Hostal Josefina-Gran Vía Hostel, Madrid1 / 24High rating

Madrid, Gran Via, 44 (in the centre) 🧭 Map
It was a best choice with this price in a very center of the city. Gran Via is amazing and our balcony view was so nice. Room was cozy, a bit small but definitely ok for short visits (we stayed 3 nights). Terrace was a big advantage here. No noise at night, we could sleep with no issues. Breakfast was ok, no much choices but we liked it. Staff and service were also good. Thank you!!!
I traveled in February and the room was simply cold. Thats my only complain. The breakfast was tasty, view nice and localization great.
Well located, but very small breakfast, one roll of toilet paper for 3 people. However, one point in favor was that they left towels for body and hair, both for me and my daughter, 10 out of 10. Elevator only for 4 people and there is only one floor in the entire building.
The location is excellent right in downtown! Could not have asked for a better location. The room is very small but perfect for what we needed, just a place to sleep and shower it was very clean, however one of our towels was left in the shower as instructed but was never replaced with a fresh one, luckily I had my own but I would have been quite annoyed to go all the way up to the 7th floor just to...
We had a great time, the room was so clean, the staff was nice. Only negative is waiting for the elevator but that is all of Europe in my experience haha. We didn't have anyone in a wheelchair in our group, but I do want to comment on this too to give people an idea, even with the elevator I wouldn't call this a wheelchair accessible place, as there were steps in order to access the elevator, and...
They have remodeled the entire facility and it was a pleasure to come back and find everything so nice and modern. It's a pleasure to stay in a place like this, with all the comforts for a short stay. Excellent change for the better, congratulations!

This hostal is in a great location and fit my basic needs. Clean bed, bathroom, and shower, and privacy. It was definitely no frills and everything was basic, including one pillow per side and push button sink in bathroom and shower. The mattress is also very basic with little to no cushion. Would note that the sound has ability to travel from front windows, though that is the trade off for being in...
It is the perfect location if you want to be very near a lot of the popular tourist spots like Temple de Debod, the Royal Palace, Plaza de Espanya or even more locally common places like the San Gines churreria or Gran Via. It's near the heart of the city and simultenously its very low prices for the shared hostel rooms makes it the perfect place for people on a budget. Do not let the "hostel" label...
Fantastic hostel. Booked 2 x 6 people rooms for a hen do weekend, the staff were so helpful and friendly the whole time, rooms very clean and modern and comfortable, lots of plug sockets and own bathroom. Hostel bar / restaurant also great. Beautiful city view from 4th floor. Would definitely stay again.
First of all I stayed in a 6 room female room, It was very comfortable and the staff fulfilled my every request. Breakfast was a great value and very tasty as well. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I'm glad there was air conditioning at this Hostel. It was in a good location. The only issue had was a girl in bed #1 on July 20 came to my bed and touched me and startled me from a deep sleep....
A great place to stay at, Kudos to the staff, especially Dave, you guys are really good. - A very very nice and cosy building. I felt at home inside. The beds are very nice, the AC works well and it is super clean. - The staff is very cooperative. I arrived at 8 AM and Dave was very kind to store my luggage and allow me to use the washroom. Saved me a lot of hassle. - The breakfast at 4.5 Euro is...
I got an unforgettable experience. The hostel is so clean and the staff is amazingly friendly. I'm so happy to stayed there besides it was my first experience in hostels

