Disastrous Stay.
Avoid at all costs.
The only good thing is location. My stay at this hotel was awful. The "manager" was rude and unhelpful. The bed in my room was broken see in the video. The aisles have a strong of paint due to ongoing work, making the environment unbearable. This hotel is clearly one of the worst ones I've been in.
Save your money.
Ovoid staying in this hotel because there is no respect to the customers.
Definitely not recommended.
First of all, this is NOT a 5-star hotel. Under ideal circumstances it is at best a 2-star hotel. Circumstances were not ideal during our stay & we had a “luxury suite”.
The hotel is dingy, decayed & desperately in need of renovation. Even from the official photographs one can see it was last decorated in the 90s. Whilst that is not a time period known for style, looking past style, the building & furnishings have not been maintained, much less replaced when needed since the 90s.
Every bit of the building & everything therein is crumbling, chipped, cracked, torn, stained & decayed from age & neglect.
The carpets, for example, should have been burned & the ashes scattered a decade ago.
The refrigerator door wouldn’t close. Rather than repair it, the door was held by forcing into position & locking a cheap dead bolt. Naturally this was of the lowest possible quality to ensure the edges were dangerously sharp. In retrospect, perhaps this was a style choice, an effort to maintain conformity with the rest of the askew cabinet door hanging loosely at odd angles.
The rickety toilet was fixed to the wall at an angle so that one tilted to the right when sitting on it.
The shower (when working) leaked.
Soap in the bathrooms was supplied by cheap plastic dispensers tacked to the walls, loose enough to fall off when used. The soap itself appeared to have been purchased from a motorway petrol station.
The floor of the balcony was made of some sort of fibreglass material that one bucked underfoot. It did not seem safe to stand on, but did enjoy the view of a sliver of the Golden Horn above the bins where stray cats fought over refuse.
The free breakfast was absurdly meagre. For example, the “pancake breakfast” consisted of 3 reheated Scotch pancakes about 4 cm in diameter, served with half a teacup of fruit. That “hearty” breakfast snack came with a tiny cup of watery coffee, presumably from a hospital vending machine. After the first “free breakfast” we ate out.
All of this shabbiness could be somewhat forgiven were it not for the fact that everything from the 5th floor up was being renovated. Literally everything was being stripped out all the way down to the frame. Whilst that was manifestly necessary the hotel should have been closed.
The sound of jackhammers, industrial pneumatic drills & the pounding of sledgehammers filled the hours from morning to night. Forget having a nap.
Every day reception would claim that “works stop tomorrow”. Works never stopped, not even on a Sunday.
On day three the hot water went out in the entire hotel. This presumably had to do with the leaking pipework laid bare in reception. I thought there was going to be a riot.
The only “positives” were that the beleaguered staff was friendly (though visibly embarrassed) & the hotel is in a good location. That’s not enough to make one stay here. There are a lot of hotels in the area. Choose any other one.

The rooms have molded floors around the bathroom, smell like mold and the view is non existent.
Bathroom ceilings are molded and when you take a shower the whole bathroom area has couple of centimeters of water. The shower was broken as well.
The beds are on the lower side of the comfort as well and the room isolation is like a cardboard.
Absolutely an awful experience and would not recommend despite the good location. I am leaving pictures so anyone can be a judge (can’t leave the scent unfortunately). It’s a 3 star hotel at the absolute most and don’t know how they got 4… maybe few years ago, but now everything is run down.
The manager Georges repeats 10 times how everything can be arranged and have a nice experience, but actually takes no action at all.
The staff tries to be nice and helpful but does nothing as well, probably because of management.
Note:
As a reply to the comment below, since its not possible to respond. We are free to do what we like stay or not, comment or not. Despite the wrong reservation, i left photos which has nothing to do with the reservation but just showing the real image of the hotel. So everyone can be a judge.
I stayed at Georges Hotel Galata for five nights and had a great experience. The location is perfect: steps from Galata Tower and all the energy of Beyoğlu, with Karaköy's waterfront just down the hill.
The rooms have beautiful high ceilings that make the space feel elegant and airy. The showers are wonderful, and I loved the thick towels and sheets (plus there's a heated towel warmer, which is a nice touch). PRO TIP: ask for a room on the garden side if you can. The neighbourhood is lively and bustling, but the garden-facing rooms are surprisingly quiet.
What really stood out was the service. The concierge staff are genuinely kind and helpful, not just going through the motions. They made reservations at local restaurants for us and gave great recommendations. When I had a plumbing issue in my room, the manager Mr. Serkan personally checked on it multiple times and made sure everything was handled professionally. That level of attention makes a real difference.
Oh, and there's a charming resident cat named Lollipop who adds personality to the place
The rooftop bar has spectacular views and excellent cocktails. If you're looking for boutique luxury with personal service in the Galata area, I'd definitely recommend Georges Hotel.
