Reviews
My mother and I chose this hotel for our first trip to London, but it only made our journey even more tiring. We couldn't get a good night's rest when we returned home, and we had to contend with the inconvenient conditions. It was heartbreaking.
We stayed here for four nights. On the first two nights, the water pressure in the shower was so low that it was barely enough to rinse our mouths, not shower. We reported this to the front desk, who said it was because we were on the fourth floor and the water pressure was too low. We were offered a room change, but we had to carry all our heavy suitcases back to the first floor, check them in again, and then wait until 3 p.m. to check in again. Surprisingly, when we left, we discovered that the shower in the neighboring room (also on the fourth floor) had normal water pressure.
For the next two days, we stayed on the second floor. The water pressure finally increased, but we had to press the button every 10 seconds or the water would stop. The shower floor was covered in dirt and had an unpleasant odor. The two rooms we stayed in had no benches or tables, only beds in sight. Sitting on them wouldn't allow for a straight back.
The front desk staff was arrogant. They didn't mention the £10 fine for checking out after 10:00 at check-in. However, at 10:10 on the day of our check-out, they asked us to pay it. I assumed we were late, so I paid. But no one had informed me of this in advance, which I found extremely unprofessional.
(1) I was told my 2 nights stay was on different rooms. I need to checkout on day 2 by 10am and checkin to another after 3pm. This was due to a group booking and they specifically wanted the room 113 that I was in on night 1. I was not given the option to cancel my booking, not allowed to leave my luggage in the room and they do the transfer for me. And I felt their attitude was like "sorry and take it or leave it".
(2) After 14 hours of long flight, me and my family was very tired and fighting with jet late. I approached the counter and check the room readiness at around 2pm. I was told I can only move in at 3pm without checking the room readiness. But I aas found out the room in fact was already ready. And it make me unhappy with their that do not have any "sympathy". What losses would they have by let us move in at 2pm?
(3) Luggage storage space is not an control area. You just pick up the key from the counter to accese the storage room which is not within the reception area. No record and no checking on what you store or retrieve from the room. And the encountered was my luggages was store at one corner and when I try to retrieve them, they were shifted to another location. And one of the luggage incur minor damage.
(4) One of the counter staff was not friendly. The key I hold for room 113 for 1st night stay was invalid to room 211 for 2nd night stay. On day 1 checkin, I was told it valid for 2 days but it was not. I checked with the counter staff and I can tell her fraustration from her responded and reaction which make me not happy too.
The above encountered make me not to stay at YHA anymore.
Well done for keep the place well maintained. Have a small kitchen for cooking
Would definitely stay here again.
