Hekaya Zanzibar in Michamvi

Had an amazing stay at Hekaya for 3 nights. The rooms, property, service, staff were amazing. The view from the room was the big reason to book this stay, and I was not disappointed at all. The people running this property are so helpful and always are there with a smile, makes your stay memorable. The best thing of stying here was going for my morning walk on the beach early morning during the sunrise... amazing

This was our second stay at Hekaya this year. Jackline gave us a very warm welcome and took excellent care of us throughout our 17-day stay. Her honest and genuine personality makes you feel like you are truly part of the Hekaya family. We would also like to say a big thank you to the entire staff, including John the gardener and Mr. Pool Man 😂 — and especially for supplying us with hundreds of papayas after the sea urchin accident 😂. Please stay just the way you are — you are an amazing team. See you again!

Everything about Hekaya Zanzibar is charming. The rooms and bathrooms are very clean and big. Thank you Jennifer for such a great job! The views of the Indian Ocean spectacular! The staff could not be friendlier and accomodating. I wondered if they have okra and I got it! Fresh salads, seafood, meats. Every dinner different. Tariq, Dennis and Mohammed were always friendly and we had some good conversations. Thank you for the coconut drink Tariq! Jacklyn, the receptionist/host has helped us from the moment we contacted Hekaya. Her heartwarming laugh and welcoming style are forever in our hearts. John, the gardener keeps the grounds impeccable and beautiful, AND, he brought us flowers for the room and made me beautiful wristbands with flowers. Thank you John! The guards always had a smile for us and helped us feel even safer. Omar, the driver; thank you for your patience while we shopped in Paje. We will definitely recommend Hekaya to our friends and we hope one day to return to beautiful Hekaya Zanzibar.

Great location right on the beach, good service and friendly staff. Not many rooms so quiet, but has everything you'd need. Food especially is very good, all fresh produce with a different menu each evening, usually featuring the catch of the day. Recommended!

A wonderful beach experience on the east coast of Zanzibar. The villa itself is set in a small but gorgeous garden, beautifully maintained by John, the gardener. It fronts onto a long, beautiful beach, safe for swimming and with plenty of boats that will take you snorkelling etc. There are several seafront eateries where pole pole is embraced. Small, with only 5 rooms, its perfect for a relaxing stay. The rooms, especially the family rooms, are huge, beautiful and well equipped. Their pool is lovely, with loungers and cosy spaces all over. We loved the food which is freshly cooked and delicious, with changes made every day. Breakfast included fresh fruit and juices, pancakes, pastries as well as eggs, bacon, sausages.... and g reat coffee. Above all, the staff were lovely - warm, friendly, helpful and professional.

Our taste buds were in heaven! Thank you for everything! We’ll be reminiscing about our stay in this wonderful place for a long time!

We stayed at Hekaya for a couple of days with our two small children. It ended up being an ideal location in more ways than one. The room was comfortable and spacious. It led directly to the beach. Because of the tides, we felt quite safe letting the kids play around the sandbank without having to worry about big waves etc. The tide pools were amazing to walk through. The pool itself is on the small side but worked well. Small touches like a beach bag and bowl of water outside the room to clean your feet were very thoughtful. The breakfast is served directly to your table and comes out in courses. That wasn't ideal for the kids and so we requested them to serve the toast and eggs at the beginning and they were very nice about it. There's a very nice place to eat if you face the ocean and then walk to the left, from the hotel (it's in a repurposed van, I think it was called Pantbella). One day we took a boat out to the mangroves up the coast early morning- being able to walk around the mangroves was incredible. All in all it was our favorite stay in Zanzibar !

We stayed in Hekaya during early november 2024,this was our second time there and we spent a very pleasant time.I had the opportunity to chat many times with the new owner,a gentleman from Austria.The room was ample and had all necessary amenities.The staff is nice and efficient.After many times in different parts of Zanzibar,we can say that its location is insurmountable ,just in front of an amazing sandbar and sea lagoon that can be enjoyable during high and low tides.I did not give five stars because of its kitchen that in our opinion should improve in terms of ingredients and creativity,however this is not a big problem since there are several good and affordable restaurants nearby like Baladin and Mathlai and also after my comments I hope they will work on this. We surely will come back,thank you very much.

We spent 3 nights at Hekaya Zanzibar, including the New Year's Eve. We had a wonderful experience - the facilities were great, location perfect and everyone in the team did an outstanding job to keep us comfortable throughout our stay. A special thanks to Jackline and Godfrey for their fantastic responsiveness, and for going above and beyond to make us have a special time in the island!

Very nice place to spend your holidays. It is well maintained, clean, has amaizing views, nice pool. The staff is very friendly. The food was good, very big portions. The hotel has good value for money. We loved the beach - it was clean, you can swim during high and low tides. Perfect place if you don’t want to be in the middle of nowhere but also want quiet holidays. No noisy bars, etc. Also, it felt safe.