Great place with great location! I was in a 12 person dorm and everything was nice. The beds were comfy and the bathrooms had good conditions and it was all very clean. You have things to do every night so you're never bored. Overall I loved the experience and I would definitely recommend it and come back in the future.
Overall, it's a nice location and cool building, but photos don't tell the truth. Everything is very old and needs maintenance. I rented a bed in a 5-person dorm, but there were 6 people. There are better options for the same price in the same area.
Probably one of the cleanest rooms I’ve stayed in on this trip, the cleaners do a really good job and the front desk staff are always happy to help. Things don’t happen as planned though, the pub crawl “starts” 2130 but you don’t leave until 2330 so it’s not really a crawl when the first bar is the hostel you’re staying in. The drinking games started over an hour late and then they wouldn’t let you...
They know how to throw down. They host bar crawls EVERY night for 20 Euros which includes 4 free drinks for non residents and 5 free drinks for people staying at the hostel. Our room was beautiful (private room) and their service was excellent. Our bathroom clogged and when we informed them, they got it fixed within an hour. They also host events and dinners often at the hostel. Only downside is that...
Stayed in a 2 person private room. The private bathrooms were weird as they were outside of the bedroom. For the price we paid, the room was decent. As for the bar, I'm confident the beer was watered down. The bar was also a bit small for the size of the hostel. The best part of our stay was the service provided by the front desk receptionist- Angela. She went above and beyond to make our stay memorable...
Great place, great people! Had an amazing time at the Cats Party Hostel in Madrid. People who work there are nice, helpful, funny and very friendly. I’m coming back for sure!

I wasnt about to give the place any bad review, just point on things which could be improved. E.g. unreasonable and unlogical closing of all common spaces at midnight, including kitchen and not letting people go inside until somebody comes back next morning. Common area is very far away from the rooms. I was sleeping there whole day and didnt hear anything so I dont know what is the problem with sitting...

average place decent for a night
Very good overall, I really liked it, the facilities are very nice.
The hostel is accessible through bus and metro. For female travellers, the female dorms are at the same level and very convenient with toilets and showers. The room is very clean.
Newly renovated, everything is indeed very safe! There is a balcony! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
1. Same-sex quad room with private bathroom. 2. Location: about 2 kilometers away from all attractions, I walked. 3. Hygiene: clean and odorless, you need to bring your own lock for the cabinet. 4. Good sound insulation. Although this hotel is on the street, it is not easy to see because its sign is very small. I took bus No. 200 from the airport to subway Line 4, using Ctrip's location. Click in to...
Really nice staff , cheap , clean...Terrance with amazing view, nice drink , food recommend expect pizza. Rooms big with amazing view...metal static beds. In total i was happy to stay there.

The bed frame abit flimsy 😅 i slept at top bunk feel like swaying , so if you are big size, suggest you pick bottom bunk… the hostel look abit old…
The location was amazing, super close to reach by bus if you come from the airport. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom had shampoo and soap. There's an elevator, so I didn't have to carry my 23 kg bag. The included breakfast looked very good> buffet style, bread, fruits, cakes, cereal, cheese and coffee. WiFi was strong and I used it to work, since I work online
Good location, beds could be better
Perfect location, close to everything you need in Madrid. Atentive and polite receptionists. Would come back again with a pleasure.
It was great, staffs were nice, although I’ve waited about 10minutes to check in, but staffs are extremely friendly and supportive, 24 hours reception, and you have everything you need in this hostel!
One of the best hostel in central Madrid. Everything is so near. Strategic location. The staff is friendly and nice. The beds and Washrooms are clean too. Kudos to room007 team. Highly recommended and i will definitely come back for my next summer holidays. Mucho gracias!

In the very center of the city, cheap, clean and with nice and friendly staff. I would choose it again if I will visit Madrid in the future.
Great hostel with good facilities. Big rooms for the doubles anyway. Great location, metro across the street and 100 bars and cafés to choose from. So it's a busy area day and night. Staff friendly and helpful.

The hostel is located at close proximity to most places you need to be while visiting Madrid. The bus stop and metro station is located close by. The hostel was good for the price thought I felt the room was a bit too tight for eight people. A good thing though, the toilets are within the room. The first thing that set me off was the inability for an early check-in. Since the entire process is automated...
Clean and modern hostel in a quiet area, 20 min walk to city center but you still having bars, supermarkets nearby. It is small just the basics that you need. No kitchen but you have microwave and toaster. Bring your own utensils. Super kind staff 😊

