Dream Valley Resort Tonsai Beach in Railay Beach

🌍
Thailand, Railay Beach, 86/8 Moo2, Aonang ,Muang
● Center: 1.1 km
🌞 Beach - 4 min

Many guests appreciated the peaceful, jungle-like setting and frequent sightings of monkeys and hornbills on the property. The staff received positive remarks for being friendly, helpful, and accommodating, including tracking lost items and assisting with inquiries. The outdoor swimming pool was frequently mentioned as a highlight, with some rooms offering views directly over the pool area. Guests liked the proximity to climbing spots and the ability to walk to Railay Beach and Phra Nang from the hotel. Wi-Fi is generally available throughout the property, and some guests found the value for money reasonable given the remote location. Electricity is only provided from around 5 PM to 10 AM, with no power during the day, which some guests found inconvenient and uncommunicated before booking. Several reviews noted cleanliness and maintenance issues, including ants, cockroaches, spiders, broken bathroom doors, and old or poorly maintained rooms. The hotel’s location requires a boat transfer that can be costly and unreliable, with no boat service after 6 PM, complicating arrival and departure. Basic room amenities are lacking: no refrigerators, kettles, TVs, or adequate bathroom supplies in many rooms, leading to guest dissatisfaction. Some guests reported issues with Wi-Fi connectivity interruptions and noisy air conditioning units.

Facilities include an outdoor pool, sauna, bar, restaurant, and Wi-Fi, though electricity is only available on a timed schedule during the day. The property is accessible exclusively by boat, which adds to its remote and rustic character. Guests can enjoy proximity to sandy public beaches about 700 meters away and explore nearby trails to Railay Beach and Phra Nang beach, known for rock climbing and caves. Location

The resort is situated 17 km from Krabi Airport (KBV) and 146 km from Phuket Airport (HKT). Dream Valley sits near Tonsai Bay Beach, approximately 280 meters from the hotel, on the third line from the shore. From Tonsai Beach, Railay Beach is accessible by a 10 to 15-minute walk through jungle paths or by boat. Nearby dining options include the restaurants "ร้านอาหาร(วานีน)vaneen@Thai Food" and "Ton Sai," both within 60 meters, as well as "Time To Chill Coffee House" about 150 meters away. The hotel is surrounded by cliffs and jungle, with a public sandy beach suitable for swimming a short walk away.

Tips

  • Bring sufficient Thai Baht cash as local boat transfers and nearby restaurants may not accept cards.
  • Prepare for limited electricity during daytime by bringing power banks for charging devices.

Here’s a refined version of your review:

I absolutely loved this place — everything was amazing! I had a room right in front of the pool, and the view was truly breathtaking. There are so many cute and delicious restaurants nearby, just make sure to bring cash. I can’t wait to come back!

Very enjoyable stay would definitely come again just need to be wary of location as requires getting a boat to mainland

We absolutely loved it! The location was secluded, quiet, and felt like a jungle retreat. The staff were friendly, and the breakfasts were good. The only downside was that it was a bit difficult to get to.

Beautiful place but you can get to this place only by boat. Boatman’s know it and rising price some times. After 18:00 boat can be cost about 800b, if you a group that is ok but for me as I was traveling alone it was expensive.
No electricity at day time but it is ok as I didn’t spend time in hotel when electricity was off. Rooms looks very old and poorly maintained. As please for just sleeping at night ok
No bugs inside, just couple ants was founded 🐜
Big spiders and cute monkeys on territory.

The hotel is located on Tonsai Beach. You can only reach the hotel by boat. Once you arrive, you can call the hotel to pick you up with a buggy, or walk along the paved road for about 5-7 minutes. From Tonsai Beach, you can walk along a mountain path to Railay Beach (about 10 minutes), where you'll find a street with cafes and minimarts. The most beautiful beach, Phra Nang, can be found by following the signs, and from there, trails lead to various caves.

The hotel is good, breakfasts are standard, and the staff is very friendly. There's an interesting point about the electricity, which is available on a schedule, but it doesn't cause any major issues.

