The facilities are fairly standard, but the ice machine experience was terrible. After using it on the first day, we found that the remaining ice cubes contained a lot of black impurities and some unidentified debris, which was quite disgusting. Even after trying again, the issue persisted.
The hotel pool was not very clean, and there is no jacuzzi. There are only two massage jet switches inside the pool.
The breakfast quality was average. The cold cuts were not very tasty, and most of the fruit seemed artificially ripened and didn’t taste good. There were limited options that were actually enjoyable. Local specialty snacks often seemed to have been reheated multiple times and were tough to chew, indicating poor quality control. The omelette was only well made on one day, when the chef prepared it properly in a half-moon shape. On the other days, it was more like a plate of scrambled eggs mixed with various vegetables, which felt quite perfunctory. After a few days, there was very little left worth eating.
However, I was very happy to see the sunrise on the last day—it was absolutely beautiful.
From the moment we arrived, every member of staff — from the porters to reception — was welcoming, professional, and genuinely friendly. Our luggage was taken to the room promptly, and the room itself was ready on arrival, which we were very grateful for. We also had a lovely view overlooking the marina.
Housekeeping maintained the room to a very high standard throughout our stay, with fresh towels provided daily. Any time we contacted reception — for example to request additional hangers — the service was incredibly efficient, with items delivered to our room within minutes, exactly as promised. The same applied to valet service: whenever we called ahead for the car, it was waiting for us by the time we reached reception.
Breakfast was absolutely outstanding, with an excellent variety of high-quality food, including international options and traditional Maltese dishes. All staff throughout the hotel were consistently polite, attentive, and professional.
We were also very impressed by the thoughtful personal touches. Chocolates were left in the room for the children on arrival, and on New Year’s Eve we returned to a lovely surprise of a small bottle of Prosecco and chocolates — a gesture that felt genuinely thoughtful and is something not many hotels do.
We stay in five-star hotels regularly and travel frequently, and I can honestly say there was nothing at all to fault during our stay. We were extremely impressed and will definitely be returning.

From the very first moment, we felt surrounded by genuine hospitality, professionalism, and warmth. The wonderful atmosphere is present at every step — from the reception, through all hotel services, to the breakfast experience. Everything is well organized, elegant, and welcoming, but what truly makes this place special are the people.
We would especially like to highlight Innocent, who coordinates the breakfast service. His professionalism, calm presence, attention to detail, and care for guests are outstanding. He ensured everything ran smoothly, always checking if guests were comfortable and satisfied. Thanks to him, mornings felt relaxed and perfectly taken care of.
Although we don’t know all staff members by name, every single interaction confirmed that this hotel has an exceptional team. You feel truly welcomed, not just served.
Hilton Malta became our personal “paradise on earth” — not only because of the beautiful location or high standards, but because of the people who create this place every day.
Because it’s not the walls that make you want to return.
It’s the people.
Highly recommended — and we are already looking forward to our next stay.
That said, there are a few aspects that are not perfect — although, of course, nothing ever is. I would have preferred a slightly softer bed, and when I requested a mattress change, it was replaced with one that was far too soft and remained that way for the rest of my stay. The housekeeping staff can also be quite noisy, so if you wish to rest later in the morning, that may be difficult.
I appreciate the way communication with the reception team is handled, although there is sometimes a certain rigidity when it comes to standards and procedures.
Breakfast is very varied, well above the average compared to hotels in other areas. However, there are some drawbacks, particularly in how the egg dishes are prepared, as they tend to be cooked with too much oil and often overdone. Overall, though, breakfast is excellent, offering many options to suit all preferences.
I will gladly return every time, both for the hotel itself, the location, and for the wonderful people of Malta.
