Excellent view of the ocean from the room and dining hall. Food was delicious and was satisfied with service.

The room was spotless and well-equipped, making for a very comfortable stay. The staff were also very welcoming and friendly. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would definitely choose to stay here again.

The hotel has a not to be missed ocean view, but the food variety turns out to be the disappointment. Not so much of choice when comparing it with other ryukan. Another places for your attention is that the toilet and the room has a very strong and unpleasant urine smell. Though I cannot find any uncleaned spots in the toilet, the odor is simply untolerable.

The onsen at the balcony has human hair from probably the previous customer and the hotel should do better in cleaning it.

This was the best hotel experience during my Hokkaido trip. I stayed for two nights and it was definitely worth it. The hotel is right by the sea, with ocean views from the room. The private hot spring bath was fantastic, and the breakfast and dinner were much better than at Noboribetsu Ryotei.

The hotel's location is super convenient. After getting off at Hakodate Station, you can take buses 95, 95A, or 96 right outside the station (get off at Yunokawa Onsen Station), and the hotel is directly across the street. Conversely, you can catch a bus from the hotel entrance directly to JR Hakodate Station. This is incredibly handy, especially given how expensive taxis are in Japan.

The hotel rooms are very spacious. While the facilities are a bit dated, the big plus is that the room comes with a private, continuously flowing hot spring bath – it's not one of those you have to turn on and off with a tap. It's semi-open-air, looking out onto the ocean, so there's no need to worry about privacy. Soaking in the onsen while enjoying the sea view, perhaps with an ice cream [chuckle] – it really doesn't get much more relaxing!

Since we booked a Japanese-style room, staff came to make our beds after check-in. The mini-fridge was stocked with complimentary bottled water, bottled tea, and beer. Unfortunately, my family and I don't drink, so we didn't make use of that service [facepalm].

Right next to the hotel is the 'Ichimonji' ramen shop, and the Tropical Botanical Garden, where you can watch monkeys soaking in the hot springs, is just a 300-500 meter walk away. Guests staying at Hanatsuki can also request a window seat at breakfast to enjoy the sea view while they eat.

At one glance, the room looks clean. But when open the cabinet and so on, it was very dusty. The room is big though with splitting into sleeping area, living area and bath area. The onsen in the room serve well that you can go in anytime you like. There is a Ramen shop nearby the hotel which within 5 mins walking distance and there is Lawson opposite the Ramen shop. Location is good and there is free parking just right outside the hotel. Breakfast is good varieties as well.

I stayed in the Kagetsu Annex. In the Japanese-Western room with an open-air bath, I was completely immersed in the bathtub, soothed by the sound of the waves. The room was clean, and the sea view was excellent. The customer service was very friendly, and the service was excellent. I was pleased with everything, but the kaiseki dinner was especially good. I wanted to enjoy the seasonal dishes and visit them at other times of the year. The buffet looked good, but I would recommend the kaiseki cuisine.