Cool modern setting. Very clean. Terrific location. Many digital nomads. Very friendly and helpful staff. Although I could have been the mother of many of the guests.. (I’m 65) I really enjoyed my first hostel experience. I recommend the all you can eat breakfast (€6) to start your day. Also offers free walking tours daily.
It's a very clean and modern hostel, but solo travelers beware - it feels way more like a hotel than a hostel. There's no kitchen and basically zero social atmosphere. There are some fine common spaces, but nobody talks to anybody in them, so it's extremely difficult to meet anybody. It's basically a Holiday Inn with dorms. I wish I had read the other reviews about the dead social scene before staying...
The rooms are clean, beds are comfy and I love the ergonomic design of the rooms! I had a 6-bed dorm and the room had it's own shower (I think they all do). Great outdoor chill space and friendly staff. There was a few points of information left out from my check-in that I had to go back down and ask about, but the guy working there was new so no worries. I didn't choose the breakfast since there were...
This hostel is the first I have ever stayed in and it's brilliant! The service is very attentive and the people at reception are incredibly helpful. There are a few things offered to residents such as free walking tours which I highly recommend, alongside discounted flamenco shows and a pub crawl (I did not try these). The rooms are reasonable - I stayed in a four bed female dorm - with just enough...
Such a beautiful, wonderful place. Everything you need in a hostel and more. The only drawback is its slightly pricey for a hostel, and there are not as many social events/spaces but I suppose you get what you pay for and this being a little more upscale, people prefer their privacy. Lovely environment through. Note that breakfasts come separate, at 6Euros which I felt a little extravagant, but you...

Location was perfect right middle of the Sol. The room and bathroom were so clean and lean. Thanks
Solo traveller. Had a great time staying at Hostal Veracruz. Location is amazing, room nr 6 was clean, had a little French balcony that I loved, bed was comfy and staff was friendly. The price is great, it’s nothing fancy, very basic in a good way, if you want to stay where it’s buzzing to a great prize, this is a great choice. Huertas is my favourite area. I’d book again if I was coming back to Madrid...
Cheap and the most perfect place in Madrid,, rooms are quiet and clean. Really enjoyed my holidays
Great service and hospitality. Everything was clear. I got the single room, quite decent and cheapest hostel I could find in the city centre of Madrid. You can open your window and hear the bustling sounds downstairs. It's so convenient, minutes from Puerto del Sol, a discotheques and heaps of bars and restaurants downstairs. If you walk further out, there's San Miguel markets where there's a range...
The hotel is situated in the Puerta del Sol district of Madrid which a very lively place. All the main attractions are in easy walking distance as are a huge range of eateries. The hotel was really clean and the rooms are decorated in individual style. The air conditioning is a blessing in summer. The hotel is located on the 3rd floor which is served by a lift. The staff are multi lingual and helpful...

Super good hostel, great position in city centre, walking distance from so many places and caffes.
It’s very clean and has a good location. However the check in was slow, took a long time like half an hour as there were many people waiting to check in. Also it’s not a hostel to socialize with travelers as everyone was doing their own things and not keen on mingling with others! (Maybe it’s the nature of the place). I stayed here twice within three years and found it like this. The staff however...
It was a nice experience. The staff is very nice and helpful. You can leave your bag here even after check out. The whole building has air conditioning which is very nice during the summer. The breakfast is 4.5 euros and very good and great variety (I missed the vegetables but other than that it was great). I stayed in an 8 bed female bedroom. The beds were big and clean and the view from the room...
First of all its located really well, directly next to the gran via. Everything is reachable by foot so it's not necessary to buy a ticket for public transport. The breakfast for 4,50€ is fine. Really nice interior in the lobby and breakfast room, also really fast free WiFi. The bathrooms get cleaned everyday (which is necessary because some people seem to treat them like some public WC's in the metro...
Excellent hostel, many rooms but with good organization. I will come back. Location is great, easy to access metro and shopping area a lot of restaurant nearby, the lady with straight hair working at the reception is kind and patient willing to explain everything, special thanks to her. Common lounge is spacious with much sunlight, you can chill and relax there. Breakfast of 4.5EUR is value for money...
