Hotels on first line in Sri Lanka

I have nothing against locals, but there are just too many of them!!! You have to walk even further from the hotel, where the hotel grounds begin again. The poor entry into the sea forces guests to swim in the pool

Even though the hotel is on the beachfront, the entry into the sea right on the shore is terrible. There's no entry!!! It's all riffles and small corals. If you want to swim, you have to go left along the shore

The pool is small and shallow. After using it the first time, I didn't feel like swimming there again. There are plenty of them on all the beaches on the island, but here there were too many

I dropped off my laundry, and they returned it well-washed and ironed for next to nothing!!!))) Overall, the hotel would have left a completely positive impression, BUT there were a few things that were a bit disappointing: - The sea and the entrance to the sea

That's where the public beach begins, and it's packed with locals. Especially in the evening, it feels like they all come there to wash

I liked the pool and the sun loungers that doubled as beds. It was comfortable to swim in the pool and get some work done during the day. The room was a bit tired, but it had a sea view

Good location, beautiful 180-degree view, spacious rooms, large bathroom. The swimming pool is quite small, but the place is rather old, the rooms are old, but the service is good.

It's on high ground and the cleanliness isn't great, but the breakfast was good and the swimming pool is nice.

I really liked the hotel. Excellent breakfasts, very attentive staff. I recommend it 👍🏽

When I last stayed here, I thought it had the MOST idyllic location. That coupled with the pride the employees took in keeping it shining and the very pleasant bedrooms and tasty food! It is a Hotel in a MILLION

the Infinity pool and it's magical lights made it slightly easier

All rooms seemed to have a great view and a different unique perspective to enjoy. There was so much to explore and enjoy about this property,Staff was attentive and welcoming

The room is big, the location is good, the transportation is average, there are no consumption options around, the scenery is good, the sound of the waves is too loud at night, it is good to watch the sunrise, just lie on the bed

We did yoga in the space over the restaurant our first morning which was a great start to the day! Lots of great restaurants around right on the beach! 10/10 recommend!

We did stay at this hotel for 2 days instead of one. In this (post?) Covid period most hotels have been a dissapointment. Not this one! The room was clean, staff always very friendly and extremely helpful

It is a very good hotel and the people here it is very kind, the room it is to big and the vibrations hotel it is the best..recommended to anyone

Aggressive tuktuk drivers and merchants. Jungle Beach nice but crowded. The Sea Waves restaurant is awesome for dinner!

We had lunch several times at Thambapanni restaurant located by the Unawatuna beach. The food was amazing and the hospitality of the staff was exceptional

Both rooms we booked had great sea views. The beach was perfect for a stroll; the waves were gentle, and it only took a few minutes to walk to the beach. Compared to other attractions, I preferred staying at the hotel

Incredible destination, people that work in the hotel are very helpful. Highly recommend the private dinner on the beach!

Great property and excellent service by the entire team.

The beach is uncrowded, but busy with local "helpers," and there's virtually nowhere to go outside the grounds. On the plus side, the breakfast is decent. At around $300 a night, it's not worth the money

The service was really good, and the guy who gave the red envelopes had a really warm smile. His smile can really make people happy. I just learned to swim not long ago, and I am super obsessed with the swimming pool

The swimming pool attendants did their job very well, and the Front Office Manager was excellent and handled everything professionally. A special mention goes to Dammi, the hotel animator

The rooms could be upgraded, and the swimming pool requires attention as many tiles are damaged and need fixing

He is a truly wonderful person with great experience in the hotel industry. He explained everything clearly, especially about the sea conditions, which was very helpful for us

Dammi's aqua aerobics classes are especially fantastic. I did it first time - it's very interesting and fun activity. Dammi is always smiling and very friendly with all guests. I am very pleased with the hotel

He is an outstanding animator and does an excellent job. My wife and children were very happy with our visit, and we enjoyed our time at Citrus. We hope that when we visit again, the hotel facilities will be improved

I really like the breakfast and dinner of this hotel, and the view from my room is amazing as well.

The number of rooms should be updated by the repair. The beach and the restaurant - excellent.

My friends had wonderful 15nights at Cinnamon bey Beruwala. Highly recommend to everyone. They organised small cake on my friend's birthday and room decorated with suprise. Really amazing! Thank you for everything!

