Reviews
Conveniently located just a short walk from the Kitanomine gondola and bus stops, Pension Young House Hotel offers a practical accommodation option for travelers exploring Furano. During my recent stay, I found the hotel to be clean and well-suited for budget-conscious travelers, although it's worth noting a few considerations.
The hotel features communal bathrooms and toilets, which were adequately maintained and kept clean throughout my visit. While towels and a hairdryer were not provided, guests have access to a coin-operated laundry facility, albeit requiring a significant number of 100 yen coins for drying.
In terms of amenities, our room was basic but comfortable, equipped with a TV, couch, and small table. Although we didn't use the TV during our stay, it was a nice addition for downtime. The owner was friendly and accommodating, even allowing us to use the shower before our departure, though the shower facilities are only available between 3 pm and 11 pm.
One aspect to note is that the hotel does not offer breakfast. However, there are numerous dining options in the surrounding area, providing plenty of choices for guests to explore local cuisine.
Overall, Pension Young House Hotel provides a practical option for travelers seeking a clean and convenient place to stay in Furano. While it may lack certain luxuries and breakfast options, its proximity to transportation hubs and nearby dining establishments make it a solid choice for budget-conscious travelers. Just be prepared with plenty of 100 yen coins for the laundry and keep in mind the limited shower hours.
It's right next to kitanomine gondola and has a dry place to store gear. Because it has some history, the noise insulation isn't great (can hear the kitchen noises or people talking along the hallways).
Right at the foot of the kitanomine ski fields. There is a ski hire place right down the road about a 3 minute walk called goodsports.
The place has its pros and cons.
There is a share fridge which allows you to go into town and buy food from the 2 supermarkets about a 20-25min walk. There is also a 711 down the road about a 10 min walk.
Microwave next to the fridge. And a sink to do washing up and a range of cutlery and plates for meals. microwave is the only heating option.
The japanese style bathroom left something to be desired with shared bathing. But when in rome. We planned bathing otherwise fairly early or late and didnt end up having to bath with others and could just have a quick shower.
There is a bus stop just outside the pension in front of the kitanomine fields. This has a route to and from the furano JR train station. There are limited services. About 1 hour between buses.
Overall its a decent pension and we didnt have any issues.
Reasonably clean rooms. We got the Japanese room which allowed for more space when the beds were rolled up.
Shared toilets and bathrooms. The bathroom is the standard Japanese public bath set up so there are NO individual shower cubicles. Only male and female baths. There is one hot pool in the bath and 4 showers. I didn’t have a problem with the bath area. It was more than adequate for the number of rooms in the building. The pool was great after a day on the slopes.
My main bugbear was the very slow wifi speeds. There is no WiFi password so everyone in the area can just join. It is pretty much unusable in the evenings. If you didn’t pick up a sim or a wifi dongle at the airport it’s a real struggle.
Walls are pretty thin so if you are a light sleeper you may want to have some earplugs handy.
