Reviews
That said, the hotel itself feels noticeably tired. The rooms are extremely dated and look like they haven’t seen a refurbishment in decades. In my room, the wardrobe door wouldn’t close and the heating didn’t work at all. While maintenance did manage to fix the door, the heating issue was never resolved during the stay, which was disappointing. Breakfast was also very average… especially when you’re in Barcelona, a city with such an incredible food scene.
To their credit, the team did apologise with chocolates and a bottle of cava, which was a thoughtful gesture. One final heads-up: being so central means you can clearly hear the metro rumbling by. Great location and lovely staff, but the rooms and overall condition really let it down.
They also have a sweet bar, complimentary for the guests.
Breakfast: Decent. Pastries and churros were great, but other options were just okay.
Rooms: Are the facilities old? Unsure but we had to change rooms after a breaker shut down and the room smelled like something burning. We were moved twice (once without assistance) and details for our third (temporary) guest were repeatedly overlooked, including missing amenities. But overall, rooms were fair.
Service: Inconsistent especially with room arrangements, but overall, staffs were kind and responsive when issues were raised. They also greeted us quite often, and one of them gave suggestions to restaurants which all were great (and popular). Our third guest was able to stay for free for a few days due to our elite membership, which was appreciated.
Location: Located in an area with good access. Easy to access various shopping districts, attractions, and transportations.
But overall, fair hotel to stay at.
The hotel has an excellent location right on La Rambla, close to many major attractions. There is a taxi line directly in front of the hotel, which makes getting around very easy.
The hotel staff were always friendly and helpful. During our stay, there was some construction and maintenance work on La Rambla, which caused a bit of noise in the morning, but this seems temporary and should be resolved once the work is completed.
Many activities and attractions are within easy walking distance. The rooms were clean and comfobrtable.
Both rooms we were given were very old... they are in need of a renovation! On the website they obviously only show the newer rooms, the ones that stand out more, and for the old rooms they post 1-2 photos, but those photos hardly show any details. Both rooms lack light and outlets, with little decoration... the rooms were outdated. The worst part was the mattresses in both rooms, incredibly old and of poor quality—you could tell they had been used a lot and how old they were. You lie down on the bed and it feels like the mattress will swallow you.
I don’t understand how they pass quality checks, though given this hotel’s good location and the substantial revenue it generates... perhaps that’s why they pass quality audits. Our status in the loyalty program is Titanium Elite, but the booking was made with points, so I imagine they, along with other hotels (not all), have the habit of giving the worst rooms to point bookings, since in terms of value/benefits for the hotel it isn’t the same as the one that pays the full price. We feel disappointed with the experience, as it made us feel partly punished for using points.
The good thing about the hotel is the location and the breakfast. I would like to highlight the excellent service received from Edgar. We sent them our feedback, and the only thing we received was a copy-pasted reply along with about 10,000 points, which for the hotel is worth around 20–30 EUR.
