Koktem Sanatorium in Almaty

We arrived at the Koktem sanatorium for vacation in November 2025, and I was so disappointed that I even decided to write a review, even though I rarely write them. The rooms are simply trash: broken faucets, constantly leaking water in the toilet. The doors are shabby; people pay a lot of money and live in such shabby rooms. The food is for two, with some weird salads, all cut up haphazardly. The treatment is marginal, and everything worthwhile is paid for, even though we already paid for the trip. Totally disappointed, I'll never go there again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

A luxury room, no slippers, water, or toothbrush. The mattresses are sagging, and if you stain the towels or robe, you pay double the price. There's not even an exhaust fan in the bathroom. The dining room is disgusting! It's cramped, the food is unappetizing, and the staff is untrained. They skimped on everything! 38,000 tenge for a room, shame on you! The treatment is excellent, the girls are great! Study at the Zhanakorgan sanatorium, a luxury room.

She rested and underwent treatment at the Koktem sanatorium from October 24 to October 30, 2024, in a standard room. The rooms are old (there has been no renovation for a long time). The sink in the bathroom is small, as if it was intended for children in kindergarten, the shower stall is high, dangerous for older people (where the safety engineer is looking), while sitting on the toilet you rest your head against the wall, the mirror in the room is low, you can’t look into it while standing, the beds are narrow. In the dining room, a foreign object in the form of a piece of a bag was found in the salad; the chef could not explain anything about this. We checked in in the morning before 9-00, but for some reason they don’t provide breakfast. Breakfast is only included upon departure, but many can leave earlier. The light in the dining room is dim, in cloudy weather, and also during afternoon tea and dinner, it’s hard to see what’s on your plate. Many procedures are paid (charcot shower could be included in the package). The pool is dirty, the staff does not ensure that guests wear caps. I do not recommend getting paraffin, because... it is almost black, a lot of people use it and it is not updated. In the salt therapy room, salt is mixed with dust; vacationers breathe not salt, but dust. Why isn’t the sanatorium checked by the Sanitary Epidemiological Station? On 10/30/2024 I witnessed such a situation as a girl from the reception rudely treated an elderly grandmother who was checking out and did not have a glass in her room. She forced her to pay for it, but then the roommate explained that she had used her glass. The young receptionist spoke rudely to the elderly man as if he were a malicious intruder, and the grandmother was left with an unpleasant aftertaste after her vacation. I liked the worker from the intestinal irrigation office, she was very friendly and courteous, it’s clear that she loves her job. I will no longer rest in the Koktem sanatorium and will not recommend it to anyone.
