Reviews
Facilities: Overall, they're pretty decent, especially considering it was 400 a night during peak season. The hotel is quite old, but well-maintained. The only issue was the shower. I was on the 7th floor, and for some reason, the hot water was scalding, and the water pressure was a bit low. The pool is nice and not crowded, but the gym equipment is very outdated.
Service: Generally, the staff are friendly and the service is good. However, there's always one bad apple. In the mornings at the gym, there was an old man, wearing a hat and a staff short-sleeved top, who would come in, sit down, and watch videos on his phone with the volume turned up loud. I was quite surprised that a staff member would do something like that!
I can't sleep Because they slammed the doors very loudly all night, and even after staff reported it in the morning, it was to no avail. I will never stay in a hotel where people of different nationalities are staying again.
I booked Manhattan Hotel based on the photos and mid-tier price point (around AUD 100 per night, double the cost of many basic hotels nearby). What I walked into was genuinely shocking.
The air-conditioning controller was broken, meaning the temperature couldn’t be adjusted at all.
The wooden floor planks were lifted up in multiple places. I didn’t realise until it was too late – I cut both feet on the raised boards just walking through the room.
The sofa was filthy, covered in stains and absolutely unusable.
The walls and surfaces were dirty, with marks everywhere and clearly not cleaned properly for a long time.
This wasn’t a matter of “older décor” or “not to my taste” – the room was not safe to walk in and not in a hygienic condition for guests. I arrived later after travelling and had no realistic option to relocate immediately, so I stayed reluctantly.
For anyone considering booking: the quality shown in the listing and what you actually get are worlds apart. I’ve uploaded photos so future travellers can see exactly what the room looked like and make an informed decision.
I’ve raised this formally with Agoda because I don’t want other guests to walk into a situation like this. The conditions I experienced are not acceptable for a hotel in this price category, or frankly at any category.
If the management resolve this situation properly, I’ll update this review to reflect it — but until then, travellers deserve to know what to expect.
While the hotel location is good, and the rooms are spacious they have a serious problem with the AirCon.
The Aircons do not go below 21 degrees , which makes it extremely hot during the day time in the toom. On top of it, the Air con makes constant loud sound which makes it even worse. They have not way to fix or moderate the Aircon as its is central cooling system.
They changed my room 2 times, but the problem wouldnt go away.
Finnally if you are on the side of Sukhumvit Soi 15, you can hear the cars moving even in the night time.
I had booked the Hotel thorugh Booking.com and no where in the desciption they mentioned about the Aircon not being able to go below 21 degrees. In the bangkok heat, 21 fels like 27 degrees making it very difficult to sleep
The location is central and good. One should consider Aircon preference and sound preference before selecting this hotel.
The staff has a good attitude.
