This is the most up-to-date review, and once you stay here, you’ll never want to leave.

January 2026

I stayed here for four days on a snowboarding trip because we couldn’t find a hotel around Nozawa Onsen.

Host: Extremely friendly and absolutely lovely. Staying here felt like living at my grandma’s house — warm, cozy, and welcoming.

Food: You cannot miss the breakfast and dinner!!! The traditional Japanese meals were incredibly delicious. Having a warm soup after a long day of snowboarding was perfect. I couldn’t ask for more!

Bathroom: The bathroom and toilet are shared, but when I stayed there, there weren’t many guests, so it felt very private, especially when using the hot tub.

For anyone looking for a place to stay, this is the perfect lodge. They truly deserve a 4.5+ rating! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We stayed here for 4 nights and skiied at Togari and Nozawa while staying here. The breakfast and dinner meals were delicious and varied each day. They provided gluten free bread at breakfast on request. The onsen was nice and hot - great for after being on the slopes.

I forgot to add breakfast, so I stayed overnight without meals, but there was a convenience store nearby that sold bread, instant ramen, and alcohol, and you could eat in the common room, so it would be nice to stay with a group 😆🎵🎵 It's a shame that the toilets are shared, but I'm happy with mountain huts, so being able to go to the hot springs for this price was great (lol)

We stayed here for several weeks. The rooms were basic tatami floors with small table and cushions. Warm with good heating. There was a sink in room and shared toilet close by. Fold out foam mattresses were comfortable. This is not an expensive hotel but it was better than we had expected. Breakfast and dinner were very good value with lots of variety. Shared bathroom was clean with lovely hot water. Great after a days skiing. The dry room had plenty of space and was easily accessible to outside. Free use of washing machine was a bonus. Town’s only convenience store was right next door. It was a bit noisy from all the snow ploughing on the roads in the morning - can’t be helped in ski season - bring ear plugs. Close to bus station and very close to ski ground - less than 200 metres to ticket office. Host Miki was very friendly and helpful. Would thoroughly recommend if you are happy with a budget hotel.

Me and 4 of my friends stayed in two rooms here for 11 nights. It could hardly have been closer to the ski slope - the best location possible.
The host, Mickey, is an absolute legend. The breakfasts and dinners were the best we’ve had in Japan so far. Authentic food with tonnes of variety.
The rooms were exactly what we were expecting, tatami mats with fold out futons that were surprisingly comfortable. The heaters worked perfectly. We all slept well and had a great time.
This is one the best value accomodations I have stayed in and I am shocked to now read the other reviews, they seem impossibly inaccurate.

Stayed for 11 nights, food was awesome. Has all the ammenities for snow sports and being a 3 minute walk from the slopes / bus to nozawa. The owner was really nice and has a secret private well priced bar through the dry room. Probably the most authentic food we would eat in my month of travel being in Japan. Well priced for what you get in common area services compared to other accommodation. Would definitely recommend if you have a low budget.

Liked the traditional Japanese hotel style, as well as the onset which was very hot and was much needed after a day of skiing. Staff was very accommodating and helpful when needed

Location is beautiful but inconvenient as there are no restaurants close by or convenient stores.

There were many different types of smells, all unpleasant, as you walk into reception, the bathroom, the hallway and your room. The pillows were made of wheat and were incredibly small and uncomfortable. The futon beds made you itchy and were quite thin.

There are very limited amenities inside the room, only a small sink, a small TV and gas heater. The heating in the room is very good. You need to use the public toilets and the shared, open bathroom. The vending machines inside the accomodation were not turned on.

This place is suitable if you wanted to go snowboarding, as the Togari- onsen snow resort is only a 5 minute walk away and didn’t mind where you lay your head. The staff are also very friendly.

The only thing to be picky about is that there is no toilet in the room, but everything else is basically OK.

The breakfast was standard, but the burdock root and miso soup were delicious.
I wish the futon was a little thicker.
I wish it was a little thinner.
