Reviews
Upon check in, the staff tried to deny my booking due to lack of upfront payment. After a frantic call from me halfway across the work to my travel agency, it turned out all was good and the hotel had simply missed an email from the agency because it was answered by another team member. You would think there’s a better way to track this if people knew what they were doing.
On day 2, my key card was abruptly deactivated without communication, verbal or over email, leaving me unable to access my ID and wallet. Apparently the payment had not been charged at check in, as it should have been when I was present and the travel agency was on the line, but a day later, and it had been declined. Another anxiety filled day later, once it was daytime and business hours for the agency, I had to get this sorted out.
No apology from the staff for either incident, zero communication of any potential issues with bookings prior to check in, and no consideration for the hassle of time zones for someone who is traveling intentionally. They think they can get away with it because you don’t have any options at that point.
Needless to say, there are better and more professional hotel options in this area - I’d suggest people save themselves from this kind of customer service and anxiety.
Elevator was broken for entire duration of stay which meant the service elevator was required to get to and from room, which did not even have access to the lobby- we had to exit the building into the parking lot just to get back to the lobby.
Restaurant food quality was excellent, and outdoor pool area was pretty. This was probably the highlight of the stay. But based on the price, I would expect a little more of a "luxury" experience. Not even coffee and tea in the room was a disappointment. We were offered a welcome drink at check-in, but then told to come back later because they were out of glassware.
I booked through Amex, so did receive $60/day for breakfast, which was just barely enough for 2 entrees and coffee/tea. $100 resort credit was quickly used up for a lunch: a burger, fries, beet salad, and two cocktails. They were able to get us into a King room/partial ocean view at 12pm upon check-in, however no upgrade was available, and the late checkout benefit was limited to noon.
Overall the food was the best part, but I wouldn't go out of my way, especially if you aren't booking through Amex for the freebies.
The amenity fee of $40 (mandatory) is steep, especially since a single overnight stay makes it almost impossible to use any of the facilities. (It was way to cold to think about using a pool.)
Cordless charging stations in the room are also quite nice and convenient.
