Fantastic hotel in a lovely location that overlooks a harbour. Food and service are excellent. There is a ferry to Valletta a 5 minute walk away. We stayed over New Year and enjoyed the celebrations on the rooftop.

Staying here is like stepping back in time. Boutique hotel located in a former bastion where the rooms are large and well appointed. Staff was engaged and friendly. Location is superior for exploring Bormla. Ferry to Valletta was so easy to get to just a 5 minute walk. We will stay here again.

Loved our stay at Cugo Gran! We visited during December and stayed here for 4 nights. Special shout out to Momo!!! She deserves 7 stars! Every staff member we interacted with was great - courteous and friendly.
We arrived very early from our previous destination. We checked in, not expecting to get our room any earlier since the check-in time is 3 PM but Momo was amazing and worked some magic to give us our room within 2 hours. We had a little snafu with our reservation cleared that up, brought us some complementary drinks, gave us an information about the island since we said we would go explore while the rooms were getting ready. We had booked a suite since we’re traveling with 2 kids… check out the pics- it was a great room, but the views were def the highlight. We could see the harbor from our rooms and the December lights made the view extra special. Also, a bonus is that the ferry to Valletta is right around the corner over the bridge!
The on site restaurant is highly rated - we paid for breakfast to be included in our stay, and by the 4th day, we were fatigued of even that delicious food :) The menu is short and there are not very many customization options beyond what is on the menu. A couple of minor inconveniences that I’d like to note - the bathroom while spacious has an open shower stall and water spills all over the floor after a shower, there are no plugs in the bathroom for ladies to use any tools for the hair!, there are plenty of plug points all over but weirdly they are different (which does help) and some of them don’t work, no heated pool or hot tub, and lastly - the quality of the towels and robes is just so run down I’m surprised that they even use them tbh… it just doesn’t suit the quality of the place!

It may be easier to list what did not stand out at this hotel! The hotel builds effortlessly on its old roots and merges historic architecture with all the amenities expected in an amazing hotel. The staff were professional and friendly at check in and throughout our stay. The room was clean, spacious, and perfect for our family. Having a kitchenette in the room made taking care of the baby so much easier. Breakfast was fresh and delicious with options for every taste. It was easy to walk to many sites and restaurants. I would recommend this hotel to everyone!

Lovely hotel! Rooms were very clean and spacious. Breakfast is not a buffet style but there are lots of good options to order. The rooftop pool is a nice touch and access to valletta is easy.

This hotel worked very well for us and we would stay there again. The nearby ferry over to the city runs frequently and we enjoyed the view from it.

Gorgeous hotel, great location. Loved our room terrace overlooking the harbour. Had to complain about the shampoo being refilled with water but this was soon rectified by reception. Staff were all fabulous especially Martha, she always greeted you with a fabulous smile.
Enjoyed the rooftop terrace and pool even though the water was freezing!
Had a delicious meal at hotel restaurant. Happy hour drinks were enjoyed but we were disappointed that the hotel bar was closed a few days each week.

The hotel was beautiful and food was good but the staff were the real treat. They were very friendly, helpful and consistently exceeded expectations.

A beautiful, historic building and a lovely, lovely hotel.
Staff could not do enough for us and we're super friendly. Caterena was a star.
Room very well equipped. Various International TV stations and free WiFi.
Breakfast was fabulous with lots of choice and cooked fresh. Great quality.
Rooftop pool was a lovely facility but lost the sun by 4:30 (Oct).
Restaurant was open Weds to Sunday for dinner and was another jem.
Situated in a tranquil suburb across from Valetta you need to take the ferry or a Taxi.
Would not hesitate to stay again