I recommend this hotel.

tonsai beach is beautiful and there arent many people. we saw monkeys with their babies and hornbills almost every day. the resort had a nice big pool and the rooms were also very nice but we had a tiny hole at the bottom of our shower which lead to a big cockroach being in our bathroom one time. after that we stuffed the hole with toilet paper. we also didnt have energy from i think 10am to 5pm which was annoying sometimes but we had a good powerbank so that was manageable. tonsai beach only reachable by boat (100baht one way) and if theres low tide (which is twice per day) you will have to walk a bit through water (knee height) to get to/from the boat. to get the boat is quite easy tho just go to the boat rental in ao nang. from tonsai there are also many boats so its not difficult to leave. you can also rent kayaks at tonsai.

Great unique experience,
100 baht for a long boat that drops you off in knee deep water. Then a short walk to the resort.
So peaceful, nice beach, great pool and good option to eat very close by.
Basic room was clean and all you need for short stays.
Great to see monkeys bouncing through the trees.

Overall we had a positive stay here. We have never stayed anywhere like this before, offering secluded and relaxed vibes as the resort is only accessible by long tail boat. Although it was hard to reach the stay was enjoyable. Most mornings we woke up to monkeys on our porch which was cool to see!

The hotel looks beautiful in photos from the outside, but the actual living experience inside was terrible. Power was only available from 5 PM to 10 AM the next morning; the rest of the time, there was no electricity. The bathroom door was broken and couldn't close. The room's decor, with its exposed concrete and steel, was particularly ugly. The outdoor pool and other facilities look good in pictures, but that's about it.

Everyone, please stay at Ao Lei Beach! To get to this hotel, you absolutely have to take a boat from Ao Lei Beach. And these boats! Be warned ⚠️ – you are 100% guaranteed to get wet! This is because their boats can't dock very close to the shore, and there's no proper pier. So, if you're carrying valuable items like laptops or cameras, make sure to lift them onto the boat first, and you'll need to wear super-short shorts to board! Every trip felt incredibly nerve-wracking! If you're staying at a hotel on Ao Lei Beach, leave your luggage there and always bring a waterproof phone case and camera protector if you plan to come here.

This hotel is located on Ton Sai Beach. It's a 15-minute walk over a hill to get to Railay Beach, where you can go rock climbing! This island is famous for rock climbing. In short, absolutely, positively do NOT stay on this island! Also, after 6 PM, there are no boats available from this island. You'll need to charter one. For example, a regular trip for one person might be 100 Thai Baht, but if there are no boats, chartering one for two people could cost 1000 Thai Baht!

Of course, it only takes 10 minutes to get from this island to Ao Lei Beach. Also, if you run out of Thai Baht on this island, exchanging RMB is incredibly expensive – 1000 RMB only gets you 2500 Thai Baht. We refused their offer because it was such a rip-off! Make sure you bring enough Thai Baht. Personally, I think one person needs at least 20,000 Thai Baht for a 7-day trip.

Getting to and from the hotel from the speedboat pier with luggage is only possible by local longtail boat (you'll need to find one yourself). Upon arrival at Tonsai Beach, hotel representatives will meet you.

The hotel itself is practically in a forest, so expect mosquitoes, wasps, and other wildlife. Monkeys, possibly a rare breed with white rings around their eyes like pandas, also live in this forest and can be observed every morning. The hotel has two decent swimming pools. The beach is a 5-minute walk through the neighboring hotel's property. Tonsai Bay is surrounded by picturesque cliffs on all sides. There are several local restaurants near the hotel. You can also walk (or take a longtail boat for 100 baht per person) to Railay Beach via a path through the cliffs along the sea (about 15-20 minutes, even with a child). On Railay's walking street, you'll find cafes and restaurants to suit all tastes. There's another trail through the forest to Railay, but it's longer and has more mosquitoes.

The best beach in the area is Phra Nang, about a 30-minute walk from the hotel through Railay.
