No hairdryer, but the area is great for walking around. The temple food is cheap, and there's a night market on Sundays.

A small and cozy homestay. Have stayed here twice and will certainly return.

Good location. The room had aircon, which was nice. But the windows could not be closed so all sounds from outside were heard. Not good service. We booked an extra night due to changes in our trainschedule, but wanted to change the extra booked night so we could do a multiple day hike and return here. They did not want to change and showed no flexibility whatsoever. We ended up paying for two nights we did not use the room.

The place is located central but in a nice side street. Close to everything but quiet. The room is clean and spacious. The furniture was a bit older but that's all fine for me. Good value for the price. I can recommend

Very affordable clean and simple rooms. In good location in Old City, right by Sunday walking market and many restaurants bars and shops.

For some reason, it was actually cheaper to book this place on agoda (final payment amount) than it was to book this place in person. It's basic and we were fortunate to have a little sitting area in front of our room (room 7) that we practically had to ourselves. It was clean enough but not spotless. Apparently, this is the case for most basic hotels in Chiang Mai. The cheapest I found was 450baht for an air-conditioned room. Ampawan was 490baht.
Plus: by a quiet lane. No karaoke or noisy neighbours. Opposite a fantastic vegan cafe called Bodhi tree Café.

Ampawan Guesthouse is a good budget option. I stayed here for one night in a fan-only room. The room is very basic but clean, including the bathroom. It’s within walking distance of Thapae Gate, which is very convenient. Worth the price.

Good value for money, and practical but basic. We thought it fine for a short stay,. The room was good, ours didn't have air-conditioning but some do. Bed was comfortable and the shower worked.main disadvantage is that its a very noisy place overnight.
