Cocogiri Island Resort Maldives in Vaavu Atoll

We had a great vacation at Cocogiri Island Resort. We had booked The Water Villa & The Beach Villa. Both were ex excellent, spacious, clean and cosy, with great washrooms. The food quality was amazing, caters to almost all palates and it had everything for all ages. I particularly liked their bakery items the most. Great water sports activities available. We just loved the snorkeling bit. Above all what's most striking feature for me about the place is the staff... professional, hardworking yet caring to your specific needs. Kudos to the Resort Manager Miss Valentina for her leadership style which fosters an environment of care. Would love to go back...they also took extra care of me with regards my medical needs which was extremely comforting. A 100 on 100 to each one of the staff for humanity.

My experience at Cocogiri Resort was truly exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome with their warm hospitality and attention to detail. The property itself is stunning, with breathtaking views and a peaceful atmosphere that makes it perfect for a relaxing getaway. The rooms were beautifully maintained, clean, and very comfortable, offering the perfect balance of luxury and coziness. Every aspect of the stay felt thoughtfully curated, from the ambiance to the service. One of the highlights was the food—absolutely delicious with a great variety to choose from. The dining experience, combined with the scenic surroundings, made every meal memorable. Overall, Cocogiri Resort exceeded expectations in every way. It’s the perfect place to unwind, enjoy nature, and experience top-notch hospitality. I would definitely love to visit again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a premium and relaxing vacation.

We have just returned from another fantastic holiday at Cocogiri Island Resort . We spent two weeks in a water villa and it was the most relaxing break with nothing too much for the wonderful team at Cocogiri. Since our first trip to Cocogiri the variety and quality of the food has continued to impress and the standard of the pastries esp in the morning would rival any Parisian cafe . We enjoyed a lovely candlelight dinner on one evening on the private jetty with just the sound of the lapping waves and background music. Absolute bliss! Although we have been fortunate enough to return to Cocogiri several times the one thing that continues to amaze is the reef and the snorkeling. On every visit there is something new or different and on this occasion we had an octopus which took residence outside our villa for several days and we were able to swim with it and observe it from.our decking. We observed turtle swimming past our villa, dolphins putting on a wonderful display very close to the resort , lobster on the reef as well as the huge variety of reef fish. A small reef shark swam right up to my partner and I when snorkeling and most evenings manta rays could be seen lounging in the shallow waters beside our villa. Absolutely amazing!!! The standards of the island always impress with the room cleaned daily and fresh towels provided. Once again thanks to Tina and her wonderful Team for looking after us so well. We cannot wait to go back .

It was our second time in Cocogiri. Experience was great as usual. Eye soothing views and mind refreshing activities,fresh food all you need for a vacation. Top notch service and cordial behavior. Everything just perfect. We had great time in our water villa. Hope to visit again soon.

It was a perfect holiday for us, we spent 2 weeks just snorkelling and eating! The water bungalow was beautiful and the food was top quality, plenty of choice for vegetarians, the curries in particular were absolutely delicious. We are so happy we chose Cocogiri, it was so peaceful. When snorkelling we saw the usual array of colourful fish, reef sharks, a zebra shark, a nurse shark, sting rays, eagle rays, a devil ray and a barracuda in the shallows. We have no complaints about the resort (everything was amazing) but when snorkelling it was distressing to watch people stand on the coral - please be careful, even when walking in the shallows there are small pieces of coral all around - sadly much of it is broken because people just do not seem to care about protecting it. Without the coral there will be no snorkelling, which would be devastating for the resort - we only came to snorkel and would not return if there was no house reef. There are notices on the door in each room but as people are ignoring this more needs to be done to protect the coral - it should be mentioned in info packs in the room, on signs at the snorkelling entry point and entrances to the water bungalow walkways, and it should be mentioned at every induction. I had to tell people to get off the coral so many times while snorkelling, and this really ruined my experience. The reef should be monitored by resort staff and a whistle blown when people are spotted standing or walking on the coral - otherwise the reef will be destroyed. Other tourists were also upset to see the coral being walked on, it really is not good for the resort. So PLEASE STAY OFF THE CORAL!

