The Brown Hotel in Krabi City

I had a room on the 4th floor with balcony overlooking the high street which was great. I wish I could have stayed longer as I preferred the town vs Ao Nang even though I did stay at an upmarket resort (who cares about the pool, gym, etc)!!
For the price it's really good, just beware there's no lift if you have heavy luggage but they offer to help you up anyway. Definitely will pick this place again when I return in the future.
There's also a Dyson hair dryer which has now swayed me to get one as after using it it felt like I styled it in a salon!!
Finally, the bidet washer had good control without splashback but I didn't have to use it in anger as my stomach was fine...

A very mixed experience at The Brown Hotel.

Strengths: The hotel is well located in Krabi Town, close to many markets and the Pak Nam River, where you can easily take a one-hour longtail boat trip for 250 baht. You can explore a cave, a small fishing village on stilts, and the mangroves. While strolling, you'll also discover urban art sculptures, including the Mud Crab sculpture and traffic lights topped with monkey sculptures, located just across the street from the hotel.
Opposite the hotel, there's a Vogue shopping center and a 7-Eleven just a few steps away.

The room was very clean despite the presence of ants.
The hotel staff were kind and helpful, especially the two ladies we encountered at the beginning of our stay. But the man who was there at the end of our stay was rather cold, and we felt like we were bothering him when we asked for help with our luggage at check-out.

The minibar is free and replenished daily.
Breakfast is excellent, especially the egg/bacon/avocado sandwiches!

Negative points: The hotel is quite austere, more like a hostel than a hotel. The room we had was too small for two people with two large suitcases. They took up all the space. The decor was very minimalist in a Japanese style, with a mattress on a bed frame directly on the floor. The mattress wasn't comfortable at all, in our opinion. And the headboard faced the glass blocks. There was no view of the outside, which made me feel a bit claustrophobic. The hotel doesn't have an elevator, and our room was on the 3rd floor, which made transporting our luggage difficult, even though the staff were helpful. Furthermore, the walls are very thin, and we could hear all the surrounding noises, especially since the common area and the staircase have very noisy wooden floors. The doors have an alarm system that triggers a short, repetitive beep if you don't close them properly. New guests often didn't understand this, and the beeping would sometimes continue for quite a while. In addition, there was construction work in the building next door, particularly in the afternoon around 2:30-3:00 PM, with loud sledgehammer noises, making it very difficult to get any rest. We also heard the sound of an electric saw very late at night. In short, I absolutely do not recommend this hotel. There are better options nearby at a similar price.

The hotel was beautiful and very homely. Well maintained clean and cozy. Loved the vide of the hotel. Every corner of the hotel is designed so thoughtfully. Absolutely loved it.

A really lovely little hotel that is cozy and comfy. Great bed on the floor, soft pillows, free minibar. Steps up to the rooms.

This is my second time staying at this hotel and overall it’s been a great experience. The location is excellent—right in the town area, making shopping and dining very convenient. The room is clean and hygienic, which I really appreciate.

The only downside is that the building doesn’t have a lift, so it can be difficult for guests with heavy luggage or elderly family members. But for my stay this time, the hotel staff kindly helped carry my luggage upstairs, which I really appreciate.

Overall, it’s a pleasant stay and good value.

The staff and the location are amazing. It’s right next to a bustling night market with some great food, and another night market is just a 10m walk away. The river is a 5m walk away. The staff also went above and beyond to help us.

That being said, the building is very old and needs some work. We could hear every footstep, every whisper in the area. The rain also felt very loud. There are 4 floors and no elevator (also no rooms on the ground floor).

Overall a good experience, but I can’t stay here for too long haha.

Loved every bit of it! Good location, friendly staff, clean room, and absolutely awesome vibes. Highly recommend for anyone visiting krabi town!