On the downside, the reading light was broken, there were no bathroom slippers or robes, and the shampoo, lotion, and conditioner bottles were made of ceramic. If these ceramic bottles break, they could cause injury

All the staff were friendly, kids activity center is a plus and the surroundings were very spacious and pleasant. The rooms were good, and I would definitely recommend their service, giving it a double thumbs up

The welcome at arrival was great The Beach was clean and pool water was comfortable warm Staff super friendly giving a warm and cosy atmosphere

Those who like the seaside can experience it, because the hotel occupies a large sea area. Compared with the Dameisha sea area and the surrounding five-star hotels and Sanya, this place is definitely better.

And specially rooms are very clean and properly arranged. The beach view from some rooms are the best. So when you're selecting your room please select beachside. For a wonderful family trip it's the best

Excellent wide beach, clean grounds, nice room with an ocean view, attentive staff, daily cleaning with full linen change, delicious breakfasts. We loved it.

Lovely hotel on a beautiful beach. Rooms were big and very clean There was not too much around the area, but that was not an issue. Staff were very friendly and helpful and would recommend staying here.

And the surrounding is really nice and clean with the beach. Good for family outings, couples, friends and enjoying the beach while having a luxurious stay

Staff could not have been more helpful and friendly! Great food, great drinks. Definitely try the 'ayubowan' cocktail! Nice private beach. You can start to see the age of some of the furniture and fixtures

Beautiful place, nice room even with a jacuzzi, privat beach. Friendly staff. Good breakfast we could use outside direct besides the beach.

The only thing that is depressing is taxes expense (15%) In the evening on the beach in front of the restaurant, running tens crabs, even big, the staff lights the torches, beautiful and romantic atmosphere, polite staff

I recently spent two nights in this hotel. The Bad: hotel decor is very dated. Colour schemes and furniture and in particular the Jazuzzi bath in bathroom are really archaic. The Good: hotel is located right on the beach

A pleasant small a short walk from Jungle Beach. Lovely views over the sea and towards Jungle Beach and Galle Fort. Checkin was swift and we were welcomed with a welcome drink

Especially from the rooftop with the pool, the view is absolutely breathtaking – it’s one of those places where you can just sit and watch the ocean for hours

Watching the sunset over the ocean while enjoying a drinks definitely a highlight. The place feels calm, breezy, and comfortable, making it ideal for casual evenings with friends or a quiet time to yourself

However, the service does need some improvement. The contact numbers provided, even within the room, were not functioning properly, which made it difficult to reach room service or other hotel services when needed

Especially the Sanjaya cafe employee and the senior receptionist Dilshan Thilakarathne, whom you can turn to for help at any time and at any time

I recently stayed at NH Bentota, and overall, it was a very enjoyable experience. The hotel itself was clean, well-maintained, and had a relaxing atmosphere

The rooms were comfortable and nicely kept, which made the stay quite pleasant. One of the highlights was definitely the food — everything we tried was delicious, and the variety and quality were impressive

There were some stains on the bed linen, but apparently it just couldn't be washed out, I found one or two

Environment: Beautiful environment, facing the swimming pool and the beach. The sand on the beach is very fine, so you can go without shoes without worrying about the pain

Inexpensive home. The proximity to the beach. The friendly attitude of the owner of the house.

Rooms clean but pool areas need work and modernising. The bar is dated and breakfast was pasta, or mashed potatoes, which is strange. The only downside is that it is full of Russians and no other nationalities

Two very nice clean pool and sunbeds always available. The downside to this hotel is in my eyes they don't cater for UK citizens. Breakfast is entirely for the many Russian guests

We were very late check in on 24/03/23 however we have got a very nice surprise from the management of hotel offered us a club sandwich with fruits on the table in the room, the room is clean and the mattress is comfortable

We stayed 3 nights and it was a nice experience. House keeping were really good. Malith helped to clean the room. Kishor helped to move our luggages. All staff is well trained and clean rooms

Only issue was the breakfast didn’t had much variety. It should have atleast hopper corner or string hoppers, omelet, waffles

The pool is beautiful although not as clean as our previous hotel at Heritance Negombo, a few doors up. The power also cut out 10+ times over an hour period. Maybe the switch between solar to grid needs to be upgraded

In the mornings, you can go to the beach to watch fishing; there are so many seagulls and crows, and even dogs! If I ever stay here again, I'll definitely choose to stay here again!

