Had a very nice stay, super helpful staff excellent rustic decor and a great courtyard. Nice touches like afternoon coffe/pastries and evening bubbles included.
We did not opt for breakfast (not really our thing) but were still treated to morning coffee and fresh orange juice by the very friendly staff.
Being in the middle of the old castle grounds means no bolt or uber cars are allowed - so on arrival by Bolt we had to walk the last bit Not a big problem as the regular taxis are really not much more expensive.
It also means you’re in a peacock sanctuary. These guys make a lot of noise, but luckily only during daytime (and apparently during mating season which was around our stay)
If you’re into the historical vibe (as you probably are since you’re going to Lisboa) this is a great option.

The rooms and the public areas lived up to my expectations of a heritage hotel. But the bathroom in our room on the top floor has seen its better time and does need touching up. Besides, we noticed a puddle of water on the bathroom floor every time we showered. We were sure the shower door was closed. So apparently there are plumbing issues that need to be addressed. The towels we placed on the bathroom floor were soaking wet every time after we showered. It was not only annoying but downright hazardous.

Hotel location was quite inconvenient to get to as it was a steep hike up a cobbled stone pathway each time, so not ideal for end of the day after you’ve already done a whole day of sightseeing. The hotel staff were nice overall but some could be friendlier and show more enthusiasm. It also would’ve been nice if they offered free entry to the nearby castle, seeing as it’s the only hotel right beside it. The hotel itself was small but charming, with the facilities being quite outdated but adding to the charm of the historical place. Breakfast had a small but satisfying variety of healthy and both sweet and savory options which I appreciated. I also loved the complimentary flask of porto wine which was waiting for us in our room upon check in and seeing the beautiful peacocks stroll around the hotel from our window / during breakfast.

We booked this based on the pictures and reviews and were not disappointed. We arrived before check in time so they took our luggage while we went on a tour. When we returned, they brought our luggage to our room and booked a Fado Restaurant for us for the following evening. The next morning after having a wonderful breakfast( included in our stay) I found out the shower didn't work. We reported it to the front desk and left for a tour. It was fixed when we returned. The hotel is right next to the Castle of St. George on the top of one of the hills. To get to our tours we had to walk down to the city squares, going back was a little bit harder. There is a bus that stops near the hotel , but we chose to walk.. We enjoy staying in small hotels like this with lots of character and it didn't disappoint.

What are unique facility. Next to or within a castle. The roads going to it are cobblestone. Winding roads and it takes multiple left and right turns to get to it.

Located in central Lisbon. Access to areas of interest was easy.

The staff was excellent. There was a billing mistake made. They went the extra mile to correct it. I would’ve never even known that it existed. If you wanted a taxi at 3:30 in the morning, they had a taxi there at 3:30 ready to take you.

The bar that they had was fairly well stocked. You used it on the honor system. What place has that kind of policy?

We could not have asked for a better experience.

We loved our stay at Solar do Castelo - it felt like stepping into a quiet piece of Lisbon's history. The hotel sits within the Castelo Sao Jorge walls, giving it a truly unique and romantic atmosphere. Our room was charming, with beautiful touches that blended modern comfort and old-world character.
The staff went above and beyond - friendly, welcoming, and always ready with great recommendations for exploring. Breakfast in the courtyard was a highlight - peaceful,delicious, and the perfect way to start the day.

The location is perfect for wandering Lisbon's cobblestone streets yet tucked away enough to feel calm and safe.
Highly recommend for couples or anyone looking for a memorable, authentic Lisbon stay.

Very difficult to get to. Driver finally stopped and we rolled luggage several blocks up steep hill. Otherwise, nice lobby /courtyard. Rooms small cramped, and not great. Breakfast fair. No restaurant.
Could be very nice, but not.

This hotel exceeded all my expectations!! The conceirge went above and beyond her duties to make our stay enjoyable. The room the breakfast buffet the service all was top notch. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to enjoy Lisbon!

The staff treated me like family - they assisted with taxi services - information abt Lisbon and with the golf cart when I could not climb back up to the hotel - it was a great location and I would go back to this hotel

45 minute wait. Another hour wait for two salads. My salad consisted of mixed greens, deli turkey slices and mass produced vinaigrette. The other "entree" was a slice of bread with pre-frozen shrimp that were supposedly marinated topped with cherry tomatoes and red onions. There was one gentleman working who made the whole experience worth while, he offered us another seat because we were sat next to smokers and checked on us a few times. Waited another 15 minutes for the bill that never came and waited at the counter for an additional 5 minutes to pay. I really hope that this was just a bad day because in my 2 months being in Europe, this was by far the WORST food I have eaten.

Small, cozy and low key with very good and efficient wait staff. Some of the staff speak good English and are very happy to assist you with the menu.

The restaurant would be classed as basic by some people, but the food and experience are well worth it.

The menu is not comprehensive, however the food we received was of a very good standard. The prices are quite low considering the quality of the food. Wine and food for 2 people was less than €30.
