Kamata in Yugawara

Rooms were classic n original tatami. Service ws attentive n d food ws excellent. Location in d middle of nowhere in a mountain but we love it.

It's an old building, with creaking floors and a distinctive rural smell. The building was dimly lit, and the path to the private bath was a little scary. There were bugs in the indoor hot spring bath as well.
But other than that, it was absolutely wonderful!
The food was absolutely delicious. All of the dishes were elaborately prepared and looked great, the hot food was hot, the cold food was cold, and everything was delicious.
The room was isolated like a detached building, so we weren't bothered by the sounds around us and were able to relax and enjoy the hot springs.
If we have the opportunity, we'd definitely like to stay again.

This 90-year-old hotel exudes a vintage charm, with impeccable service and attention to detail! I love the atmosphere here, the bliss of being able to soak in the hot springs anytime, the fresh ingredients and delicious cooking, and the exquisite plating! A top choice for wellness.

The water was nice. The food is also carefully prepared. It's good to have breakfast and dinner in your room. It's nice to take a bus from Yugawara Station and walk for 2 minutes from the last stop, which gives you a nice change of pace. The room was quaint and I didn't mind how old it was. It was quiet, and I was truly healed by the sound of the babbling stream and the voices of the warblers. The lotion in the bath was Sekkisei, and I felt a little strange for the class of the hotel, but I was healed in nature, with healthy food, nice hot water, and a quiet environment. If I get a good night's sleep, I don't think I need to apply anything externally. I learned that it was used by people in the literary world in the past, and I think that's probably true. You can relax in a quiet environment. I'm thinking of repeating it again.

Kamata is a beautiful traditional Japanese ryokan. Located on another side of the mountain from the more popular Hakone town. Much more secluded and quiet. 2 private outdoor baths without need for reservation and one in each bedroom. They also have a private garden across the street from the inn, a pond with carp which u can feed.

We ordered the wagyu set dinner which was amazing. Traditional Japanese breakfast was great too.

The hostess that greeted us and explained things to us in English was very helpful. Our attendant was very nice and accomadating. Per the hostess tattoos are acceptable in public bath. Would definitely visit again.

Best hot spring hotel in Hakone!! They have the best fish cuisine in town, nice outdoor hot spring and very friendly staff. A peaceful hidden gem. Highly recommended!! It would be more enjoyable if you know to speak simple Japanese.

The best hotel I have ever had in Japan. Excellent service, friendly staff, cosy environment, relaxing hot springs, and beautiful dinner and breakfast. I will definately come back again.

Tranquility. Feel good place and good to your soul foods. We are so glad to find this place, away from tourist madness in Hakone.