Amazing hotel with a lot of care and thought put into the little details. Feels very unique with the suites having a very architectural type feel, example recsess in the bathroom for light features and shelving etc

the door however had an old rusty handle which would fault, locking you in! Had to leave the door open propped by a bin

Since it was our honeymoon, they even gave us a small cake! The room was spacious, though the furniture was a bit dated, but the view was fantastic, directly facing the infinity pool and the beach

We had a lovely stay at Jetwing Blue Negombo.  The setting is lovely , right on the beach.  Rooms were lovely , we had a second floor room with a balcony opening towards the sea and view

The price is also quite reasonable. They also provide a cool parking solution as well where you can actually use are to use a lift to park your vehicle in the basement. The staff is quite friendly as well

Narrow but beautiful street where the hotel is located. Lift facility for car parking. I parked my bicycle there and itbwas safe to park there. Staff very cooperative and always with smiling face

A great hotel in a good location in the center of Colombo. Comfortable and spacious rooms of a high standard and very tasty food

Other places like Galle Face Mall one od thr largest mall here was also nearby. Each tourist place was well within the reach from here. Hospitality was quite good and i had no issue while staying here

We stayed as a family with an elderly member and a child, and took two rooms. The rooms were super clean, the mattresses were comfortable, and we had a really good night’s sleep

The service was top-notch, providing us with tremendous support and assistance in a crisis situation during our trip

Sam was exceptional and went out of his way to get everything I asked for. Madhuka and Dimli also deserve a special mention. The SHACK seafood restaurant was excellent and good value

The beach is great, but you need to buy sunbeds. The only negative is boring, there is no program in the evening, no water aerobics, nothing

The extensive beach is lovely for walks. There are sun loungers in the shaded area in the trees but these have to be paid for. The hotel offers a number of daytime activities and there is evening entertainment

Beruwala is hot this season and mosquitoes bite in the evening. The final solution is also terrible. I have never dared to do so again. Booked an overseas hotel on Ctrip

Lovely location beside Indian Ocean, good selection of food. Friendly staff and excellent rooms and facilities. All inclusive provided all required meals drinks and snacks. Plenty of space to lounge around inside and out

A must go to place of u want to enjoy the rough sea without getting too close to dangerous waves

Lovely comfortable room. Good room service and fabulous breakfast. No hairdryer in room. Check in delayed for nearly half an hour because room hadn’t been cleaned by 2pm.

Overall it was simply awesome experience though food quantity versus price was pretty disproportionate yet the food & customised tea latte were tasty

A super-clean and well maintained colonial hotel, breakfast and diner- buffets were really good,cleaning staff were very friendly, but restaurant and reception staff could be more more service minded

Immaculately observed, including the lowering of the Sri Lankan flag every day at 6pm, accompanied by a Scottish bagpiper!! Excellent location, close to the city centre but just enough away, right be the sea, in front of the iconic Galle Face Green

The pool is sourced from the sea water all the time. Food available in several locations in the hotel, including the popular, much talked about buffet breakfast and bar food

I had the most wonderful time. The sea was just perfect.

Our room was conveniently located right by the pool entrance, making swimming incredibly easy! It faced the ocean, but the waves were too rough for swimming, so we could only enjoy walks along the beach

The hotel is quite far to go, so it is recommended to eat directly in the hotel or buy things to bring in before entering the hotel, otherwise it will take at least half an hour to go out and back

The hotel is located by the lake and has preserved the original plants and stones. It is a very unique building and worth staying in. The breakfast is also very rich

You are constantly struggling to get shade under the trees. A 5 star hotel should make provision for their guests. As they would have details of all bookings

One of the nicest places we stayed in Sri Lanka in terms of value. Rooms are simply fantastic - excellent size, well designed. The land has direct access to the ocean and a little beach in front of it

The premises are really nice with a pool and access to the water (though swimming here is not advised). Staff was the friendliest that we encountered in our 10 days in Sri Lanka

My stay at Hotel J Unawatuna was very enjoyable and comfortable. The hotel is located in a great spot, close to the beach and main attractions, making it easy to explore Unawatuna

The hotel staff were friendly and approachable. Food from the hotel kitchen tasted good and was well priced. Rooms were clean and there was a pool just outside my room

This was not an issue for me bu if you need more privacy, I would recommend looking for a room further away from the pool

It was possible to clearly hear people playing in the pool, or eating by the room, when I was in my room

The room is large and clean. The staff are helpful and friendly. For the location, there are many restaurant nearby and it takes 15 minutes to get to the Unawatuna Beach on foot.

Very good location, you can take a 10 min walk to the beach, but the hotel does not have blankets, so that's something you need to bring for youself if you need a blanket to sleep at night
