The hotel is absolutely beautiful ground floor to the inside room! The breakfast was very nice, the coffee was outstanding, and the staff took very good care to keep everything clean and restocked. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean, and very. My only complaint is that you cannot control the temperature in the room and it was too warm for my comfort. Other than that, it’s an excellent location for sightseeing and has plenty restaurants around.

We had a wonderful nine-night stay at Germir Palas Hotel Istanbul, a charming hotel in Taksim Square, right in the heart of the Istanbul city center. The location was ideal ..just a short walk to Istiklal Street, with easy access to public transportation, shops, and restaurants.

We arrived early in the morning (around 7 AM), and the staff kindly let us check in immediately — such a warm welcome after a long trip!

Our Bosphorus view room was absolutely beautiful, with a clear view of the Bosphorus Bridge (Boğaz Köprüsü) that looked especially magical at night.

The hotel had a cozy atmosphere and truly felt like a home away from home. Housekeeping was excellent — the room was always clean and tidy.

The staff's warm hospitality really made our stay even more pleasant, and we genuinely appreciated their kindness.

Breakfast was good, though having a bit more variety would make it even better.

The Wi-Fi connection was strong and reliable throughout our stay, which made it easy to stay connected.

If you're looking for a comfortable and well-located hotel in Taksim, we recommend Germir Palas — especially for couples or families who want to explore Istanbul easily while enjoying a peaceful stay.

I already miss it and hope to come back again soon!

Great location near Taksim Square.
The front door is for walking in only, while the back door is used for car drop-off or pickup.
The back door isn’t well marked, so it might feel like you’re walking into a bar—but it’s actually the correct entrance.
The room itself was okay…
Not very soundproof from the street noise.

Unfortunately, the hotel is extremely old and everything needs to be renovation!
-Housekeeping not cleaning well and they never checked towels etc well found dirty towels…
-The wifi not good at all why are most customers using their own data roaming this means more money is wasted! But if you happy to use it in the general area it's okay.
-check-in and out terrible very rude lady she's toxic just sharing a moody and negative energy!
-also safety issues electric light switch just inside your bed! Not joking just behind your pillows its super unsafe if any electricity issue directly creates fire!
-only good part location and Night shift receptionist Mr Yavuz

So must check alternative hotels before book this hotel!!!

I liked the hotel very much. I read somewhere that Agatha Christie could have lived here. I think the characters in her works could have, too. The hotel is a three-minute leisurely walk from the Taksim metro station and the beginning of Istiklal Street. It's easy to find. Check-in was quick, the receptionist was friendly. The room was quite large and cozy. The furniture was in excellent condition; there was a kettle with tea and coffee supplies, a refrigerator with free water, which was replenished on the second day. The room was clean. It had various nice little things, in particular, slippers, a shoehorn, a sewing kit, etc. The shower had a strong water pressure, hot water was coming straight away. The breakfast was quite decent, there was a choice, everything was of a good quality. Wi-Fi was stable and fast. The only downside for me personally was the thick pillows. Overall, the hotel made an extremely positive impression.

What I Liked

Our stay at Germir Palas Hotel had several positive aspects. The location is unbeatable, right in front of the famous park in Taksim Square, making it perfect for walking and exploring the area. Transportation options are plentiful and easily accessible, adding to the convenience. The check-in and checkout processes were both smooth and efficient, and the hotel staff were quick to assist with our luggage, which was especially helpful given the pedestrian-only access to the hotel. The breakfast offered a wide variety of delicious, well-cooked options, making for a pleasant start to each day. Additionally, the staff were exceptionally friendly, always smiling and eager to help. Although communication in English was sometimes challenging, tools like Google Translate made it manageable. Once they understood what you needed, the staff—whether it was the room service lady, reception, or breakfast staff—were incredibly helpful and accommodating, going out of their way to assist.

What I Didn’t Like

There were a few downsides to our stay, though. Like many hotels in Istanbul, the soundproofing was not great, and we could hear noise from the surrounding rooms, which was a bit disruptive. Additionally, while the hotel offers the option to book tours and attractions, we found that the prices were quite high. It’s much better to explore the many tourist offices around Taksim Square, where you can find more competitive rates. Don’t expect anything luxurious, as it’s a 4-star hotel; however, it offers good value for money and is a solid overall choice with some room for improvement.

The location was unbeatable. You get to stay in the heart of Taksim and have easy access to exploring Istanbul from a clean and beautiful hotel. Would stay here again when I am back in Istanbul.

Stayed for only two days but everything was so good. Location is exceptional. Hotel is very clean with an English club like style with authentic brass , engraved glass and leather sofas in the Lobby. Some very interesting original paintings too.
Didn't try their food though.

Review – Nippon Hotel, Istanbul
I stayed at Nippon Hotel during the end of the year and New Year period. The hotel was fully booked, including many families, yet the overall experience was very good.
The service was excellent, the room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, and it fully matched my expectations. Housekeeping and staff support were professional and responsive.
Breakfast offered a good variety of options, and if something was not available, the staff were willing to accommodate special requests, which was appreciated.
The location of the hotel is also very convenient, with easy access to exchange offices, supermarkets, restaurants, and shisha cafés. Overall, it was a pleasant and comfortable stay.
I wish the hotel continued success.

On the first night, I complained to the hotel because I couldn’t sleep due to the heat (in winter time), I was tired then. They were unable to fix the air conditioner, and next morning I asked to change rooms. They moved us to another room that is smaller, for four people, but with better air conditioning. This means I paid for a Family Deluxe room of 35 m² but had to stay in a room of about 20 m². This experience is bad.

I have stayed at three other hotels in Turkey during this trip, and all of them were good. Only Nippon Hotel made my holiday incomplete. I really regret choosing Nippon Hotel; if I had read other guests’ reviews on Google more carefully, I would not have made this booking.

I had a very pleasant stay at the hotel. The property is very clean, and the staff are friendly, welcoming, and consistently helpful. I appreciated the thoughtful touches such as the welcoming fruit plates and Turkish delights, which made the stay feel even more personalized.

The breakfast was fair, with a reasonable selection. One of the strongest aspects of the stay was the team at the reception; they were always attentive, responding to guest requests promptly and professionally.

Overall, a comfortable stay with great service and good hospitality. I would happily consider returning.

Good service overall. In the rooms, the wardrobes are very small. If you plan to go with small children, you won’t be able to enter or exit with a stroller, which really annoyed me. The hotel doesn’t have parking. Breakfast is moderately good.

Edit 1: the issue is solved after a long discussion back and forth with the hotel and Booking.com.
Thanks to Nancy from the reception she is so helpful and collaborative! Without her the issue was not solved.

I just arrived today at 2 PM, and the room was extremely hot. I asked the reception to check the air conditioning, and they told me it was fixed. I trusted them and went out for the day. When I came back around 10 PM, the room was even hotter!

I called the reception again (different shift this time), and the person told me there’s no cold air, only heating, because the entire building uses central AC. Seriously? Every guest has to accept the same temperature? What if someone wants a cooler room? This makes absolutely no sense.

I told him that if they cannot provide cold air, then please refund my money so I can move to another hotel. He told me to contact Booking.com. I did, and Booking informed me that the hotel just needs to send a confirmation email to approve a refund. However, the reception refused, saying that only the reservation team can do that — and they don’t work on weekends! So now I have to wait until Monday, meaning I’m forced to spend two nights in a room at 29°C!

This is completely unacceptable. Poor management, poor communication, and zero care for guests’ comfort. I am stuck here suffering because of their unprofessional system.

Avoid this hotel unless you enjoy sleeping in a sauna!
