This is the best backpacker hostel I have ever been so far. Simply put, it feels like behind at home rather than in a hostel. I just loved that place! I wish I could have stayed longer. The hosts are so friendly and they have the cutest pets.
Make sure to order the breakfast which is completely homemade (even the tofu and sausages were!)

Had a great time there! Was originally going to stay for just one night, ended up staying there for the better part of that week as it was so relaxing and welcoming. Very foreigner-friendly!

Its the whole atmosphere for me. I rarely write reviews but this homestay is something i cant forget. The house is cozy, like out of japanese animated cartoons, warm and chill with lots of things to look at. They have a corgi and a cat. The owner cames around in the morning and cooked breakfast, they also made the best egg pudding ive ever had. It was raining and snowing during check out, the owner gave us an umbrella which was so thoughtful. Overall its not a hotel, but you'll feel like living in someone's house, everyone is warm and welcoming

I stayed in Morinoki guest house for a few days in February 2024 and it was the coziest hostel I’ve ever been to. The atmosphere is very family-like. I absolutely adored Mayumi-san who prepared delicious breakfasts every morning! She and the owner were so nice and spoke English well.
The hostel is located on the hill, which makes the way there (in snow) not so accessible but I grow to love the snowy way to the hostel as it’s walk through calm residential area.
When I come back to Hokkaido, I’ll definitely visit again!

Extremely homey. Wonderful kind staff and beautiful spaces. Genuinely my favorite hostel I’ve ever stayed in. Leaving made me so sad, I wish I can come back.

It is more like a hosted guesthouse. Traditional type of Japanese bathroom and restroom. Traditional type of Japanese homemade breakfast, which all of them are worth to experience. The host and the staff is very friendly and let me feeling welcomed. The corgi is absolutely the selling point if this hostel! A lovely stay here!

I can say that's the best hostel I have stayed in and I've been to many. Quiet, homey, feels so good and comfy, I could easily live there. Thank you so much for putting up with me :) the collection of books makes me want to go back just so I can read them.

Very nice people these ones. The breakfast is one of the best meal I had in town. The place was very clean and with interesting traditional Japanese features.

One of the best hostels I've stayed at in Japan. Friendly staff, dog, cat, fish and a very homey environment. Highly recommended for anyone in Otaru.
