Fantastic location, just next to the bus stop. Our room is spacious, in fact is the most spacious in the annex. The breakfast is simple yet delicious. The outdoor onsen is small but the ambience is great. The staff is attentive and friendly. We also checked out the Kansuiro main building which is full of history. Overall we had a pleasant stay in Kansuiro Annex.

A wonderful ryokan. A beautiful, clean, comfortable room, delicious breakfast. The hotel provides free access to the main ancient onsen building, and we were lucky to be in the onsen without any people. We had a wonderful time and relaxed.

A very old ryokan founded in 1614, the building is from the beginning of the 20th century. Wood, everything creaks, just great. The main building is practically a museum. The onsen is tattoo friendly, but there is a BIG minus - the water in the onsen shower is chlorinated! It spoils the whole impression. The onsen for men is so-so, the women's, they say, is better.

Booking a hotel is a no-brainer.

It's a quaint old building, but it has a nice, lived-in feel.
I found it a little inconvenient that there was no toilet in the room. Also, there are only stairs, so I think it would be difficult for elderly people to stay there.

The room was very clean and had a nice atmosphere! I was grateful that I could use the coffee machine for free.

I LOVED this ryokan!! The room was SO gorgeous, with its traditional Japanese sliding walls and windows and platform bed! It was comfortable, cute, and within walking distance of many restaurants and a train station. The onsen at the annex and the adjoining hotel are ridiculously beautiful, both are outdoors and SO relaxing! I will definitely be returning to stay here again!
Note- These rooms do NOT have an in-room bathroom; there is a community bathroom on each floor, and a shower on the second floor. This was fine for me, but it is something to consider when booking.

The annex building is next to the main building. If you exceed the check-in time, you need to check in at the main building. However, there was no staff assistance at the annex at night, so it took me a while to successfully check in.

I was in Japan for approximately 9 nights. This was by far the best, most beautiful room I was in. It fit the setting perfectly. The breakfast was fulfilling. Bathroom facilities - not inside the room itself - were clean and no issue whatsoever with those. I don’t speak a lick of Japanese and was able to fully enjoy my stay.

I used the public onsen in the annex (no one was there when I used it) and the private onsen in the main building. They absolutely hit the spot. Wonderful.

Folks may say the bed is hard and firm - and it is but that’s not an issue for me. If you wake up with aches, all the more reason to hit the onsen right when you wake up - works wonders!

I’d love if they served the tradition Japanese dinner too that you see, that’s the only thing missing but it wasn’t part of the reservation so I can’t mark negatively for that.

Very, very good!
The annex is next to the main building, and you can also go to the main building to take a bath. I highly recommend the open-air hot spring in the main building. Taking a bath while listening to the gurgling stream is very artistic!
The room is quite large, and the interior looks much newer than I expected. I originally thought it would be inconvenient if the bathroom was not in the room, but it was actually fine and had little impact.
As for meals, I only had breakfast at the hotel, which was average. For dinner, we went to an izakaya, which is about a 15-minute walk away. It was also great!
Of course, there will be sound insulation problems when staying in a Japanese-style hotel, which is difficult to avoid, but overall it is very comfortable!

The location was decent. It’s right in front of the bus stop. The tram station is also one of the most scenic ones along the whole line.

The rooms were comfy. I’d consider staying at least 2 nights if you want to properly enjoy what it’s like to be in the ryokan during the day as well.
