The room is spacious and can accommodate three people. The facilities are new. There's a free shuttle bus service from the JR station. For the two nights, dinner was kaiseki cuisine, featuring snow crab on one night and fish on the other. The hot spring town also offers plenty of dining options.

The hotel is clean, and the staff are friendly, with most speaking English. Dinner is served seasonally and is of above-average quality, while breakfast is a buffet with limited variety. The hotel has one outdoor and one indoor hot spring, but the hot spring area is rather small.

Due to heavy snowfall, both trains and buses were canceled, which put me in a difficult situation. As expected of a Relais & Châteaux hotel and a century-old Japanese establishment, the facilities, dining, rooms, and service were all top-notch in Kinosaki Onsen. I particularly loved the hotel's Japanese garden and large public bath, as well as the excellent service and dining. It was a pity that I missed the snow crab season; only the rooms were a bit dated.

At least one person on staff (at all times) spoke excellent English. If you can't speak a lick of Japanese, like us, you're still going to be fine here. It's a 10 minute walk from the train station, which is not too bad. To get to the furthest public hot spring it's more like a 25 minute walk, but they have a shuttle to take you out there. A great ryokan. Huge rooms, excellent service. They will meet you, arrange dinner, give you haori and geto. I stay here twice a year, and I get bitten by mites almost every time. The food, location, and service are all good, but it bothers me.
