Description

Hotel Galicya is a three-star accommodation established in 1999 and renovated in 2009, located in Krakow's Podgorze district. The hotel provides a wide range of room types from Economy Single rooms to spacious 3 Bedrooms Apartments and Duplex Suites, catering to various traveler needs. Guests appreciate the hotel's cleanliness and amenities, with ratings of 9/10 in both categories. Facilities include air conditioning, free parking, WiFi, a restaurant, and family-friendly rooms. The 24-hour front desk and luggage storage add convenience for travelers with different schedules. While the hotel is somewhat dated in style, daily room cleaning and replenishment of tea and coffee supplies are standard. The presence of pets is allowed with additional fees, which some guests noted as a factor affecting room comfort. Breakfast is served buffet style, including hot dishes and a variety of cold items. Overall, Hotel Galicya is recognized for attentive service and practical amenities suited to budget-conscious visitors.

Location

Situated at Rzemieślnicza 4 in the Podgorze district, Hotel Galicya is approximately 1.5 km from the Edward Dembowski Memorial, a notable local monument. The hotel is close to public transportation, with tram lines 8 and 18 running directly adjacent to the property, providing a 7-minute ride to Wawel Castle and about 10 minutes to the main shopping center. The nearest beach, Plaża Bagry, is 3.99 km away. Dining options nearby include a restaurant just 233 meters away, a McDonald's 259 meters from the hotel, and Mekong restaurant at 274 meters. This location offers easy access to Krakow’s center while being outside the busiest areas, which some guests found quieter but others described as industrial and noisy due to trams and nearby construction.

Tips

  • If you prefer a quieter room, request one away from the street and radiators to avoid noise.
  • Use the tram lines 8 or 18 just outside the hotel for quick access to Krakow’s center and main attractions.
  • When dining in the hotel restaurant, be aware some guests found the service inconsistent, so exploring nearby eateries might be preferable.

We arrived late tuesday night and we was given room 200,our first impressions was the room was very dated, the room was unbearable to sleep in as it was so hot the windows would only open about a couple of centremitres! Around 2am in the morning we was woken up by extreme clanking from the radiators (it’s a shame I can’t add videos so u could hear the noise they were making) this happened multiple times throughout the night/early hours of the morning. After being out all day the next day we came back and stood outside the room and heard the radiators making the same racket through door so we went to report it to reception and the lady was rude and had attitude and we offered her to listen to the recordings of the noise and she said “no I don’t need to hear it the maintenance guy will be out within two hours. to make the noise stop she said to put the radiators on number 2 which didn’t work the radiators made the noise for another solid 2 hours. The maintenance guy arrived and he told us to turn the heat up full to stop the noise but we tried all ways to stop it but he didn’t believe us and said he’d try to get us moved rooms after we put our point across saying we tried everything we ended up being moved rooms the room (207) was instantly cooler and the windows opened wider but then realised we had bites all over our bodies we think it’s bed bugs or fleas as it’s a pet friendly hotel… the only good thing about our stay was the scrambled eggs at breakfast and their apple juice was delicious

For a 3-star hotel it is satisfactory. The reception staff was willing, as was the cleaning staff. The breakfast is international, with a satisfactory variety. The dishes we tried at dinner were excellent. And there is a variety of choices. The negative was the restaurant staff. Both the two young women in the morning and the burly employee in the evening, were indifferent and bored, just to get the job done... The waiter almost kicked us out of the place when we returned and wanted to sit down and drink a beer. Under the pretext that he had to clean the tables, he did not allow the ladies of our group to sit down, he spoke strictly and in an intense tone. Not at all professional!!! Just finish what he was doing and don't dirty the place again. Unacceptable behavior!!! And when we bought drinks from outside, because he didn't serve us from the bar, he sent us to sit on the sofa at the reception and on the stairs!!! The receptionist on duty didn't react!!! On the contrary, the young evening employee, the blonde one, was very helpful, willing and always with a smile!! The room was clean and relatively comfortable. For a simple stay, the hotel is convenient because it is close to the center, while tram lines 8 & 18 pass next door and you reach the Wawel Castle in 7 minutes and the shopping center in 10 minutes.