My husband and I chose Cocogiri after carefully reviewing several resorts across the Maldivian atolls, being our sixth time in  the Maldives. Finding a resort that checked all our boxes wasn’t easy: a beautiful reef (we love snorkeling!), comfort, cleanliness, small resort, modern rather than dated, or overly luxurious, and good value for money. After spending nine days at Cocogiri, we can confidently say that our expectations were not just met—they were exceeded! Cocogiri turned out to be a true gem in the Maldivian archipelago. Opened in 2021, this boutique resort has only 40 bungalows, half on the beach and half overwater. Upon arriving at Velana Airport, we were greeted by the Cocogiri representative, who immediately escorted us to the resort’s private speedboat. Meanwhile, we were connected via phone with Eden Viaggi’s local assistant, available to help, if needed, from our arrival and throughout our holiday. The speedboat departed right away with just the two of us on board, and we appreciated the safe and speedy transfer. The journey took just 1 hour and 10 minutes and was very enjoyable. Upon arriving at the Cocogiri dock, we were welcomed with a refreshing fruit juice and a cool towel, and led to the reception, where we met the Manager, Mrs. Tina, and her assistant, Mrs. Dana. They handled the check-in process and explained the resort’s schedules and services. A particularly thoughtful touch was the daily supply of 2.5 liters of water delivered directly to our room. Entering our beach villa, we were immediately impressed. The villa featured a beautiful palm-thatched roof. It was cozy, immaculate, and spacious, featuring a king-size bed and tasteful, functional furnishings with plenty of storage. The bathroom had a modern Maldivian style and was extremely well equipped, including two showers—one open-air, perfect for rinsing off after snorkeling. The villa also had a veranda with two loungers and a delightful hanging egg chair, offering both comfort and privacy (the stretch of beach in front of us felt entirely ours). Watching the sunset every evening, either lounging or gently swaying in the chair, was simply magical. The restaurant overlooking the sea was charming, maldivian-style, with a sandy floor (like the adjacent bar) and offered international cuisine, with a focus on Asian-Indian dishes but consistently including Italian and other international options .Pasta and pizza slices were often available. The buffet was varied, including plenty of vegetarian options. We particularly appreciated the wide selection of sweet breakfast items—pastries, cakes, cookies—which is not always a guarantee at resorts catering to international guests, and was especially important for us Italians, for whom breakfast is typically sweet. Our days passed delightfully with daily snorkeling, another major highlight of the resort. The house reef was easily accessible, just a few fin strokes from the shore, teeming with an incredible variety of fish and vibr

This was our third holiday on Cocogiri in as many years so you can tell that this island pretty much ticks all of our boxes. We like small, quiet islands with good snorkeling, interesting and tasty food offerings and clean, comfortable villas. Cocogiri delivers on all counts - but perhaps the most impressive feature of the island is the staff. Without fail they are friendly, efficient and pro-active lead by the force of nature that is Tina, the General Manager! Nothing is too much trouble for them, and everything happens with a smile. This all helps to create a wonderful relaxed atmosphere during your holiday. We'd love to keep this little gem a secret - but instead we're looking forward to our visit at the same time next year.

Cocogiri is ideally located roughly 1hr by speedboat from male, it has its own coral reef & the excursions available were amazing we swam with sharks & turtles & saw lots of dolphins on the jet ski trip, the dive team were fantastic & stayed with you the whole time making you feel really relaxed. Tina & her team went above & beyond for us throughout our trip, she really was amazing, the rooms were lovely & clean & had everything we needed The food was absolutely fantastic We will definitely be back

This is our third holiday in as many years to Cocogiri. Fantastic tranquil Island, beautiful sandy beaches with stunning blue sea. Tina (Manager) is a wonderful person, from communications to welcoming and making sure everything is just so. Coupled with Tina's fantastic staff / location / restaurant and sea life, we could not recommend Cocogiri more highly!!
