deep in the town, but it is also very quiet. With the shuttle bus, you can go in and out for shopping at any time, which is very convenient. The hotel feels newly renovated and has an outdoor hot spring upstairs. The two meals may be average. Due to the agency of Ctrip, the specific meals are not clearly marked. We ordered a vegetarian dinner, which was not very enjoyable!
