Catalonia Molina Lario in Malaga

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The location was superb, and the room was comfortable and clean. The staff was extremely friendly, and we felt very welcomed throughout our stay. However, I would have preferred a larger closet, as there was only a small one for the three of us staying in a triple room.
The breakfast could definitely be improved with a greater variety of food options. We stayed for seven nights, and the breakfast selection was exactly the same every day; a four-star hotel should offer a much better and more varied experience.
The rooftop pool was quite small and included a bar area, so we did not end up using it.

Fantastic location, and if you get the right room, great views. The room was also quite spacious (although I think we might have gotten the biggest room on the floor somehow). Easy walk to the old city center and to Malagueta.

The hotel was perfectly located close to the Cathedral. It had a nice feel and was well appointed. Room 701 was spacious and better than expected for the rate we were paying. However, we realised in the middle of the night the air conditioning wasn’t working properly (as mentioned on other reviews) and the room was at an unbearable temperature of 23.5 degrees. The mattress was broken on one of the sides so my husband kept on sinking going to the side, we didn’t sleep well and were too tired to call reception so late at night.
The swimming pool area was nice and had great potential but lacked attention to detail and supervision. The staff was friendly but it was clear there was not a senior person taking ownership of the space. The singer Dani Marquez was excellent, we weren’t expecting live music so it was a real treat to see him perform whilst enjoying the views.
The receptionist on check out was efficient but didn’t ask if we had enjoyed our stay perhaps she was aware of the air conditioning issue and was avoiding dealing with a complaint.
We didn’t have breakfast, €24 per person was far too much for Spain considering the better value options nearby.

The good
Location: unbeatable.
Rooftop bar: brilliant (especially when there’s live music).
Pool: small, but great for cooling down under the hot Madrid sun.
Price: (£131 for a Sunday, via Expedia for late May) represented excellent value for money.
The bad
A/C: wasn’t up to the job and the lowest we could get the room was 22.5 (warmer in the bathroom). Bed: sagging on one side.

We stayed 1 week in this hotel. Great location, 5 minutes away from the Cathedral and 10 minutes walk from Alcazaba, Picasso museum. So close to Malaga port. All the attractions are do close. Shopping centre, so many restaurants and plenty to choose. We watched Fleminco show near port. We walked everywhere. Because of it's location we really enjoyed our holiday. Rooms are very nice, bed was comfortable, bathrooms were clean. Service was good. Food in the restaurant was good. We enjoyed views from the roof top bar.

Good hotel

The hotel is perfect for a trip! From the top floor, you can take in the panoramic view of the cathedral. Just outside, you'll find a bustling pedestrian street, especially lively at night. An after-dinner stroll through the area offers both a dazzling night view of the city and an immersive experience of the local culture. It's truly relaxing.

Modern hotel with comfortable & very well equipped rooms.
Location is TOP. Every key area from a touristic point of view is within walking distance.
Effective price range is around €280~320 per night.
Definitely value for money.
Will always be our first choice

The location is great. Just outside the door is the One-Armed Cathedral and a variety of delicious restaurants. It's within walking distance of the beach and all the attractions. However, parking is inconvenient. Our car couldn't be parked in the hotel basement because they said it was full. We had to park in a parking lot that required walking distance. Then, when we drove back to get our luggage, the waiter said we could park, but the police said we couldn't. It was very inconvenient. Also, when I opened the door to my room, a large suitcase suddenly appeared inside, so I quickly changed rooms. Overall, it's average.

We booked directly through the hotel which according to the website should come with certain benefits, however we didn't seem to receive any of these like a welcome drink, although we were able to check in early which we were grateful for. We didn't get any advice from the reception staff about the local area or a map (which we asked for later), there wasn't anything wrong with this, other than on all of our recent trips we have been welcomed with more information.
Room was great, we had a superior room and it was ideal for us and spacious. The website said some come with balconies, we had requested a balcony as we had booked directly via the hotel and had mentioned it was a special birthday. The room had a 'balconette' but not a balcony as such, so unsure if our request was just ignored or whether they refer to their 'balconettes' as Balconies. Our tea and coffee was not topped up on one occasion and we didn't receive any milk, but this seems to be a common theme for us lately!
They had Shower Gel, Shampoo and Conditioner which was a bonus and the hairdryer was very good!
The rooftop pool/bar is very small and the pool very small. It is not just for hotel guests, but the public as well, which we did realise but makes it very uncomfortable if you want a dip and a sunbathe after 16.30pm when the bar opens. Also the bar times differ from the website.
We found the rooftop bar to be very disappointing, not just because it is very small. The service is extremely slow but also unhelpful. My partner asked if they do coffee and the waitress just said 'no" and turned away (he would have ordered something else given the chance). We also tried to go there for a special birthday drink, however, we did not get served, my partner attempted to go to the bar to order but was told to sit down to be served....however, nobody served us, so we left. Major improvements needed for the rooftop bar!
Hotel is in a great location for bus stops along the coast.
The Matiz restaurant was excellent. We chose the tasting menu without the wine flight and it was was great, we particularly loved the service from Sophia as well.

Overall a great stay but could be room for improvement at the rooftop bar and a better welcome from reception including the welcome drink advertised!
