My girlfriend and I stay in Granada several times a year and usually prefer boutique-style hotels in the city centre.
We chose Barceló Carmen Granada as a more affordable alternative to Palacio Gran Vía. The hotel was fully refurbished in 2023 and offers a modern, stylish design, a very comfortable bed, a great shower concept and a pleasant atmosphere throughout. The location is excellent, right in the city centre, and the staff was professional and friendly. The Christmas dinner on December 25th was also very nice and festive.
On the downside, the underground parking (€21/night) is extremely tight and difficult to access through narrow old-town streets. Our shower head was leaking and unfortunately not fixed during our stay, and housekeeping could improve slightly as we found some hair in the bathroom after cleaning.
Overall, a very solid hotel with strong potential. With a few improvements, I would happily stay here again.

The location is pretty good, and the facilities are decent, but the hotel still has quite a few issues.
When I first opened the window, there was a pungent sewer smell, so I quickly closed it. (It was an interior-facing room). I thought the smell wouldn't linger in the room, but when I came back from dinner, the entire room reeked. I contacted Trip.com to communicate with the hotel, and Trip.com was quite responsive. Soon after, they replied that the hotel agreed to change my room. It was already past 11 PM. Then, when I went to the front desk to switch rooms, that's when things got ridiculous 😂. The first key card they gave me didn't work. The second one did, but there was someone already inside, sleeping! I probably scared them quite a bit. By the time I finally got to the third room, it was already past midnight.
A major issue is that the hotel lobby and several other areas would periodically have an unpleasant odor, which is really hard to accept.
Let me also tell you this: about fifteen minutes before check-out, the cleaning lady knocked on my door impatiently. Do you understand? It wasn't a normal knock; it was an annoyed, quick, and loud bang on the door. When I opened it and asked what she wanted, she said it was to remind me to check out. Isn't that just absurd?
The only highlight of the entire hotel was the excellent breakfast and good service!

The hotel's location is unbeatable, right across from El Corte Inglés with plenty of dining options nearby, and it's convenient for visiting attractions. The rooms are spacious, perfect for both adults and children. Google Maps can be misleading when navigating to the hotel, often directing you down a very narrow alleyway when the hotel is actually on the main street. I recommend navigating to El Corte Inglés first, then driving across to the hotel. You can temporarily park at the hotel entrance to unload luggage, and they offer free valet parking. Overall, highly recommended.

Poor experience in this hotel. First, the hotel has multiple buildings and they did not inform us which set of elevators we should use. Next, the wifi-password they provided was outdated, and they gave us new login details only after we went back down and asked for it. The bed is extremely squeaky, and the curtains do not cover the window at all, making the curtains redundant, and blinding us with light at hours way earlier than our intended waking time. Finally, when checking out, we were informed that the express checkout box placed at the counter cannot be used and we had to queue up a while for checkout. When we asked what the purpose of the express checkout box is for, they explained it is for "unique" customers. Then why on earth would you place an express checkout box plainly with no further indications??? It is beyond ridiculous. The only pros are the high water-pressure shower, the multiple plugs for USB and USB-C connectivity, and the convenient location to the city centre.

The location and surroundings are excellent. From the balcony, you can see the snowy mountains and the Alhambra. Directly across the street downstairs is the bus stop for the airport, which is super convenient. The #33 bus goes directly from the train station to the hotel. The only downside is that the room still smells like new装修 (renovation), otherwise everything else was perfect.

I forgot a shirt when checking out, and honestly, I thought it was gone for good. But I decided to try my luck and contacted Trip.com customer service. They immediately reached out to the hotel and informed me that the staff had safely kept it for me. Since I was already in Madrid, I had to find someone to pick it up. Trip.com helped coordinate all the necessary information. It felt amazing to get it back! Huge thanks to the hotel staff and to Trip.com for their excellent service. From now on, Trip.com will be my first choice for all my travels.

Overall, my experience at the hotel was excellent. The location was convenient, making it easy to get to various attractions. The breakfast was incredibly rich and varied; I particularly enjoyed the high-quality ham and the wide selection of hot dishes. The room was clean and tidy, ensuring a comfortable stay. The biggest surprise was the rooftop pool, which offered stunning views of the snow-capped mountains – perfect for photos! Good value for money, highly recommended.

Booked this hotel at a high price(compared to other hotels in the area) through AMEX travel portal only because they advertised a family room with two connected rooms which was definitely a scam. The rooms given to us were two rooms with doors across from each other in a small hallway that needed to be unlocked with the card every time. This definitely did not meet our requirements of having two connected rooms with kids. Ended up staying for only one night instead, the hotel refused to refund our money. Do not recommend this hotel
