Tigotan Lovers & Friends Playa de las Américas - Adults Only (+18) in Playa de las Americas

We stayed at Tigotan Hotel in Tenerife and, unfortunately, had one of the most unpleasant room experiences we’ve ever had, especially surprising for a 4-star hotel. On day 3, we discovered a cockroach in our room, which was located on the ground floor. We spoke to reception the following day, and while they did apologize, they explained that this was something that could easily happen when staying on that floor. Regardless, it was very unpleasant and uncomfortable. I would strongly recommend upgrading your room in advance, as the ground floor room was not a space where you could truly relax. The next day, after spending time at Siam Park, we returned to our room only to find it flooded. Luckily, we didn’t lose any of our belongings, as we had kept everything off the floor. We were then moved to a first-floor room, which was clearly much better in both quality and comfort. Just when we thought things had improved, we were lying in bed at night and saw a shadow moving from the bathroom area. It turned out to be another cockroach, running up and down the bathroom door. Absolutely disgusting and disturbing. I reported this to reception again. They apologized and assured us that this isn’t a normal occurrence, which I really hope is true. As compensation, we were told we wouldn’t need to pay for the safe or drinks in the minibar, which I felt was a fair gesture at first. However, that changed when I was asked to sign an NDA, saying I couldn’t speak publicly or post about the situation on social media. That was extremely disappointing. Transparency matters, and no one should be asked to stay silent about their personal experience, especially when it affects future guests. It’s unfortunate, because other parts of the stay were nice. The cleaning staff and kitchen team deserve a lot of praise, they clearly work hard and do a great job. We also heard that many other guests had changed rooms, which didn’t give us much confidence in the overall room quality. Unfortunately, I would not recommend staying in the rooms at Tigotan. Despite the staff doing their best to apologize and assist, this was by far the worst room experience I’ve had. Next time we visit Tenerife, we will definitely be choosing Jardín Hotel in Adeje instead.
