Ohla Barcelona in Barcelona

I had an amazing 7 days and 6 nights stay at Ohla Barcelona. From the moment I arrived, it completely exceeded my expectations.

Beyond being a beautiful five-star hotel with a rooftop pool, gym, rooftop bar, and a Michelin one-star restaurant, what truly impressed me was the warmth of the service and the genuine focus on guest experience.

Even before arriving, I received thoughtful emails from their Experience Team — and yes, they actually call it the Experience Team — asking if there was anything I needed ahead of check-in. It immediately made the stay feel personal and intentional.

Upon checking in, guests are welcomed with free-flow bubbly from Barcelona, trays of chocolates, and a hospitality team that genuinely makes you feel cared for. The hotel also has its own app where you can request amenities, special pillows, support pillows, and other essentials conveniently. There is also a dedicated concierge/help desk that gives excellent recommendations for dining and things to do around the city.

The location is another huge highlight. The hotel sits directly across from Palau de la Música Catalana, and within walking distance to the Barcelona Cathedral and the Gothic Quarter, where every street and building feels layered with history and character. It’s the perfect place to slow down, wander through the Gothic streets, and eventually make your way toward El Born for dinner.

Even when heading further out to places like Sagrada Família, Casa Batlló, or Casa Milà, everything is only a short taxi ride away, which made the stay incredibly convenient.

I also appreciated the well-equipped gym and sauna, which allowed me to maintain my workout routine while travelling.

One of the nicest touches was the turndown service every evening. There were always handwritten notes waiting for us, along with chocolates, little surprises, complimentary pictorial books about Barcelona, and even bottles of wine in the room. None of it felt performative or overly scripted. The warmth felt sincere and heartfelt.

Design-wise, the hotel strikes a beautiful balance between old and new Barcelona. From the exterior, you still see the classic architectural curves and aged character of the city, while inside, the interiors are dark, modern, contemporary, and thoughtfully designed. Cozy rooms, elegant marble finishes, and a global design sensibility that would appeal to travellers who appreciate aesthetics, comfort, and detail.

The breakfast buffet was also excellent, and every member of the staff always seemed ready to help and serve with genuine hospitality.

I truly enjoyed my stay here, and if I return to Barcelona, I would absolutely stay here again. Easily one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at in Spain, if not the best.

Very attentive - Review

First off, the hotel's location is excellent. The popular Jon Cake and the Spanish churros shop are nearby, and there's a supermarket right across the street, which is super convenient.

The hotel is just across the road from Metro Line 4, and there are bus stops right outside, making it really easy to get to attractions like Passeig de Gràcia.

There's a Michelin-starred restaurant on the 0.5 floor (half-floor down), and the hotel will email you in advance to remind you so you can make a reservation.

The bed in the room was quite comfortable, but the bathroom design was a bit awkward, and the toilet being an internal, windowless room made it quite dark.

The service was excellent. They would help press the elevator buttons when we entered and exited, and every afternoon they'd deliver chocolates and ask if we needed anything.

Overall, it's pretty good!

The bed was pretty good, and the hotel's location is super convenient, close to all the main attractions and markets. However, it's right on the street, so it got a bit noisy at night with some road construction. Also, the bathroom door wouldn't stay open properly, which led to some unpleasant smells.

Great location, clean and modern rooms, perfect for business trips or leisure. The subway station and El Corte Inglés are right outside, making transportation super convenient. There are also Chinese restaurants nearby. Highly recommended!

All round excellent. Bed a bit springy and coffee machine in the room doesn’t work. But otherwise all great.

The shower in the room is right in the middle, and with three glass walls, it felt like a strip show for the family, which was quite embarrassing. I think the hotel should get consent for this during check-in. Other than that, everything was satisfactory, especially with the airport bus nearby and being in the heart of the bustling area.

Our best stay in Spain. The staffs were all friendly. I only managed to catch a few people’s names like Anass, Raquel, Sebastian but everyone (front desk, concierge, housekeeping, breakfast staffs) in the hotel made us feel very welcome and comfortable. For example, Sebastian offered a pair of scissors without us even asking when he saw us repacking our luggage at the lobby. Everyday we went out and returned, everyone would greet us. We truly felt the warm welcome and friendliness of the Spanish through them. Very glad to book this hotel even though the hotel may be slightly more expensive than other hotels in Barcelona. Housekeeping seems to be done twice daily too (they will leave us chocolates on our bed every evening which is extremely sweet of them). Housekeeping team also sprayed fragrance on our little pillows which we brought with us on the trip (no other hotels have done so for us into past).

One more thing to add is that the showers in the hotel are full glass so it lacks privacy. We did not know this beforehand but only upon our check in. Anass and team assisted us the next day to stick privacy film to make us more comfortable.

A pity is that the Michelin starred restaurant located in the hotel is closed from Sunday to Tuesday, so we could not get to try it. The breakfast is the same every morning too but it was alright.

We would definitely return to the hotel if we are in Barcelona again. Gracias Team Ohla Barcelona! 100/100

What a lovely hotel, the crews from their morning breakfast service to the reception, are really excellent and they make you feel welcome and appreciated. They got us a nice little upgrade to our rooms which is a nice gesture. We stayed there for 4 nights and certainly enjoyed our stay. Quite the view from the rooftop bar, and location is truly the gem. Located on the Main Street, good security and walking distance to many places of interest in the City centre of Barcelona. I can’t recommend this hotel enough! 💙

Everything was perfect: the staff's service and responsiveness, the location, and the room's design. Housekeeping even came in the evening. I'd definitely want to stay here again.

The hotel is in the city center, very close to the Aerobus stop at Plaça de Catalunya, making it very convenient for getting around. The hotel isn't large, and the rooms are a bit small, but the service is excellent, and the views are great. Breakfast was decent.
