The hotel is located on the Catalan coast of Platja d'aro, Costa Brava. It is situated in a large garden with terraces. Rooms at the Columbus come with a private balcony overlooking the Mediterranean sea and the mountains.
Built: 1957
Renovated: 2009
Location: 130 km from the airport of Barcelona, 30 km from the airport of Girona, 150 m from the center of Platja D'aro.
Consists of one 6-storey building.
The hotel has 98 rooms.
Beach: public sandy beach in 30 m from hotel (1st coastal line). Umbrellas, sunbeds on the beach - fee. The beach is 2 km away.

Staff was very friendy and tried as good as she could with English. We got a free room upgrade with sea view instead of mountain view, which was great.
The rooms were OK and clean but somewhat out dated.
The view was great! During the evening it rs pretty noisy outside due to the bar next to the hotel. There is also no way to turn off the annoying balcony light.
Breakfast was OK. Good selection of meat, cheese and fruits and great view at the sea.
There is also supoosed to be an inside bar but it is closed and does not seem to be used.
The swimming pool area looked maintained.

Hot water doesn't work, plugs don't work, dirty old building.

It's an old hotel but well maintained and it provides all basic things a tourist needs. And it's just at the beach!

Never had the experience of such an amazing restaurant manager before. He really knows how to treat a guest properly. I think his name is Charly.
