The old man - clerk - is just what other opinions say. He's arrogant and unpleasant, nearly hostile. It's not comfortable to be around him. He makes problems. He tried to do anything to ignore our reservation from booking. Definitely most unpleasant part of the trip.

Location is on the outskirts, 40 minutes walking - too much.

Price was alright, but the experience with the clerk is not worth it. I ignored negative reviews and tried for myself. That was a mistake.

It's decent for the money, i guess, since everything in Shirahama is pretty damn expensive, but overall a mixed experience.
My guess is that hotel is run by an elder couple. They're trying their best, but there's only so much they can do. Building is old and shows a lot of signs of wear, although, the bedding and toiletries are fine. The room was cleaned daily.
Photos are a bit deceiving because they don't show an elephant in the room - big metal door that isn't much soundproof.
Hotel is located at the edge of the city, but it's only a 15-20 minutes walk to the beach or 3-5 minute ride on a bus. But the famous Sandanbeki cave is near and there are many paths to the beautiful cliffs.
Also, you can smoke everywhere in hotel, so no non-smoking rooms.

This hotel is the worst experience I have had in all these years. To be honest, this is a Japanese hotel. The environment is clean, and the facilities are not new, but they are OK. But the front desk of the hotel is a Japanese man who is about 60-70 years old. I only stayed for one day. The check-out time of the hotel is written as 7-11. I suddenly had a multinational meeting at 10:40, and I was afraid that I couldn't finish it, so I asked my girlfriend (she can speak Japanese) to go downstairs to communicate with the front desk to see if I could delay the check-out for about ten minutes. Later I learned that the hotel front desk said no in a very bad attitude after knowing it. I then packed up and went downstairs to communicate with the front desk. When I communicated with him, it was 10:48. I also checked the time with him and asked if we could finish the meeting in the reception area next to the hotel lobby. The other party said no, I said it would only take a few minutes, and he wanted to kick us out directly. I have never seen such a rubbish service, never. I used English throughout the whole process, but I tried to speak as simply as possible. I said 10 minutes, and he understood. He also kicked us out. Later, when we were about to leave, he rushed us out and said 5 minutes. I didn't want to stay here at all. His attitude was very, very bad. When I travel, I will help to clean up the hotel and never leave the hotel in a mess to the customer service staff. But such hotel service, I can only describe as rubbish. I later contacted Ctrip, and after they contacted the hotel, the hotel replied that they were afraid that we would lose valuables, so they didn't let us use the reception area. I really wanted to curse, although after Ctrip's coordination, the room fee for this day was waived. But it was too disgusting, this hotel. My impression of Japan has been greatly reduced.

Weird old man as the only front clerk. I should have read the other reviews here before booking. You can get discounts from other, better hotels if you check online, and I paid about the same amount for this poorer quality one. Also, beware English speakers— the old man cannot speak English or communicate well with hand signs either. There are no other staff.

The service staff's attitude is bad and the old room is nothing special, there is no hair dryer in the room either. I booked a room with a sea view, but I could actually only see a little from afar, the rest was covered by trees on the roadside, not like the hotel's photo posted.

It is cheap but the service is not good. There is no hand soap, the building is old and dirty😖. The old man was calling us couple of times if we're coming or not which is bothersome. He is not so kind to foreigners like us. I'm not coming back here and definitely would not recommend it to my friends.

The rate price was cheap, however the bathroom was dirty, the air conditioner was full of dust and toilet seat was broken. I think the only thing that I liked of this hotel were the furnitures. The Sea View is good but I expected more.
The neighborhood is good. There is one Coffee Shop called Tsumugi Cafe close to this hotel, that was wonderful. They serve Turkish dishes and also they have Turkish gift shop inside the coffee shop. The food is delicious, the staff is very kind and the gifts are amazing.

It's not bad for the price you pay in Shirahama. anywhere else, if you can find it, will cost you double to triple more and the room was decent. It's nothing fancy but luckily it is located right across for the Sandanbeki caves. The front desk guy is really friendly and helpful. It's only a few minutes drive to Shirahama Beach or you could actually walk there if you aren't lugging a lot around.