Okayish communicated, very minimal room setup, breakfast decent, contact with reception desk okay.

Low rating due to cleaning standard - halfway used roll of TP with "signature" on the side, hair in a kettle, empty (or broken) shower gel dispenser and shower head leaks in like 3 places.

Very loud at night

Ok negative first, hotel was a little tired and dated, away from the city centre. That said we loved how friendly and helpful the staff were in particular Dorota the receptionist was very welcoming, extremely helpful with tips on where to get the tram into the main square, even offered to sort out a breakfast box as we were leaving early to fly home. The young guy from Ukraine who served in the bar every night(Im sorry I forgot your name) is a credit to Best Western, always cheerful a real nice guy. Finally Tomasz the manager friendly helpful and we hope to see you in the hotel next year. Location was less than 20 mins from the city centre, food was very good (great chef) and local beer also. Krakow is a beautiful city with lots going on, trams are very cheap just 4zl for 20 mins, the food in the square was average price and the Polish people made us feel very welcome. We will definitely be going back.

Staff are friendly and very helpful. The food was excellent and the service. Room was clean but outdated. Definitely not a hotel for tourists as its in an industrial area and away from Krakow central so we relied on Ubers every day. Hotel needs to be modernised with better sound proofing windows and walls as we were disturbed every night with banging doors and people chatting. In addition it needs better windows to shut out the noise of the trams throughout the night and industrial machinery at 2am.
Booked through travel agent Hayes Travel/Jet2 and won't be again due to the fact that it isnt suitable for tourists and if we had done our research would have picked somewhere else to stay. As mentioned before we had no issues with staff as they were lovely.

The hotel is very conveniently located, very close to public transport (a 20-minute tram ride to the Market Square, several lines). The hotel was quiet and peaceful. We were able to check in earlier. The room had quiet, efficient air conditioning, which was important in such hot weather. The room was cleaned daily, cleaning products were provided, towels were changed, and tea and coffee supplies were replenished (there were tea and coffee making facilities in the room). The beds were comfortable, with plenty of TV channels. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful, with even four hot dishes. The staff was friendly and helpful. This hotel is worth a return visit and a recommendation!

This hotel is very basic and a little dated but it was spotlessly clean and our room was prepped daily with fresh towels and beds made.. its not directly in the main centre but is not far at all, we got an uber for around £3.50 or there was a tram stop directly outside. Across the road is a supermarket, McDonald’s, chemist, kebab shop.. the breakfast was a selection of hot food including sausage and scrambled eggs, and the cold was cereal, yoghurt, hams, cheeses and fruits. The coffee was lovely as were the different breads to toast. I would stay here again.

The room was large, spacious, and clean. There was a kettle, a TV, and air conditioning was a big plus. The bathroom was comfortable and spotlessly clean. There was everything we needed. The breakfast was very good!
08.06.2025 Levent
Very close to the tram stop, easy to reach; rooms are ok; breakfast is good; quiet, clean hotel.
12.05.2025 Shadow
Decent enough budget hotel. Service was friendly and informative. Location is outside the city centre but there is a cheap and frequent tram service 2 minutes (1 minute if you walk briskly) walk away which will take you there. Breakfast was nice and varied.

Room’s a bit of a let down.

+ It was clean, well stocked with tea and coffee and the bathroom, WiFi and AC work well.

- No sound proofing so pray for good neighbours (I think I know all the words to the Sto Lat song now albeit with a certain amount of discordance), the bed was two singles pushed together with slightly different mattress depth so be prepared for a restless night as you fall into the crack of doom. I think, as a solo traveller, I would’ve preferred it if they had just left them apart. Only one English speaking channel on the TV (centre left leaning Euronews on a 1 hour loop).

Galicya was good but with room (if you’ll forgive the pun) for improvement.
