Our honeymoon stay at Tulia Resort in Zanzibar was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a level of personal hospitality that felt warm, genuine, and truly heartfelt. Every member of the team seemed to know exactly how to make guests feel at home—attentive without being intrusive, thoughtful without being over the top.

The resort itself is stunning. Lush gardens, beautifully designed villas, and tranquil spaces create a serene atmosphere that instantly puts you at ease. One of the most unique features is the beach: with the dramatic high and low tides, the shoreline transforms throughout the day, offering two completely different yet equally beautiful experiences. At low tide, you can walk far out over soft sand and explore; at high tide, the water becomes crystal-clear and perfect for swimming.

A detail I particularly loved was Tulia’s commitment to fresh, sustainable food. They grow many of their own vegetables, herbs, and fruits right on the property, which you can taste in every meal—vibrant, flavorful, and full of life. Knowing that what’s on your plate was grown just steps away adds an extra level of authenticity and care.

What truly sets Tulia apart, though, is their dedication to giving back. The resort is actively involved in charitable initiatives within the local community, and it’s clear that their impact is both genuine and meaningful. It feels good to stay somewhere that not only treats its guests exceptionally well but also strives to make a positive difference beyond its walls.

From the moment you arrive to the final drive to the airport this place is true paradise! Service above and beyond, the property has 16 rooms in stunning bungalows. The maintenance and amenities are top notch. Walking distance from the Pongwe Beach. Staff are incredible and will do anything to make you happy. The hotel has their own little farm which provides the freshest ingredients for all the food. The culinary experience you will get can rival the best restaurants in the world. Our stay was exceptional and the management and all the people who worked during our stay were just amazing! This is a world class boutique hotel that we will recommend to anyone who wants to visit Zanzibar. Thank you Tulia for an incredible hospitality!

We travel a lot and we must say that Tulia was by far one of the best choices where we have stayed. The staff, food, garden, services, spa, entertainment and the overall impression was absolutely perfect. The all inclusive meant truly everything from seafood to champagne. Also we got airport transfers and massages as complimentary package so it was great deal. ALL in all this was the best holiday we ever had. The weather could have been nicer but that's not a fault of the hotel.

Where to start? The Tulia is located on a beautiful private beach. The food and drink selection are amazing. Rooms are large and situated amongst the most beautiful greenery. The staff are warm and genuine, and seem to enjoy working there. The food is excellent. Our kids loved the water slides and the beach activities. It comes at a hefty price, but this level of hotel in other markets (Thailand or Maldives) would cost substantially more, making it good value in spite of the cost.

We travel a lot, and great service is rare — but Tulia gets it right. Lucas in the restaurant remembered our preferences after the first day, and it never felt forced or scripted. The team works seamlessly, and you can feel the pride they take in their work.

We chose this place because we were tired — not just physically, but mentally. And somehow, Tulia understood that without us ever saying it. There was no pressure to do anything. We ate when we were hungry, swam when we felt like it, and spent a surprising amount of time simply sitting and doing nothing. The food was consistently excellent, the surroundings beautiful, but more than that, the whole place felt calm in a very genuine way. We left feeling lighter, rested, and already nostalgic. That doesn’t happen often.

We chose Tulia for peace and privacy — and it delivered exactly that. Quiet beach, plenty of space, no crowds. The service was efficient but never overwhelming, and everything simply worked. If you want a calm, well-run boutique resort without noise or chaos, this is a great choice.

This was our honeymoon, and we couldn’t have chosen better. The atmosphere is calm and elegant, never loud or busy. Even small moments like a quiet breakfast, sunset by the beach, a kind gesture from the staff. Felt special. Tulia has a way of making you feel like time doesn’t exist. We left already planning our return.

Writing a review to share how wonderful our stay was at the Tulia. You arrive to the rythmic banging of drums and as the gates open you enter a peaceful world of Tulia. The staff are all smiles, the pool with its slide and toys is an eclectic addition and great fun. Each evening the food is served to a very high quality, and the staff and band make sure the guests have an amazing time. A highlight for me was the Dhow - you go out to sea for c. 20 minutes, warm water lapping at you. The captain is brilliant, he's a Liverpool fan I think which is a shame!!
